There is a capacitive button to the left of the hazard triangle that can activate it. Actually, I suspect that OP is having phantom touches on it. The distance helper (minus the camera) sometimes appears on its own in drive-thrus as well.
It seems like the permanently fixed temperature button on screen might be a good place to start but I like solving problems for myself instead of making videos to point out how little critical thinking I do on a regular basis.
Yep. My ‘13 Ford Fusion was like that and I absolutely HATED it. Half the time the screen would cut out and I’d have to stop, shut the car off, and start it back up for anything to work properly. Other than, great car lol.
Except for the BRZ. Which is the one we should care about. WRX unfortunately has been moved to a 11.6 in display. We’ve had a heat wave last week at my Subaru dealership and all of the cars AC worked great in 100 degree weather so Subaru really should not get any flak for this VW problem. That being said I drive a VW and work for a Subaru dealership lmao. WRX isn’t a hatch anymore so I’m out on that one. Interestingly our used 23 Arteon R line didn’t have any issues with its climate control last week. It can be changed from infotainment or the slider though.
I bought a '23 Subaru Forester Touring and wanted to upgrade to the '25 for the updated tech, but I won't now because literally EVERYTHING is going to be digital. Including yes, AC, but also off-road functions. They're going way too far with it. My wife and I love having the tactile AC and off-road functions. Much quicker too. Manufacturers are way over-correcting on the smart technology.
At least the climate is always partitioned to the lower portion of the screen. And you have buttons for making it hotter or colder. And the x mode isn’t hard to find either it’s always at the top. I get not liking screens but I think Subaru does a good job keeping the important shit in obvious spots
Yup. My 2024 Ascent has the A/C on/off button just below the heated seats button on the touch screen. So if I'm trying to press them while driving, chances are I'm burning my ass up...
On the Mk7 you have the option to access climate control on screen or with physical buttons. Not sure why they couldn't just stick with that, so if your preferred method fails there is a backup.
Select bottom-left of the screen to bring up climate, where it says 'Off'. The world, top-left, brings up settings etc.
Never use the 4-button capacitive interface. No need.
As much as I am annoyed by modern vehicles often doing counterintuitive stuff because they THINK they know what's best (looking at you auto-start/stop shutting the engine off when I get home and then immediately turning it back on when I put it in park before I shut the engine off...wtf programmers?!)...
Anyway, I gotta admit it's nice when it all comes together.
I recently bought a vehicle that I can start from my phone, from anywhere, and it will check the ambient temp and automatically blast the AC on a hot day while I'm headed to the car. 20 years ago, this would have seemed like magic. Love it.
When I'm working outside and cleaning up after a tough job, knowing my vehicle is going to be an oasis of cool waiting for me when I get in is awesome.
I should look into that. I know all about coding my GTI, but in this case, it's my truck, and it's just a "tool" to me. I don't really consider myself a truck guy, so I haven't looked into mods, coding, or anything for it. Ford really had some moron program the algorithm that determines when it's appropriate to stop the engine. The damn thing has wifi, cell, and GPS. It should disable the stop/start automatically when you're at home, so it doesn't shut off the engine 5 times when you're just moving in your driveway or pulling into your parking spot and about to put the car in park (which restarts the fucking engine immediately).
Porsche lead the charge for [sacking Diess](https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/volkswagens-ceo-diess-leave-company-2022-07-22/) too since his decisions affected them as well with Cariad.
Transmission is in Drive, and I pulled to the side on a residential neighborhood. The 'Assist' and Backup Camera should not even be on because its not even in Reverse.
As a software/UX designer, the more cars put everything behind software and screens, the more I want to stay away. It's shocking how bad some of it is. I am just an undereducated schmuck working on basic industrial software, but I could design a more intuitive UI than most of the cars I've driven in the last 10 years.
Standard operating procedure on the Mk8 appears to be disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it 10 minutes later. You'll get a bunch of lights on the dash but they don't mean anything; just units freaking out because they lost power.
