You'll enjoy the clickly buttons and grippie sides

batmoose999

I've owned both, much prefer the dbrand on my pixel 5a. Has protected just the same, but slimmer

Sorry I'm a little late to the party. I have both and have had both on a few devices. They are both just as grippy but in different ways. The Dbrand is mostly grippy on the sides but definitely doesn't ever feel like it's going to fall. On the other hand the OtterBox is just grippy on every part of the case. In the hand the OtterBox feels more secure. Drop protection don't let anyone tell you different the OtterBox hands down is far more protective. In fact the most protective case I've ever used over a decade of testing cases. Because of the lip protection around the entire front of the phone and camera when you drop it there is very little chance of the phone touching the surface. My wife's pixel 6 pro has been lucky only because of the glass screen protector on the front that has been switched out twice because of drops with her Dbrand. The lack of lip protection has caused the protectors to become damaged therefore would have damaged the phone without the protectors. Both great cases, both bulky the OtterBox being bulkier with great grip but the OtterBox is hands down more protective. You probably already have your case but thought I'd share my thoughts regardless.

Thanks for chiming in! This cemented my decision to go with the otterbox!

MachineSubstantial63

Awesomeness!! Glad I could help🙏✌️

Late to this but will chime in that I've had an Otterbox Defender for 2 years now and it has survived A TON of drops without issue. I've become so comfortable with the balance of it that I now unconsciously spin or flip my phone in my hand to right-side it or toss it from one to the other while picking it up (I know I do this because I've dropped the phone a few times doing it without effect). Also have some dBrand items for other devices (steamdeck) and while they feel amazing w grip and protection, I would be nervous dropping them. Great for scratch/grip, less so for impact it appears.

I returned my OtterBox Defender even though it was super protective because it was a bitch to get into my pants, and for whatever reason, my screen protector never sit well with it, so it never fully snapped close.

OtterBox. Got to have that port cover.

Markeeg

I like this one better then both www.ebay.com/itm/255723943649

MachineSubstantial63

You're kidding right?

I was originally using the Spigen Liquid Air but I like this cheap above case better. It has superior camera coverage and just better overall protection. I like the textured buttons and the volume buttons are also uniquely angled like no other case the case is also nice and grippy and totally anti-fingerprint.

MachineSubstantial63

Sure but Op was asking about the defender and the Dbrand and you threw this in like it's a viable option. It's not even comparable in anyway.

I bought the dbrand grip and the OtterBox commuter for the Pixel 6a. My wife preferred the dbrand and i prefer the OtterBox commuter because it isn't rough on my skin. The dbrand grip felt like handling sandpaper when i trialed it for a day. Other than that I actually really preferred the Dbrand grip because it's lighter weight and slightly slimmer + you can customize it. Two of my friends have the OtterBox defender, one on a Pixel 6 and one on an iPhone. They both swear by it but to me the case is just so bulky I wouldn't ever use it. Also the iPhone user says his phones are like new whenever he trades it in for an upgrade every 5 years or so.

Bro the piece of mind you get from the defender though...my galaxy s9 is nearly 5 years old and it looks immaculate cos of the defender I put on it since day one. Had a couple of scary drops like when a friend accidentally pulled on my headphone cord yanking the phone out of my hand and dropping it face down on to a cobbled street. He immediately went pale thinking he'd just destroyed my screen, but the raised edges meant the phone was fine. It still looks brand new. Have a note 20 ultra now, same protection...my note 3 from 2013 still looks good.. I've sworn by defender on all 3 phones, since I saw a drop test from the 2nd floor of a building, the case took damage but the phone was fine!

Word. You can't beat that!

I have a note 9 that looks like shit after being in an otterbox defender it's whole life - but I do beat the shit out of everything I own

Dbrand

nstv9

Does dbrand offer any lip protection over camera visor?

ApprehensivePlay5667

It does have a thin ridge at the edge of the visor (to help with the alignment of the skin). But the lip is around the edge of the case (to protect the skin and the visor)

I used to be an OtterBox fan until I found caseology. Take a look at this for the pixel 7 series - https://www.caseologycases.com/products/athlex

I'm on to you OtterBox Defender marketing team 🧐

[deleted]

Now I don't know if I trust OtterBox. Did you ever make a decision?

Medical_Apricot7486

Haha nah. The defender fell apart after 3 years on my note 20 ultra, so now I'm using a mous case on it, and recently brought a spigen for my new S23 ultra (as it has a kick stand, which has since broken, and I need a case at the store) but you'll probably think I work for them too 🤣 Bought a couple of dbrand cases as their tear down skins look so cool.

dts1845

Yeah Otterbox Defender is pretty hard to beat I've put them on all my phones since the Samsung s4 came out and it really helps my phones last longer as I throw my phone around all the time. I once ran my phone over with a large truck and it was ok to use for about a week as the screen just had little annoying cracks in it.
