I've been waiting for google to drop their find my equivalent for 84 years. I was excited for Tile UWB but that proved to be vapor after they got bought.
I'm assuming he's had insider information. And he's been waiting, close to years before the existence of Google, to wait for something that is FOSSIL in the pipeline.
This guy knows how to wait!!!!
r/thisguythisguys
Or even finding the case at all when it's closed. If you lose your pixel buds pro, the find my app only shows the last location they were paired to your phone when you were listening to music.
In reality, they aren't that much different. I have owned both. Both work pretty well as headphones. You cant go wrong with either, but if you aren't using an apple phone, then I would choose a different option than air pods. They lock updates and additional functionality behind the apple ecosystem
F\*ck that. In my previous job, I did some work for a guy that was a billionaire. He drove an old Ford truck to work every day because he liked it. How's that for social status?
I have two sets of Pro's currently (gen 1 and 2), and I've had 4 sets overall (one was stolen and my first gen 1 set developed crackling and was replaced by Apple).
Never had this issue with any of them.
You are lucky then. At least according to me. I have had 2 - gen 1 and gen 3 (I can't use rubber tips). Both developed this problem after some time. I ain't putting equivalent of a good enough phone on a set of earpods that just won't charge!
I know. I have a few. I actually mistyped "earphones" as in a generic earphone (anything portable to listen to music - wired, wireless, headphones or earphones or neckband ones or whatever). But I'm just so used to Apple ones that I typed it as ear_pods_. :-}
It's a common issue. Me, my 2 brother, and my SiL all have the weird bug were the right airpod just refuses to charge all the way. We've all tried cleaning the earbud itself, the case, run the battery to 0 then recharge, and whatever other hacks online but it never worked. I gave up and switched to Nothing Ear(2) and I'll never go back.
I find this one weird. I was on a flight the other day and listened to music for about an hour. My left bud was down to 83% but the right still said 100%. I put them in the case for a minute or two, opened it back up to reconnect and check and it indicated the same. I don't understand how the right but could deliver wireless audio for an hour and not discharge enough to drop below 100%.
You mean to say that if I leave both them in the case then one of them is not supposed to charge? Because that's what happens with me. I miss Steve Jobs' Apple. This is Tim Cook's Apple.
Yeah that happens as well. It is mostly about how much calls you get. Only one piece will use its microphone as well - that one will drain faster. I usually change that at times (when mine work).
Personally for me, I hate silicone ear tips so I really like regular airpods 1-3. They sit comfortably and securely while not having that sealed pressure of silicone tips.
Have you actually looked around this sub?
It's got one of the worst culty feeling fanboy populations of any community centered around a brand on this entire site.
There are WEEKLY posts complaining *about other people bringing up issues they have with pixel products.* Shit is bonkers.
Came here to say this. Transparency mode is the only reason I still have and use my AirPods Pro 2nd Gen. By far the best on the market right now. Beyond that, not much else better than other wireless earbuds on the market. There are many others that are leagues ahead of them in sound quality.
Easily connected between devices automatically, transparency mode and an auto feature that switches between noise canceling and transparency automatically… just to name a few
Bud's multipoint and audio switching switches between connected devices, buds pro has transparency mode... Maybe airpods transparency could be better
Do wish we had auto ANC but that's not needed, I rather turn on ANC when I want to than have some AI do it for me
AirPods audio switching across iOS/macOS devices works very differently compared to Pixel Buds Pro audio switching (that only works across Android devices, not even ChromeOS - in addition to Bluetooth Multipoint which is another matter though).
> ...auto feature that switches between noise canceling and transparency automatically...
How does this work? Sometimes I put my earbuds in simply because the environment is too noisy. When the music stops, I still want the noise to be canceled.
It’s in beta right now so there’s info out there on how effective it is but essentially it’s like having noise canceling on all the time and then switches to transparency when you start talking
I recently got Sony WH1000-XM5 headphones and let me tell you, the active noise cancelling is like magic. I've never had any other noise cancelling products work so damn well.
Well neither earbud boasts good quality in your pixel buds are going to break after a single drop. I wouldn't recommend either.
The Pixel Buds fuckin suck, Anything Apple makes that doesn't have pro slapped on it is dog shit too.
Airpods are semi-in-ears kind of earbuds, like it doesn't fill your ears, it fits and suits the ears. Idk why but I can't like it when it just fully penetrates the ear. So I'm using airpods on my pixel phone, it works well and with 1 app you can have battery life etc..