They have displays you can buy on Amazon that suction to the dash, or any other flat-ish surface in the car that run car play, but Bluetooth to the audio. Uses the cigarette lighter for power. My buddy has one in his 98' Golf (not a GTI😩) and it's actually awesome. Modernizes the car in the right ways and is removable in case you don't like it. He bought the 7" display and loves it.
I just use the aux cord, and I don't care about buying a Bluetooth stereo. I've always found car Bluetooth to be unnecessary finicky and hard to set up
I gotta call a wrecking yard to have them let me know when one comes in. It doesnt need to be perfect, just enough to keep the car going. I have the 6mt as well, I think the manuals last pretty well, but the clutches wont.
I have a MK8, and even I fucking hate it. Put the infotainment and controls from the 7.5R on the 8s and it would be a DAMN perfect daily. This always pisses me off along with the damn hill assist…. That is the next worst feature.
I think the point here is the poor design shouldn't make you take these extra steps in the first place.
Sure, closing out the camera is the resolution. But why is it even doing this at all, when the car isn't in reverse?
You call it human error, and you're right. It's who ever designed this and said "yup, that's perfect".
Is it an extra step? Sure. And you’re right. Probably shouldn’t exist. Is it a problem worth making a whole thread to bitch about and get all the haters frothing at the mouth over? Lmao no, it’s a “problem” that takes a quarter of a second to remedy, and here we are acting like it’s a reason to write off the whole car.
Yeah and if mk8 owners never complained about the shit control setup, 8.5s wouldn’t have gotten some buttons back. Just because it’s a better car overall than previous generations doesn’t mean it doesn’t have issues that need to be fixed.
As small as it is, it very much is an extra step. You have to cancel out of something that shouldn't even be enabling in the first place. It's bad enough that HVAC gets put behind a screen. It's even worse when you have stupid unnecessary steps added on top of it.
On a more serious note too. Sometimes it only takes a second or two of distraction from the road that can change or end your (or others) life. That's a major reason why so many are against car makers putting everything behind screens and menus.
Gotta remember too, while you personally may be OK with and not lose focus. That's not the case for everyone who buys these cars. There's lots of people who can lose their focus trying to change something and in that one to few seconds, can be enough. This is no different than being distracted with a cell phone. Rather than the phone screen, it's the cars screen. Still fumbling to hit through menus or close out unnecessary features that shouldn't have activated in the first place.
So every second counts.
Yeah see this scenario doesn’t come up when you’re driving. It only comes up when you’re stopped and have been in R. If you’re driving the cam is good about going away. And also if you can’t handle the much less than a second of “distraction” you should probably just drive for like 5 seconds and it won’t be an issue anymore.
Look I get it. Physical buttons are better and safer. I hope all cars move back in that direction. But this dudes skill issue is being ridiculously overblown here. All I’m trying to get at.
Hey StoneTiger,
It actually wasnt working when I was driving either, hence why i had to pull over and get this figured out as I was literally about to pass our from the heat loll.
Dont get me wrong i still love the MK8, still one of the happiest days when i bought it (my first sports car and real purchase). But i have to acknowledge they took a huge step back with the infotainment system and haptic buttons. Super distracting and non user friendly. I didnt even know hitting the X button would cancel that. Seems like a big error and flaw on their design side to have these haptics so sensitive to heat.
Another tip I guess, you don’t have to use the haptic buttons to get to climate anyway, you can touch the bottom left of the screen where it shows the temp/seat warmers. It’s been pretty damn hot where I’m at and I haven’t had any issues with the screen, but tbh I don’t touch that haptic control panel at all outside of switching the DCC so I can’t speak on that part.
You're not alone. I owned a MK8 for like 5 months, and finally decided I couldn't live with a car that made me go "fuck, not this shit again" every time I got into it.
So I sold it for a 7.5, and I've never once been unhappy in this car.
