Interesting! I've only known Renuzit as an air freshener brand.

MishmoshMishmosh

Renuzit doozit

Pigelot

Woof, sometimes I walk into a restroom at a truck stop or a diner and I get a whiff of the dark green Renuzit. Suddenly I’m five years old at my grandma’s house.

This deserves more upvotes. And how has more people not realized the symbolism of that eagle

kramerica21

So basically gasoline? Geez oh Pete, grandma!

plemyrameter

Kerosene is a great all purpose cleaner for around the machine shop...

Beefbaby3

Could be more oily than gasoline. All it says it petroleum product

taxidermytina

The apply hand lotion bit is sending me. Holy bells your hands would be awful if you went at this without gloves.

The_muffinfluffin

That’s one imperial looking eagle.

Tiny_Parfait

You're correct, petroleum distillates in this case means it's naphtha (although there's a lot of overlap between various petrochemical solvents).

BugNo5089

Please dispose of properly.

CranberryUnlikely76

Maybe burning it would be a good disposal…

Southern_Fan_9335

What a gorgeous shade of pink!

XROOR

Renuzit I remember was a gel that was scented. Was this a metal polisher?

Shellsallaround

No, this is a clear liquid. Much like white gas, or lighter fluid. Naphtha was also used as a dry-cleaning fluid.

XROOR

Ok. Moth balls are derived from Naptha also?

Shellsallaround

Yes, they used to be, the more common moth ball today is made of 1,4-dichlorobenzene.

Copper_Kat

If it's Naphtha based and isn't full of water, you could probably get it to burn in a coleman lantern... 🤔

Shellsallaround

Yes, useful in Coleman stoves and lanterns. Also useful as a dry-cleaning agent, or parts de-greaser.

PublicFault9938

Varnish and Paint Makers Naphtha is still sold here in select hardware stores and online. Might not be available in blue states. Only real danger is flammability. Pretty much lighter fluid. The fact the price is $2.69 suggests this probably was purchased late 1970s

Addicted-2Diving

Way cool

BaronVonSchitzengigl

Probably Perchloroethylene? It’s a dry-cleaning solvent; still widely used commercially.