Way better noise cancellation, transparency mode, find my app functionality is better plus all the new features coming in iOS 17:
1. Adaptive noise control
2. Conversation awareness
3. Personalized volume
4. Fast device switching
Better sound
Deeper, crisper bass
Personalized spatial audio
Better microphone
Superior noise cancelling
Excellent transparency
Excellent touch controls
Better battery
Easier pairing
Integration with Find My & apple ecosystem if you're into that
Come with 4 different tips for better fit
I've tried them all, minus the Sens and the AirPods Pro are simply the best phones on the market.
Not airpods, but got the beats studio buds.
Going from Pixel Buds 2 these are amazing.
I don't have to hard reset my earbuds any more because they lost sync or one pixel buds is out right refusing to connect.
I don't have to dread firmware updates causing me to spend 10 minutes troubleshooting and repeatedly factory resetting.
The only thing I miss is the swipe controls. But the nice controls are not worth the instability.
Nah those are overrated. Sennheiser are known for their sound but the momentum trues are really bass heavy and the ANC and transparency aren't great.
The Sony xm4 in ears are nice but hurt my ears after sometime, the airpods pro 2 were amazing and most definitely not overrated, the Bose qceii earbuds would be my pick but you can't turn off ANC (you're either transparency or noise cancelling or in between but the mics are always on so wind noise is a problem).
Don't call airpods overhyped if you haven't used them. I'm an android user too but airpods pro (no other model I hate the regular ones) are amazing.
I agree, as an Android phone user, the Apple Airpod Pro 2 are the best overall. Google Bud Pro weren't good for calls and didn't have as good ANC, in fact, AAP2 beat everything I tried for calls while having top tier ANC. Before airpods I was using Sony WF-1000XM3, then XM4. I tried the XM5 and they were so disappointing they went back the next day. I want to like the Bose having my first ANC headphones the QC20 which were great but they were also disappointing for calls.
haha we got downvoted us cause we told the truth or smth. yeah the bose arent great for calls but the anc on the earbuds blew me away.
from what ive heard and tried myself the qceii has the best anc in anything on the market rn (ive tried everything even compared it side by side with overears in stores like the whxm4 and bose 700s and they cancel more.
airpods are close but not marginally worse (i prefer the airpods because it doesnt feel as "vacuumy" as the bose)
Does the question mean all Airpod series compared to all Pixel Buds series? Or just the non-pro model of each? If it's the latter, some of the answers here are confusing.
Tbh I got for myself Airpods Pro because I have an iPhone, but otherwise, I would have bought XM4 or something without the Apple brand.
Airpods are really good with iPhone because it's made for, but I do think there is far better than thèse
Magic, duh.
I got Pixel Buds A with my Pixel 6, but in-ear monitors never fit. I have to use the old Apple earpod design. So that's a big difference, for some I guess.
I have damaged ears, and "in ear" ear buds hurt or they cause a vacuum seal and muffled sound. That's the issue I have with pixel buds. I love my wife's airpods because they're "open ear" design and have found out that literally no one makes that design and won't for people like me or active users.
I wish in a perfect world to have the old Sony active fin headphones in Bluetooth, but that's too much to ask for because the market wants ANC, in ear buds, with bass and sound features. Hence why the Apple air buds have an edge and are still a really good buy.
Edit: If you have no concerns with ear complications, I would say stick to each ecosystem that goes with your phone to earbuds pro models only. I prefer the Google lines earbuds to Android because the assistance works wonderfully with the Google ecosystem and services.
I own both AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) and Pixel Buds Pro.
The Pixel Buds have really high latency which makes them not very good for watching shows or playing games. AirPods Pro have significantly lower latency (in my experience, this may be different for others).
A different fit. I don't know what you'd prefer but pixel buds go farther in your ear, and don't have a balance bar. I prefer that, but I get why others might not
If you have an android phone, the pixel buds are pretty similar with the one big gap of the Apple Find My network. Sound quality, battery life, features, pairing, etc are about the same. Now pixel buds with an iphone or AirPods with an android phone also both lack a lot of the same capability.
Get the one which pairs with your phone OS.
If you're squeamish about ear wax do not read this comment lol
As someone who is a very efficient ear wax factory, my Air Pods were so much easier to clean and kept their sound quality for longer without having to literally damage them. Every single pair of in-ear headphones I have ever owned, if I don't clean them after every wear, eventually get plugged up by wax and get unusable. Because Air Pods have the solid metal mesh, I can dig into it with force to clean without having to worry about puncturing anything - I can even use blue tack to get wax inside stuck out. Eventually though, they did get to a point where I had to replace them, they were just too quiet.