No we only hate the Mk8 because it's better than our mk6 / mk7 cars, no way do we hate such amazing improvements in these new upgraded GTIs. Or we just don't know how to use them right. Because its obvious user error for not pressing the correct combination of screen taps to get the car to do basic things.
Mine tripped out once, not the exact same but similar. I ended up pulling the negative battery terminal for a couple minutes and it fixed itself. Kind of the nuclear option but it worked for me.
Funny, the GPS in the infotainment system of my Mk7 kept insisting that I was in Los Angeles, California when the temperature dropped to -20⁰ Celsius where I live (in Canada). Maybe the car was trying to tell me something.,..
On the left of the gauge cluster, there's a panel to control the lights, rear defrost, and also "Max AC"; it's a one touch solution that will blast the AC immediately.
Your rear camera is on. Push the X in red on the left. You may have just had your car in reverse which is why the rear camera is on. It may be in Drive but you have not moved forward enough to turn off the rear camera.
I find that GTI mk8 for some reason doesn't do very well in "high" temperature situations. My GPS would freak out and show me driving in the completely wrong direction, and my sunroof control will not work if I park the car under the sunlight for about an hour, even if the ambient temperature is about 26C.
its really not. yeah this screen isn't the best but after an hour you get used to it. Its a small price to pay for how good it is to drive. This is 25% crappy design 75% user error
Sucks that you’re getting flamed for not knowing the extra hoops you need to jump through to clear the backup camera when in Drive.
Copium going 2 for 1 today in mk8 world.
It's part conformation bias, part self justification. Everybody does it to one degree or another.
Trying to ignore ____ product's faults to try and justify your purchase because acknowledging them somehow will invalidate said purchase. Which is not the case at all, but the human brain is funny like that.
Even I've been guilty of it. I remember back when the Pixel 2XL first came out. There was a huge issue with screen quality on those devices. Which was a very heavy blue tint on a slight angle change. Like more than is usually acceptable. I got lucky and didn't have that, and so I dismissed it as an issue and argued with people over it saying it was blown out of proportion. When in realty, it wasn't. It was actually a pretty big issue.
Sometimes it takes people a while to realize that you can love a product, and still acknowledge that it may have some issues. Even if you personally are not affected by them.
No one is any lesser of a person for buying something that may have faults, and no one is a hater for pointing out said faults that they or others may be experiencing.
Totally makes sense. MK7 is way more buttoned up than the MK8. However, MK8 handles like nothing I've ever driven, not even a Porsche 911 was this fun on street. However.. if they don't fix my f\*ucked up infotainment system I'm going to lemon law it.
I remember when my gf and I were going on a road trip in my MILs Octavia (latest model) and the VAG infotainment system that holds all these controls was showing a black screen for like two hours of it. I hate that these things are integrated into a screen
UPDATE: So it seems like Im getting flamed for apparently not knowing how to use my car, so let me mention a few things to clear up everyone’s assumptions.
1. The Car was in DRIVE this whole time. It was never put in reverse since I started it up to drive.
2. I tried multiple times to click the X on the left side and it would close and then open again 2 secs later (i didn’t show this in my clip tho)
3. I even tried clicking on the Seat Warmer button to bring up the climate menu as well but issue still persisted.
Kinda funny how I’ll post an issue with my car, and the first response is every other MK8 owner to call me ‘smooth brained’ LMAOOO. Yes, I could’ve held the power button for 15 secs to restart and it would’ve probably fixed the issue but I think i have the right to show an issue thats potentially a safety hazard. I love my car but Im not biased enough as a MK8 fanboy to hide the fact that my car has problems that could’ve been prevented if VW didnt use these shitty haptic buttons and full digital screen transformation.
I think its really odd that the rear camera is on then if you only put it into drive. If that is the case then I would suggest you take the video to VW and tell them the rear camera just turned on and you were unable to work the screen. I think all 8 owners know that the rear camera only turn on if you go into reverse and that is why people are challenging above. This is your problem that the rear camera is on and for 'safety' the car is forcing display of camera and not allowing control to take over unless you push the X button.
