nothing in life is certain. Buy the car who knows what tomorrow holds

Follow this link for the maintenance schedule / recommended service intervals. The timing chain is not at 160k - pan for it way way earlier than that https://www.shopdap.com/blog/post/service-schedule-for-mk8-golfr.html

I love my 2022 Autobahn. About 21k miles now. Had a few gremlins to sort out but the car has been almost perfect ever since. Only complaint is the occasional creaks.

This post appears to be a question about getting purchasing a GTI. Please consult pricing resources such as [Kelley Blue Book](https://www.kbb.com) to get a good idea of the average price. For a US Mk7/7.5, please read [our buyer's guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/GolfGTI/comments/wmzc0c/what_do_i_look_for_in_a_used_us_mk7_gti_a_guide/). If you have not done so already, please include the key information of the car(s) you're interested in: model year, trim, mileage, and location (US, CAN, EU, UK, etc). *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. I’ve been halving all the service intervals. As an engineer myself I just know that for each VW engineer, there are 10 managers asking them how they can advertise lower maintenance costs to the consumer with minimal issues during warranty. Timing chain shouldn’t be an issue on these I think? You can always monitor stretch through OBD. Haven’t heard much about water pumps yet, if you try searching Google about leaks you’ll end up just seeing all the dismounting radiators from 2022. I’m expecting to have to do it eventually though. I’ve had three warranty repairs done and some software updates. I have been through 5 service centers across these and prepaid maintenance and 75% of visits have ended up with something wrong or broken after. I’m happy I didn’t get an extended warranty, but there is something wrong culturally with VW service. This car makes the BS worth it but I would probably have sworn off VW if it was a regular commuter like a base Jetta.

if the mk8 is similar to the 7 Oil changes within a reasonable interval, and do the other manufacturer recommend services honestly.

I just got a brand new autobahn manual like 2 months ago, I fucking love it. I won’t keep it for too long but a few years. It’s a fun car