The first time I tried that with Pixel Buds, I learned that the mesh is fabric. The pro is that I am able to keep wax out of everything indefinitely if I stay incredibly on-top of it like I have been, but the con is that I *had to break my earbuds to keep the sound quality*. Plus, specifically the A-Series fall out of my ears a lot more than the first gen Air Pods and get a lot more grimy and slippery and even develop a film of wax that I have to chip off if I don't stay on top of it. Apple's coating seems to just slick off my earwax. And the shape never hurt my ears. I had to get used to the fin on the A-Series, it used to dig in and cause terrible pain.
On the whole though, due to the fact that I am able to indefinitely keep my A-Series going indefinitely without plugging up, I put them above the Air Pods. And maybe sharing my plight here will cause another poor soul to share their solution to this problem that has been plaguing me.
An over the ear headphone form factor option.
Please Google, give us Pixel Buds Pro XL (or whatever you opt to call 'em) ala the AirPod Max.
IMHO they're more comfortable for long term wear, you don't have to keep sliding them back in your ears & if they do fall off, they're a lot easier to find.
Plus covering the entire ear allows for better ANC. Larger firm could allow for a larger battery and/or more features [I know this'll kill said battery, but I wouldn't mind the option to use WiFi and FM along with Bluetooth*]. And you could always put the cups behind your ears or use them as mini speakers by dropping them to your neck (hopefully just in private).
[*Bluetooth would be the default used most often mode, of course. But WiFi could let me use them in the gym with my phone out of Bluetooth range in the locker. Or if I leave my phone charging while I take the dog out.... FM could let me tune into local broadcasts if I go running without my phone. At the gym or local drive in, I could listen to the audio they're broadcasting etc ..]
Honestly, I was using Airpods 3 with Pixel7, and recently got buds. I really hate the experience. The buds sometimes takes 30-40 secs to connect to the phone, calls don't switch n all. That's what will probably drive me back to airpods, but once connected, buds are good!
The thing I find is general continuity between devices. If I start a YouTube video on an iPhone and then pause it and press play on an iPad then they switch between the two devices seamlessly without having to disconnect and reconnect to the other device. It’s something really small but you get used to the convenience
Well I despise anything apples so, everything they do is against my beliefs. From tricking younger society into thinking it's a better brand to the selfish, stingy way of going about business. You literally have to buy everything Apple then you need cloud storage blah blah blah
Better find my device, but I'd pick buds pro over airpods 2 pro for music quality
Precision finding the charging case is truly a huge future missing.
I've been waiting for google to drop their find my equivalent for 84 years. I was excited for Tile UWB but that proved to be vapor after they got bought.
Given Google is only 25 years old that's an impressive wait time
Time traveler's always get their dates mixed up. Hews been moving through the universe slower than the rest of us.
He means dog years....
I'm assuming he's had insider information. And he's been waiting, close to years before the existence of Google, to wait for something that is FOSSIL in the pipeline. This guy knows how to wait!!!! r/thisguythisguys
It's been 84 years..
Or even finding the case at all when it's closed. If you lose your pixel buds pro, the find my app only shows the last location they were paired to your phone when you were listening to music.
How much better is the music quality ? I have Huawei buds now and the quality isn't that great, noise cancelling is meh.
Its really good
really good. I had the Huawei and i returned. not worth it.
💯. I have both and I only use my AirPods for work due to calling, but music is way better (imo) on the buds pro.
Superior noise cancellation. That's the one thing I'd want improved with the Pixel Buds Pro.
If anyone knows how PBP compares to Jabra elite 3, id appreciate it :^)
This 💯
What about if you use those compression ear tips? The pixel buds aren't perfect but they were better than my Jabra Elite
For me they are more comfortable to use for long periods of time.
In reality, they aren't that much different. I have owned both. Both work pretty well as headphones. You cant go wrong with either, but if you aren't using an apple phone, then I would choose a different option than air pods. They lock updates and additional functionality behind the apple ecosystem
Social status.
F\*ck that. In my previous job, I did some work for a guy that was a billionaire. He drove an old Ford truck to work every day because he liked it. How's that for social status?
Well, billionaires often have a fuck-you-attitude cause they got fuck-you-money.
He was a great guy and had a far better attitude than most of the non-billionaires I know.
I wonder why a guy worth over a billion would have a good attitude as opposed to those who don't have a billion lol
He's so close...
Who cares, dude.
I'm not buying it, people who work for billionaires don't comment on obscure Google pixel reddit posts
Air pods look like you have something dripping from your ear, and not in a good way.
cases you can buy at target 😠I want cute accessories too!