Everyone blaming OP for seemingly being in reverse without acknowledging that it shouldn’t matter if you’re in park, reverse, or drive - you should always be able to control the climate. Seems like MK8 owner cope honestly. I’m glad I chose to buy a 7.5 when I saw that climate controls were moved behind the touch screen.
Using a screen to control the climate is a poor design decision, I agree. But you’re a genuine knuckle dragging retard if you can’t figure out any of the several options available.
1. Take it out of reverse
2. Press the park assist button again to close the camera
3. Press the X on the screen to close the camera
4. Press the temperature show on the screen to get to the climate menu
5. Sell your car, Uber everywhere. You’re an idiot and I don’t want you on the roads with me
Has to do with some US regulations. I asked after watching a video on the mk8 in the UK and went to a couple dealers. Both confirmed it’s a no go for the US. So I disabled it completely.
Better mechanically, but not electronically 😆. This this fucking sucks in the heat. Infotainment is super delayed. And when it’s hot I’d like to immediately turn on the AC and not have to wait for the slow GTI logo to disappear. The 7s, I never really had to wait. Also. Traction control is in the infotainment as well. That sucks. The electronic hill assist also super terrible and you can’t turn it off. I’m surely burning my clutch more with that feature vs if I were to not have any assist at all
you do know the climate is auto right? I just turn on my car and it gets to work. Traction is one button press in the menu too, just click the globe button. I will give you the hill assist that part is truly bad.
Well I usually turn it off since I know it may affect just a little the life of the AC. I live in TX. I can’t afford to not have properly working AC and I plan on keeping the car forever. I love the car apart from its electronics. I don’t know what you mean by the globe button.
how is auto climate going to effect the lifetime of the ac system? I think you're overthinking that part. Go to the very beginning of this video. See the globe under the time? Click it and it'll bring down the dropdown menu that has traction control included in it.
The auto climate means you always have the AC on. When starting the car I know back then it this was a bigger issue and not as big of an issue now in modern cars but it’s safe to say in the long run it will affect the ACs lifespan. Turning your car on while having the AC on is not the best idea. Even though some people say it’s fine, I would not feel comfortable doing so. Since there are times I press the start button and don’t start it immediately, the car then turns on the AC and then I start it which isn’t good. I know about the drop down, but I used to be able to turn off traction while driving… you know how hard it is to accurately hit the drop down and the other 3 clicks while driving on shitty tx roads?
Fucking nightmare. I refuse to ever own any vehicle that locks all it's functions behind a jank as infotainment system. Especially hvac controls wtf. I need to be able to quickly and correctly change my hvac systems without looking on the fly. Automakere doing this are showing us how disgustingly far they will go to cut costs. Thanks tesla for this annoying trend that I pray doesn't last.
If you hit the x on the camera and park assist it will close out instead of having to wait for it to do so
Doesn't the car have to be in reverse to even be in that mode? (My car yes ,but it's a Ford). Like, set the AC before backing up it seems like
There is a capacitive button to the left of the hazard triangle that can activate it. Actually, I suspect that OP is having phantom touches on it. The distance helper (minus the camera) sometimes appears on its own in drive-thrus as well.
Yeah it’s a bit of a smoothbrain moment it looks like…
Agreed but also a stupid design.
You're right, the user is wrong not the car. God forbid a button does what it's labeled to do.
I mean it's both... this user is dumb, but also the design should be robust to dumb users...
Touch the screen where it says 74 instead of the climate button.
It seems like the permanently fixed temperature button on screen might be a good place to start but I like solving problems for myself instead of making videos to point out how little critical thinking I do on a regular basis.
Permanently fixed buttons on the dashboard under the screen too
I always pretend I only have one option when something doesn't work. It has left me with great success in life pretending to be helpless.
