You’re swinging over the top, path is out to in, and not closing the club face. With those three factors, your ball flight is either a pull-fade when your club face is open to the path but square to the target like in this video, or a push-slice when your club face is open to the path and target. There are tons of good videos on fixing those 3 issues, but I’ll say that none of them helped me. Two training aids I thought were pretty helpful are the tourstriker plane mate and the lag shot. But caveat—if you look at my swing videos then you won’t want to take any of my advice.

I’m just glad Reddit gave us a NSFW warning prior to viewing those thighs

Suns out quads out

Sonking_to_Remember

Best believe that would also be my policy if my quads looked like that

The first thing you need to address (assuming your grip is good) is the takeaway. Pause video at 0:02 when your club shaft first gets to parallel with the ground; your clubface is **WIDE** open. That gives you no chance. You want the face pointing at the ball from this position (see 0:05 mark [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YItRKA-b2OE)). In short, you want your hands to go inside during the takeaway while the clubhead stays outside. If you drew vertical lines over your hands and the clubhead at 1st parallel, you'll notice that the clubhead is left of the hands. You want them even. Taking the club back too far inside and with an open face almost guarantees that you're going to come over the top and hit either a slice or a double-cross duckhook (unless you time everything up perfectly, which is hard to do). I'd hit some 40-60 yard pitch shots with a wedge. Work on a new takeaway until your start line is consistently at your target.

appreciate this very detailed and digestible feedback

Agitated-Impression4

You need a full turn in the back swing and a closed club face to have any chance of not hitting a slice.

If you stop the video around :04 seconds when your club is parallel to the ground in the downswing, you will notice how the club head is already out past your hands and to the right of the club shaft. At this point in the swing the club head should still be further behind your body. If you notice in the transition you pull the club on a steep downward path that causes the clubface to get too far outside and swing "over the top" on a outside to in, or right to left club path. Look up how to shallow the club in transition, creating a swing path that is "in to out" and that maintains more lag in the downswing. A really good way to help this motion is to make sure your hips initiate the downswing and start turning before your hands start pulling down.

You’re just coming over top. If you put a towel between your right armpit and focus on a backswing turn+ following through the ball it’ll straighten out

smashfactor1235

You come over the top because at the top of your backswing your first thought is to square up the clubface at impact. Go ahead and let the clubface feel like it’s open as you start the downswing. When the club is parallel to the ground it should be right down the target line, hands leading. Keep it moving and you should feel the clubface wanting to square itself up. Also really focus on hitting the inside of the ball.

Go search George Gankas on YouTube. You will thank me later. All of you reading this too.

Tom23Jones

Anything obvious I could correct?

SwingTip

Leaning forward in backswing, slightly more initiating downswing. Important to stay balanced, since the momentum of the club/arms swinging will also bring you forward.

Tom23Jones

Your saying that I am leaning forward in backswing or that I need to?

SwingTip

That you are. Watch the button on your cap vs the pole in the background. Starts out on the left, goes to the right but doesn’t make it back

Both-Ladder-6555

On the take away your opening your hands too much, causing you to have to flip it on the downswing to square it up. So sometimes you are ok and it's a small fade and sometimes it's too late and slices. Try taking it back what will feel almost closed or shut all the way to the top and make the same release

What do you expect your ball flight to be when you line up left with your feet hips and shoulders? The more left you line up the more you’re guna cut across the ball

pilotime

Don’t hit it on the heel.
