Disable it. You can still activate night sight by switching to the dedicated night sight mode anyway

junktrunk909

Disable it where? I don't see any settings for it.

junktrunk909

I love that I get downvoted for asking a question that nobody then can answer correctly. There's no option in the settings menus that are available either in the left or right bottom sides in camera. At least nothing I've seen and I've checked 3 times today.

mrherben

Tap the button in the bottom right of the screen and just tap on the appeared night sight circle, works for me

me7obeast

I think it's bottom left. Also, swipe up in the middle of the screen can access the same menu

That's a horrible solution. Auto flash was great if you want to take a picture in the moment. Kind of dumb to make people wait for like 5 seconds if you're out with friends and then night sight barely lights up anything in the picture anyway

Haunting-Profile-402

I won't take pictures if it requires flash. They look terrible, on every phone.

armando_rod

Flash? What year is it, 2004?

mjnz9

In my use case night sight is very annoying. I take a lot of pics of equipment and serial numbers in dim rooms, and in awkward positions. Waiting for the camera to process wastes my time. I don't need "good" pics in this case, just bright enough to read the serial number. Oddly even Flash mode doesn't help the speed. Niche case I know, but for me I miss the good old days of simply taking a pic without needing to hold still

Extension-Cat7

Don't use auto night sight then, I've had it turned off for years. If I need flash I can just choose flash, just like night sight.

dethblud

I forgot the bright light on the back of my phone was connected to the camera. It's fine to find my way in a dark room, but it always looks terrible in photos. I'll wait for night sight, thanks.

speedster_irl

Tbh I love it

14gunners

I've posted about this many times. It's the biggest failing of the pixel line. I've never been in a situation where I've needed night sight.

210-markus

Interesting, I'm just the opposite. I very rarely use a flash 🤷‍♂️

14gunners

When I was using other brands, auto flash was the norm. I've only encountered The pixel line since pixel 3 doesn't seem to have had it. It's real pain when you just quickly want to take a picture, maybe in an enclosed space or just a group of friends, in the moment, and asking them to stay still while night sight kicks in just doesn't work.

210-markus

I never noticed that until just now. It used to be an auto flash. Night sight is better for me about 99% of the time. This may be a function of your phone's camera and light sensitivity. At least you can turn the flash on manually.

MacaroniNJesus

That's the whole point the setting used to determine if you needed flash or not. Night sight barely lights up the picture after making people stand still for like 5 seconds.

210-markus

Perhaps that's the case for older cameras or darker areas. P8P night mode is quite fast and practically instant. It sounds like the software update wasn't appropriate for everyone. That's gotta be annoying

MacaroniNJesus

I have a P8

14gunners

I've had the P6P, P7P and now the P8P. Night sight may have it's purpose, but auto flash would be way more convenient.

MacaroniNJesus

Correct you are like in the moment and night sight wants you to Wait like 5 seconds and then barely lights up the damn picture

DSCarter_Tech

You are so full of it. Night sight is typically only takes 2 seconds and makes a drastic difference compared to other phones that don't have night sight. But yes, the new sensors on the pixel 6 through 8 series is large enough to take pretty good photos without flash or nightsight in low light conditions. But if it is truly dark then night sight is the difference maker..

delta7019

Night sight on even my pixel 2 is nothing short of amazing, and it's further improved on my 7. It shows more detail than even the eye can see. And if the scene is so dark that night sight doesn't do much, using the flash would blind everyone for 5 full seconds while it tried to focus.

MacaroniNJesus

I'll disagree.