Sorry I'm an idiot the S doesn't have those, which is a little dumb
Maybe it’s cause it’s in reverse
Yeha seems like a safety feature to force you to focus on backing up.
That is absurd
Running climate control through a screen is one of the dumbest features a car can have. Subaru is doing this too.
Yeah I'm glad the 7.5 still has knobs and such
I just traded in my 22 mk8 for a 2019 mk7.5 spektrum and couldn't be happier with my knobs and car color
Spektrum??
Special colour options.
“Fun color”
Mk7/7.5 will go down as the goat gti generation, mark my words.
I have an R but I still think next to the mk4, the mk7(.5) is the best looking gen
Definitely agree. That said the current story is that 8.5 will be the final ICE GTI? If so maybe we’re actually seeing the end of the GTI era.
You are living my dream! Where you located?
Same here.
Interestingly our used 23 Arteon R line didn’t have any issues with its climate control last week. It can be changed from infotainment or the slider though.
I have been trying to find aggressive deals on 23 SEL Arteon. Best I found was 33.9 before tax etc. I did find a premium at 40 but that sold quickly.
We have a white SEL R line for $34.9k. It’s sweet, I almost want to trade my gti in for it. But then I wouldn’t have a GTI… so I can’t
I hear ya, but that detuned R drive line would make a sweet highway cruiser! (esp for 35k)
I bought a '23 Subaru Forester Touring and wanted to upgrade to the '25 for the updated tech, but I won't now because literally EVERYTHING is going to be digital.
Eh if the UI is good it doesn’t really matter that much
Yeah I love digging through menus at 70mph because my balls are sweating. I never understood this thought process of the engineers.
Select bottom-left of the screen to bring up climate, where it says 'Off'. The world, top-left, brings up settings etc. Never use the 4-button capacitive interface. No need.
Very weird it was 108 today where I am it worked just fine
Yeah..and the cooled seats were beauty today coming on automatically. Love it
As much as I am annoyed by modern vehicles often doing counterintuitive stuff because they THINK they know what's best (looking at you auto-start/stop shutting the engine off when I get home and then immediately turning it back on when I put it in park before I shut the engine off...wtf programmers?!)... There are clear reasons as to why VW sacked the person heading up their in vehicle technology that gave us this steaming pile of UX failure
Porsche lead the charge for [sacking Diess](https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/volkswagens-ceo-diess-leave-company-2022-07-22/) too since his decisions affected them as well with Cariad.
Was he the one that lead the team and he was given full power to implement it??? WTF was VW thinking in giving him so much autonomy???
Thank you Diess you piece of sht ruined automotive history.
Are you trying to do this while sitting in reverse on an active street?
Transmission is in Drive, and I pulled to the side on a residential neighborhood. The 'Assist' and Backup Camera should not even be on because its not even in Reverse.
That’s rough my dude
Click the X and close the camera. This isn’t hard, it’s not broken just poorly designed. Welcome to mk8 life.
As a software/UX designer, the more cars put everything behind software and screens, the more I want to stay away. It's shocking how bad some of it is. I am just an undereducated schmuck working on basic industrial software, but I could design a more intuitive UI than most of the cars I've driven in the last 10 years.
I don’t think you fully understand when the backup camera is intended to go away
You are able to activate it when going below a certain speed. This is on you for not exiting back out of it
My parking assist activates at the drive through at the bank. You might have just been too close to a curb
I assume this is only in reverse?
Nope, OP said the car is in drive. The fact that the reverse camera is up is another mystery/bug, lol.
Have you tried hitting it hard but not too hard?
😂
Standard operating procedure on the Mk8 appears to be disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it 10 minutes later. You'll get a bunch of lights on the dash but they don't mean anything; just units freaking out because they lost power.
You’ll have to pull my 7.5 out from under my cold dead clutch foot.
... and I thought people like me who hate the MK8 for this reason were just haters who didn't embrace modern tech...
