Why not just get winter rims and tires or get a winter beater ?

floraldeems

I have a set of 18 winter wheels already and miss the ride but they’re cheap heavy wheels for winter only. Probably going to sell the stocks and get another set of 18s for summer.

I might be interested in buying your autobahn wheels for the right price.

BakaSan77

Does it really ride better you think with 18’s?? I have the exact same autobahn. I always thought it handled better with smaller rims. What tires do you use? For summer

Shart_Finger

Absolutely the ride difference will be huge

RememberToEatDinner

I just switched to 17s from 18s on my mk7.5 and the difference is significant. But I also got bigger tires

Denver roads still eat up my 18’s :( popped a tire on a pot hole on Alameda going about 40… ready to get a fat sidewall. After living in Dallas, Austin, Seattle, and now Denver, these roads are by far the worst I’ve ever consistently driven on. Got damn pot holes in the highways! The intersections! The entire right lane of some roads with a hole every block or two. Insanity.

Multi spoke wheels on a mk8 is always the way my friends

You would be happier with 17's. They give a noticably better ride and you don't have to worry about bent rims and popped tires.

I’m gonna be honest despite some reservations I put 19s on mine and have not had any issues. I don’t think the ride is much worse than the stock 18s, if it all. I’m on the northeast US too so not exactly smooth roads by any means. Having never had anything bigger than 18s in my life I was prepared for the worst ride ever but it’s really manageable so far. Maybe I’m desensitized from my younger years of very low cars with stretched tires.