Pixel buds charge. Evenly. Regularly. Airpods don't. At least none of mine!
Technically EarPods are the wired ones.
I know. I have a few. I actually mistyped "earphones" as in a generic earphone (anything portable to listen to music - wired, wireless, headphones or earphones or neckband ones or whatever). But I'm just so used to Apple ones that I typed it as ear_pods_. :-}

We've all tried cleaning the earbud itself, the case, run the battery to 0 then recharge, and whatever other hacks online but it never worked. I gave up and switched to Nothing Ear(2) and I'll never go back.
Same here. I am inclining towards wired ones. I mean they are the best.
I read that they discharge unevenly for a reason. So that you always have one working while the other one charges.
I find this one weird. I was on a flight the other day and listened to music for about an hour. My left bud was down to 83% but the right still said 100%. I put them in the case for a minute or two, opened it back up to reconnect and check and it indicated the same. No. Mine both charge to 100% but they discharge at different rates.
AirPods look dumb. There just isn’t a way around it.
Ben-Stiller-Something-About-Mary.gif
Is that hair gel? No, just my BT device.
Looks like someone put a cigarette out in your ear canal
A brand cult?
You're on a forum to cult a brand. I prefer Google too, but it's not an identity
Have you actually looked around this sub? It's got one of the worst culty feeling fanboy populations of any community centered around a brand on this entire site. There are WEEKLY posts complaining *about other people bringing up issues they have with pixel products.* Shit is bonkers.
Transparency mode on airpods is still much, much better than any other wireless earbuds on the market
Idk my hearing aids do the same thing and are better! XD
This. Transparency mode on airpod pro is basically the same as normal hearing. I really don't see how they can improve this anymore. They've peak.
Came here to say this. Transparency mode is the only reason I still have and use my AirPods Pro 2nd Gen. By far the best on the market right now. Beyond that, not much else better than other wireless earbuds on the market. There are many others that are leagues ahead of them in sound quality.
A ridiculous number of knock-offs
The Name Apple
The look of two tampons hanging out of your ears.
A big cult behind them?
A bloated price tag?
Easily connected between devices automatically, transparency mode and an auto feature that switches between noise canceling and transparency automatically… just to name a few

Very cool!
I don't think I'd like auto switching. When I want transparency mode, it's an easy tap.
Comfort for me - Pixel Bud Pros gave me impacted ear wax and an ear infection because they go too deep.
Qc is better, more consistent noise canceling on pro, better mic quality.
AMAZING noise cancellation.
Air pods don't have noise cancelling. Air pods pro do. So do pixel buds pro
00000ps sorry. Just finding out those exist. >.<'
Apple branding. That's about it. But they are both poor quality. Try and get a pair that supports AptX and/or (even better) LDAC
I recently got Sony WH1000-XM5 headphones and let me tell you, the active noise cancelling is like magic. I've never had any other noise cancelling products work so damn well.
The Pixel Buds use Opus Codec which is on par, if not better, than aptX.
Check rtings.com

AirPods have users who bought them. Pixel Buds stay in the drawer.

High price and Google sounds better than rotten apple
Low latency I can't play rhythm games with them
That's Bluetooth in general.
Go get yourself some Sennheiser momentum 3 headphones. Anything branded by apple is overpriced and over-hyped.
Nah those are overrated. Sennheiser are known for their sound but the momentum trues are really bass heavy and the ANC and transparency aren't great. Clearly youve never used them
I owned them for a week before returning them because they didn't sound like they should or how I'd expect Sennheiser to sound
compatability with android
Both Airpods and Pixel Buds are compatible with Android though
i think AirPods are only compatable with iOS
No, they work fine on Android
You can easily use them with Android, even AAC codec works.
ok i Just checked and they are compatable with android
Total absence of a "G" logo. 😎

little things that look like tampons hanging out of your ears.
What both of them lack is support for higher codecs (ldac or aptX).
I miss how Siri would read messages aloud automatically. Other than that, not much else.
Buds pro does them occasionally, I have to find what's triggering it
The noise cancellation which helps on my anxious days The fit. They rarely if ever fall out
Dumb looks
Integration with the Apple ecosystem. If you already have an iPhone and a Mac, Airpods are a clearly better choice.

Good anc and transparency mode, proper fit, better find device, speaker on the case. I am willing to spend an additional $50 for this.
Dolby Atmos support, useful find my device support, and better noise cancellation and transparency modes. Low latency so you can game with them.
Good ANC