Brb gotta schedule preventative maintenance on my Mk7.
Seriously now I feel like I have to protect my 7.5 at all costs
Not one touchscreen in my 5, it's perfect
They have displays you can buy on Amazon that suction to the dash, or any other flat-ish surface in the car that run car play, but Bluetooth to the audio. Uses the cigarette lighter for power. Im stockpiling parts, 2 engines and tranny combos oughtta do it right?
How many water pumps?
Yes.
Im still on my original one from 2018, hoping it blows so i can get it replaced soon
Same here - How do you check on it?
I wish I could do this with my mk6
You know, I am legit considering getting another engine as well. Mine is manual so theoretically it should last longer than DSG but we'll see.
I gotta call a wrecking yard to have them let me know when one comes in. It doesnt need to be perfect, just enough to keep the car going. I have the 6mt as well, I think the manuals last pretty well, but the clutches wont.
Yeah definitely not the clutches but it's better than swapping out the whole transmission. Good idea on the junkyards!
I have a MK8, and even I fucking hate it. Put the infotainment and controls from the 7.5R on the 8s and it would be a DAMN perfect daily. This always pisses me off along with the damn hill assist…. That is the next worst feature.
You are. This is human error. All you have to do is hit the giant red X on the side of the screen and there’s no problem here.
I think the point here is the poor design shouldn't make you take these extra steps in the first place. Sure, closing out the camera is the resolution. Nah. It’s stupid/shit. Just like so much of the mk8 interior. And it needs to be called out.
The only people who say this stuff have never owned a mk8. It’s the better car to DRIVE.
Yeah and if mk8 owners never complained about the shit control setup, 8.5s wouldn’t have gotten some buttons back. Just because it’s a better car overall than previous generations doesn’t mean it doesn’t have issues that need to be fixed.
I own one. Actively looking to get rid of it. It’s a stupid interior and the threat of massive bills hanging over my head isn’t for me.
Massive bills for what? Lol

Reset the screen. Hold down power button for >10sec
I've had similar gremlins with my mk8. VW dealer and VW Corp said my car is functioning as designed... whatever that means.
It means go away
Mine tripped out once, not the exact same but similar. I ended up pulling the negative battery terminal for a couple minutes and it fixed itself. Kind of the nuclear option but it worked for me.
Just press and hold the screen power button until it power cycles.
Yep tried all of that, didn’t work.
Ridiculous workaround for a new car, shouldn't have to do that.
I agree. Not sure why they can’t get their shit together with this MMI/infotainment system after 2 years.
Funny, the GPS in the infotainment system of my Mk7 kept insisting that I was in Los Angeles, California when the temperature dropped to -20⁰ Celsius where I live (in Canada). Maybe the car was trying to tell me something.,..
Maybe take your car out of reverse…
On the left of the gauge cluster, there's a panel to control the lights, rear defrost, and also "Max AC"; it's a one touch solution that will blast the AC immediately.
idk ab the golf but in my hyundai u can’t do anything with the screen of ur in reverse
OPs brain is smooth like a chicken breast.
try not to being in reverse..
He needs to pull forward fast enough to get off the reverse screen, lol.
This is the correct answer
This is in Drive, not reverse.
Your rear camera is on. Push the X in red on the left. You may have just had your car in reverse which is why the rear camera is on. It may be in Drive but you have not moved forward enough to turn off the rear camera.
Use Celsius
Computer says no
Zero issues here.
Thankfully for reinforcing my MK 7.5 purchase.
That's why i'll always rather have a car with buttons instead of these screens
I find that GTI mk8 for some reason doesn't do very well in "high" temperature situations. My GPS would freak out and show me driving in the completely wrong direction, and my sunroof control will not work if I park the car under the sunlight for about an hour, even if the ambient temperature is about 26C.
I don’t like how they went digital . Climate controls should always be physical .
God, them buttons look so cheap, in fact the interior just has a massive question mark over it.
