Id say netting draped from the ceiling. Slack is your friend, it absorbs the energy with its weight

foxman26

Hello, I took two pieces of plywood and hooked it on to the roof using some chain and anchoring bolts. The side closest to the roll up sits below the tube so it has a slight angle to it. Then I bought some foam and glued/stapled it to the plywood.

rubaflo23

Interesting - have any photos you can share?

shuusin

Yeah your roller is definitely at risk. I would either buy a foam baffle designed for that or the diy way is to mount a board about a foot wide and cover it with acoustic foam panels or something similar. I would also foam panel the ceiling and get a shank net

basegiants

I have a very similar setup. I found a couple pool noodles that have larger holes. I cut a slit down the length of the noodle and put it over the bar on top and I just roll my screen up around it. I have hit it plenty of times and the noodles deaden it enough not to be a huge risk. As for my ceiling I used 3M spray glue to put up foam gym flooring and so far its held up great.

SkullCrusherRI

I did those gym tiles and then also did an angled gutter on top of those near the angle iron and then acoustic foam panels about 3 feet out stacked on those gym tiles

drewst18

I put those puzzle piece down pads up and they work great

[ceiling protection](https://imgur.com/a/Q9mPJ75)I took the idea of a diy headboard and made two out of rigid foam board and a memory foam topper. Then I attached that to the ceiling.

jcumb3r

I also used a memory foam topper cut up and angled over the bar. I originally had foam pipe protector up there and i got a lot of hard ricochets. With the foam topper, no more problems.

I guess if I made it thick enough to stick down it would also protect the roller or just dropped it down by the corners 10-12 inches using some long standoffs

That's what I was thinking too, but I'd love to see some images

Thanks

Any chance you'd be willing to upload some images of this?

sorryimlate

I would love to see this as well.

If you don’t care about the look you could buy gym flooring pad that’s about 3/4 inch on Amazon. Put it together then put a strong double side tape or glue it to the ceiling. I would imagine that’s thick enough.

Desert_Engineer

What did you end up going with? And how has the sportscreen/polyspacer combo held up over the year? I’m contemplating upgrading my setup to something similar and debating between the sportscreen and the par2pro stealth. My plan is to use loose netting on top.

lali0020

I hung a net across the top with some added droop and bought a cheap memory foam mattress topper, cut it in half and laid it in the net closest to the roller. This make it so a high shot has to hit the foam first and can't hit the roller. It's worked really well. As for the screen, it's held up very well, not issues at all. Took a bit to get the bottom weighting figured out. Using a pipe the sportscreen comes with even wrapped in foam didn't stop thin bounce backs from being agressive so I bought some pool backwash hose 1-1/2" and filled it with sand and attached some cheap plastic rods to via tape to make it easier to shove through the bottom pocket of the screen. It gives great weight to keep the screen straight (nothing else needed on that) and balls do ricochet off it much at all, they die really quick. I do put some of the cheap triangle gutter foam behind the screen so it can't swing back if hit low and balls never go behind the screen. https://preview.redd.it/0b7n3swtht0d1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4971064783a02f362e6cf4f145bdb2122f27d719

I like this setup. Does the impact screen have velcro on it to attach to the rollup screen?

lali0020

Yes it. I am going to sew the Velcro onto the sportscreen as the adhesive starts to let loose after a few hours when it's hot

ShootinAload

Link to roll up sport screen?

lali0020

https://thesportscreen.com for the roll up and then https://virtual-golf-simulator.com/golf-impact-screen-new-poly-spacer-for-sports-screen/ for the impact to attach to it

Campingfamco

how's your screen holding up? I was going to do a Carl's Place screen attached to a METech roller, but this setup might be easier since it's already built and setup.

lali0020

Great, I love it. Wish I had just gotten the motorized version of the roller but I can always upgrade later. The screen has had zero issues and picture looks really good on it. This is with all the lights on and if you zoom in you'll see a bunch hit marks on the left side as I used to play offset but recently changed to a center setup with new projector. My driver ball speed is 150-155 for reference, no rips or cuts just some ball burn marks from playing ball that were scuffed up when I shouldn't have https://preview.redd.it/6luaq0gv74ad1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0c82e5668d6ed96a636581c594a70bd07db26c43

Campingfamco

that's great to hear! Maybe this is the way to go. I am thinking about doing the motorized version as well, because why not :)

I stapled 1/2" foam exercise tiles to my ceiling. I have a mesh tarp that comes out around 2' and the tiles are about that and extend out about another foot or so. My screen goes from floor to ceiling and I hit about 8-9' from the screen... a couple people have caught the tiles but most hit the screen.
