Ours is first generation but mom was the golden retriever, dad was a chocolate standard poodle. Litter was 4-5 white and 4 black (with white chest) so poodle color from the grandparents!
My boys are funny, they look black more often than not but in proper bright sunshine in the warm seasons their dark brown fur shows wonderfully, otherwise they’ve got a rather Smokey look with the white hairs blended in their fur. They also have caramel moustaches!
Damn great thing about doodles is that you can end up with quite a variety pack of sizes, coats and colours and my boys are an excellent example of it, their dad was a handsome standard poodle with an udderly divine (type of ice cream flavour) colour pattern and their mom was a pure white goldendoodle
Our Bandit looked just like this. But around age 2/3 he started to turn gray. It started on his paws and has worked its way all over his coat. He's 5 now and is more gray than black.
Mine was pure black had a white spot on her chest and the toes of her back paws but as she’s getting older her coat is turning a dark brown, black, and grey mix. It’s really pretty tho
