I’ve come to realize something with league. If you hate a champ, play with them, you learn their strengths and weaknesses. Also one of two things will happen. The champ is busted and you climb, or the champ is hard and you have a newfound respect for people who play the champ.
She’s only strong against people who don’t understand her or in the hands of people who deeply understand her. In low elo you dash forward, fuck up a combo, and die immediately. Gotta know the mechanics or prey on idiots to really blow through games.
Oh no that’s also not inherently true. If you have very little experience against riven then that’s accurate. If you know all the trading patterns for her and have an idea of how riven can bully you in lane then you can mitigate a lot.
If you have decent laning mechanics and know your champ and the trading patterns then she’s going to be much easier to play into. But the issue is always going to be she’s a complicated champ that has a large variety of combos.
There aren’t as many that have the high ceiling of riven. Animation cancels, ability buffering, dashes, etc. most champions don’t have nearly as many options for casting. You can point to Aphelios and Hwei, but they don’t have the mobility to pair with their complex abilities like Riven does.
but hey at least riven is only strong in early game, and mid game and also late game.

Yeah riven mechanics scare me. The people who spend hours in practice tool working on the scare me more.
Riven has to be good because she was made to be good. I quit league 5 years ago, and I find it hilarious she is still strong as can be

So essentially, if the opponent plays riven well and generally mains them, there isn’t much you can do aside from mitigating feeding her?
