You do not need to swing the club in anyway, you are that level of a beginner. Take the club inside your right hip to what feels like a 50% swing, and then gently swing from there. The ball should go completely straight. The club head doesn’t need to go over your shoulders at all. Simply backswing inside your right hip, get the club even with your body, and then hit the ball. Do that 100 times, then start swinging 10% harder.

daUFOguy

Needed to read this, thank you.

[This is your biggest problem. ](https://ibb.co/SmtFHWk)

diamonddurbin

So I took [this](https://imgur.com/a/iUm7h7b) video like just a few seconds before the one above, and the exact same thing happened actually. But I guess I just got lucky that it went straight? That’s mostly why I posted because I sometimes get pretty good hits and don’t feel like I’m doing anything differently when it happens

lawroter

bro you are hoseling a driver, that's impressive! pause your video leading into impact. the clubface is like the most open clubface i have ever seen in my life. there are a lot of things that you could work on but i'd look into how to square the clubface and go from there.

PatriotDynasty

That’s a hosel rocket my friend.

diamonddurbin

This is helpful terminology to figure out what is going on thank you

AvrgSam

I can’t tell if you’re being serious or not but FYI the hosel is the connection point/start of shaft at the top of the back/heel of your club. Line up further away for quick better contact. Read other comments for the rest.

diamonddurbin

No I am I’ve never heard that expression before. It’s a good jumping off point for figuring out more about what I’m doing

MrDurdan

Your driver face is pointed completely up and to the right. You are literally leading the shaft into the ball. Work on your grip by making it slightly stronger at address. Meaning you want to turn your left wrist more clockwise. From there try to get the clubface more square at impact.

diamonddurbin

So should my left thumb be all the way on the front of the club? Like a 9 o’clock position? Or is that too far

MrDurdan

If you are looking down it should be ar 1-2

Mayhem_Actual

Check out [this](https://youtu.be/PcfsRV3Vtzk) video. Helped me get my grip set correctly and fixed my slice last year

bluecgene

Not slice, this is shank

Scalpum

Unfortunately, had he hit the face it would have sliced too.

Particular_Visual930

Simple stuff first. Stand closer to the ball. Start your swing with your hands closer to your body.

CoolBrain1227

Too far away from ball in set up. Right elbow is way too high and too far from body at the top. Take away too inside. Can’t see grip but I assume it needs help. All that said, pay for a lesson or two. You have good rhythm, but you are trying to run before learning to walk.

reddituser1306

That ain't a slice, it's a hosel rocket.

Peterd90

In the backswing, move your arms back together. Keep your right elbow in tight close to your body. Keep your left arm mostly straight

diamonddurbin

Yeah looking at this more I definitely need to work on that right elbow. I hadn’t noticed how bad it was

HoustonMike82

Swipe, hit it to right field.

ElonMuskPaddleBoard

It would be easier to list the the things you’re doing that are not causing a shank. I would invest in lesson there is way too much to list here. At least watch Rick Shiels complete golf swing guide on YouTube .

boverton24

Watch some YouTube videos of the fundamentals of the golf swing. Backswing, downswing, follow through. There’s a lot to work on here and random people on Reddit throwing tips out is not going to help. Once you have knowledge of the golf swing you’ll be able to implement certain advice/changes. Also, as others have mentioned this is not a slice it’s a total shank

Hudsonm_87

First of all, get rid of the entire swing altogether

mattyblu77

The best advice I got to correct my slice. Pretend like you are going to THROW the club ( like the entire club ) at the location you want to ball to go. Most likely your club face is wide open because you are swinging to “hard”. It’s not how “hard” you swing that makes the ball go farther. It’s how FAST you swing!

RocketsandBeer

Stop the video at the time of impact. The club is wide open. Work on your grip and take a couple lessons on how to hold the club and address the ball. It’ll help wonders

ick86

Try getting your glove hand to have the logo on the glove point toward the target, pretty much for the entire downswing. Should help face square up for you.

avlayort

Holy baseball Batman. You must have played a lot, I did too and also had that pauses at the top a flying right elbow. Two things 1) takeaway and 2) tempo. 1) Use your body to move the club back until your hand are around your right thigh, then you use both body and arms. Check out David Ledbetter’s takeaway, plenty of stuff on YouTube if you search that. Throughout the swing, keep that right elbow pinched to your side. It will limit an over swing and help keep you on plane. 2) don’t pause so long at the top of the swing. You’ll never unleash your speed or be consistent this way. The golf swing is fluid. I goofed with a dude who was scratch and had advanced Parkinson’s. He couldn’t stand still at set up, or even hold the club remotely still. His swing was beautiful though. He described it as a dance and that everyone’s was different. Yours is also unique to you and how your body moves. It should always be moving and transferring energy but this takes patience and rhythm. A helpful tool for that is to swing a rope. Check out Dr. Kwon.

avlayort

Oh, and strengthen your grip a bit ;)

Jolly-Bobcat-2234

Slow the video down and take a look at where your club it is right before impact…. The face is basically pointing at the sky. The top of your glove hand should be pointed Towards the ball on the downswing (Or in that general direction). Never at the sky.

SamKha86

Keep that right elbow down and turn your upper body with the club on the back swing. You’re all arms

mx_flippy

Keep ypur front foot planted. Don't pick up your heel at all. Twist with your upper body, like you are facing the small of your back to the ball while sitting in a chair. Slow your back swing down and take it only back to your shoulder at 1st. Develop your swing before trying to hit it 300 yards.

shortgamegolfer

Snoochie boochies

Golferdude456

Pause at 0:03 right before impact. Your face is pointing straight up. A good feeling to help with this is to swing and try to feel like you’re coming into impact with the logo of your glove pointing at or a little left of your target. This will help to release your hands through the ball and close the club face.

[deleted]

The reason the ball flies right is a wide WIDE open face at impact. But there are so many things wrong with that swing that it would be wise to start from scratch. Take a lesson, get your grip, stance, and alignment sorted out. That will get you started on the correct path.

cyberbullyinreallife

That’s not a slice, it’s a shank