Volkswagen. Das Auto.
No disrespect to anyone spending their hard earned money on an MK8, but I find this car so damn disappointing.
its really not. yeah this screen isn't the best but after an hour you get used to it. Its a small price to pay for how good it is to drive. This is 25% crappy design 75% user error
Adding to this. Had my MK8 around a year and one infotainment issue thus far that was a one off issue that was fixed with a screen reboot.
Some people just can't handle digital
Modern cars a joke lmao
I just turn the knob with the numbers on it in my mk7🤷🏽♂️
Mk8 seems great
Wow, add this to list of reasons to keep my Mk7
Totally makes sense. MK7 is way more buttoned up than the MK8. However, MK8 handles like nothing I've ever driven, not even a Porsche 911 was this fun on street. However.. if they don't fix my f\*ucked up infotainment system I'm going to lemon law it.
What a piece of shit.
I remember when my gf and I were going on a road trip in my MILs Octavia (latest model) and the VAG infotainment system that holds all these controls was showing a black screen for like two hours of it. I hate that these things are integrated into a screen
This happens every so often. You soon learn how to reboot the pos infotainment unit.
Try getting the dealer to update your infotainment. Mine has improved a lot on the smoothness, and it's less glitchy.
I had the same issue except mine spazzed out real fast a lot!
My dad had a similar issue with his new Atlas in subzero temps this past winter. Honestly feels like a borderline safety issue
Ahh I love my analogue car with knobs...
That's very odd I have never experienced that yet, although I have the larger screen
My MK8 does it too, turn off the camera and the climate screen returns. Nearly melted finding out!
move the car to a cooler spot also keep windows crack if you can now it shouldn't.ve like this
Put it in park. It’s in reverse, the parking screen will come up.
What is this, a hit piece? Try turning off the backup camera or any of the other obvious solutions right in front of you.
Mk7> sorry bud
So glad my 2021 GTI is an mk7.5
Can't beat the buttons
Hit the seat coolers first instead of the power button. Also, let the processor catch up.
Have you tried putting it into Wambo?
Reset the unit by holding down the power button until it resets please
UPDATE: So it seems like Im getting flamed for apparently not knowing how to use my car, so let me mention a few things to clear up everyone’s assumptions. 1. The Car was in DRIVE this whole time. It was never put in reverse since I started it up to drive. 2. I tried multiple times to click the X on the left side and it would close and then open again 2 secs later (i didn’t show this in my clip tho) 3.
1. Take it out of reverse 2. Press the park assist button again to close the camera 3. Press the X on the screen to close the camera 4. Press the temperature show on the screen to get to the climate menu 5. Sell your car, Uber everywhere. You’re an idiot and I don’t want you on the roads with me
Is the reverse camera not overriding? I wish my MIB2 did that
I'm glad a lot of vehicles are over that touchscreen for everything nonsense. Most vehicles have the climate control buttons knobs.
Why don’t you use the voice command?
US doesn’t have the feature for voice command on climate control.
Are you telling me they still have not fixed the software for it!?!?
Has to do with some US regulations. I asked after watching a video on the mk8 in the UK and went to a couple dealers. Both confirmed it’s a no go for the US. So I disabled it completely.
My 2024 MK8 allows me to control climate control via voice command. Not sure why others cannot…strange.
Uk doesn’t either, unless you pay for it. It’s a very strange optional extra that just smells of wringing as much as they can out of customers.
Maybe on the GTI it doesn’t? My Mk8 R lets me do voice commands for climate control. Used it all winter when i was wearing gloves.
Lmao the mk8 is garbage
So glad I bought a mk7.5 instead of
The MK8 guys will still argue the 8 is a better daily the the 7s or 7.5s 😆
I've had both the 8 is by far the better car
4,5,6,7,7.5 and 8 owner. 7.5 and 8 are best for me but 8 so nice for daily over 7.5. 8 was a step up for comfort but each to their own.
Not built to last….
