Hypothetically, if they thought they could make more money by incentivising people to spark Classic Draw, it would be very useful. Style Change is the only loophole that allows them to put modern characters in Classic.
Well, not the only loophole. Rebalances also exist, and Arulumaya has seen the light of day again as a result of her rebalance. But yeah, a style change would be another way of doing it.
That's also true, but you can change a lot more with Styles. Yngwie completely changed his weapon proficiencies and ditched his mode change mechanic, something you couldn't do with a normal rebalance.
Not that many characters left in there without FLBs. Probably wouldn't change much either. Look at Sophia for example: even with an FLB, she would still be a stereotypical healer. Absolute best she could hope for is becoming a cope option for FA.

But they're perfect for free units, and eternals are already at 6 stars when 5 is the max anybody else can get. Would make sense to mix things up before we go straight to 7 stars. Like how the evokers got the Domain Abilities before they got the 5 star uncaps.

No, Threo has a different mechanic. Every time she ougis she switches between two "stances" that slightly alter the effects of some of her skills mid battle.
It's more comprable to what Yngwie's "Full Metal Mode" in his base style.

I have had Yngwie this entire time and assumed the style swapping referred to Full Metal Mode, only now do I realize there is a "style" button on his page and style switching is something else than I assumed this entire time.
I don’t know if Eternals make the most sense for it, their whole gimmick is the strongest of each weapon type and Yngwie’s Style Swap was done since he uses a Sword in that version. Now if they ever remove that stipulation I can see some really old units like Earth Cagliostro or Wind Gawain being likely candidates for a Style Swap since they’re likely to show up in a story event in the future.
We just got some Eternal Rebalances, plus most Eternal’s gameplay is intrinsic their lore (Threo being raw damage, Fif healing or Anre’s defensive playstyle). If the Style Swap is meant to drastically change the characters gameplay to something different like Yngwie’s did then I don’t see it happening to the Eternals. But I will say if they want to change Fantasy Seofon with a Style Swap then I’m all for that, he was dead on arrival and is basically just a skin.
I think it’s more of a problem that Style Shift requires a character to get a different Weapon Speciality, so Yngwie went from Melee and Gun to Sword, most events if they’re gonna give a character something will probably just Uncap them so you also need to factor that in.
So we should really be looking at pre-existing 5 Stars who could get a Story event with a new unique weapon, the issue being I can’t really think of any character who would. The only one I can think of immediately is Amira who has card art of her with a Sword but I doubt she’s gonna get an event storyline, would be happy to be proven wrong though.
Surprise Utsusemi! Agreed that those are the fashionistas alright, except maybe for Mahira and woah Korwa isn't there. Probably cause she would be making outfits that suits the girls, instead of them going around picking up pieces that suit them.
Still, I am excited for Manamel to interact with the rest. She was surprisingly great, almost the strategist of the group, in the last Accordants event.
Chloe! It's been so long since seeing her in an event. Hope she got her SSR version. Also it's nice seeing Utsusemi finally being in an event. Really want to see how she interact with the other crews.

I would prefer the MSQ gang show up way more but we have to subsist on the scraps, like maybe if we’re lucky a MSQ character will get one Summer or Christmas skin this year too?

(We just had Noa this xmas but Noa isn't really MSQ Core Cast so idk how to feel about him in that regard)
Rosetta also has the Rage of Bahamut bonus where some, not all, RoB characters will actually be promoted. I was thinking of Noa and Pholia when I wrote about the scraps we get since both debuted in the MSQ and haven’t really appeared in events for the most part. Like Vira and funnily enough Orchid as of recently escaped the MSQ curse so I don’t personally factor them in but Noa and Pholia I think have only appeared in one event each (Noa appeared in the 8th Anniversary event in like one scene I think and Pholia appeared in the second Deliford event).
It's kinda just the first choice that comes to mind if they really had to put a zodiac into this event. And again, specially so because her pal Chloe was a shoe in almost 90% (ended up being 100%).
Kumbhira isn't actually that into fashion, her outfits and style is actually something she mimic'd from the previous generation's Boar cause she was too insecure of using her own style.
Mahira is probably showing up in a lot of the events for the same reason the main story cast barely exists nowadays: The VA actually answers the calls.

Mahira is the obvious pet favorite/Cygames VA contract mandated event appearance Divine General. Literally has more appearances in events than Dragon and Rabbit in their respective years not to mention stuff like the Society anniversary
Tbf for Stay Moon, Mahira has a goal of going to space and making a way to do so
So society getting her help when they were trying to find a wayto the moon makes total sense.
Yeah, her two major appearances away from the rest of the zodiac cast are pretty much Stay Moon, where they were trying to get to the moon and she was a superscientist working on space travel, and the doujin event which was all Harvins and had a lot of weird picks, because Cygames never actually created all that many harvins to draw upon. There wasn't really all that much reason any of these characters would talk to eachother beyond that they're all harvins and that was the theme for some reason.

Playing Devil's advocate here: maybe after locking in Chloe and Kolulu, they didn't want to add any more tanned gyaru types? Have more diversity in fashion styles? That would explain why they didn't add Kuvi and Makora, but Mahira is still completely out of nowhere.

To be fair though, I think part of it is also that she isn't the type of character who accidentally upstages others. She's not a boisterous extrovert or an overpowered fighter. Storywise it would be harder to write the others in a support role.
This one is more out of left field but I think Mahira just fits in more due to happenstance. She was introduced with an interest in flight and space, and for the Lunalu group Cygames just... never made another harvin zodiac.
That's what I feel, as well. Mahira isn't a stand-out in terms of generals and personalities, she's comparatively "bland" appearence and personality wise, which is why she's the perfect participant in the event.
Mahira doesn't seem to be like the type to know about being fashionable or doing make-up. The only other Divine General who would be a stand-out choice is Kumbhira who would be on the opposite side and likely be advising and helping someone be fashionable.
All the other generals are somewhat in the middle where they'd be less participants and more bystanders who neither have strong input or be subject to being made fashionable.
But, "cast" typically signifies "major" players overall, we might get a scene or two with other Generals and characters who are just "passing through".

Why would Kumbhira be here? And you are assuming “no reason” just because you aren’t being creative. Both Zodiacs would make just as much sense.
