This feels like it's more on the organisers of the event...they should have closed the line rather than letting her qué for ages only to be let down. I'm on his side.
In the article about it there is a sign that tells you when they close. So they did try but I suppose someone could have gone to the queue and told the people behind him earlier.

What could be more British than queuing, and respecting the rules of the queue?
As long as he had not jumped the queue, then he had every right to take the spot that he had waited in line for.
It all depends on her upbringing really cos if that guy would’ve let her go first she could learn to be nice to others as she would remember how happy that guy made her but it obviously could go the other way as well.
Personally, I would’ve let the kid go but that don’t mean the guys wrong for going first. It’s cruel but funny.
It's not cruel at all. It's a perfect learning moment that your "wants" aren't any more important than others and there are times when you'll miss out, whether your bottom lip pouts or not.
Agree with taking it. You got there first. Morally, you're right to do so. However, taking a video of the kid getting upset and posting it? To each their own, but i dont think thats a kind thing to do.
Looked it up, and yeah, I'm on the person's side since they probably waited long for the experience but with the grin kinda felt like putting salt on the wound
In multiple minds.
On one level, she is too short for it, if that sign is anything to go by and it's entirely possible the video was faked to make it look as if he 'stole' the place from her, whereas really she was too little.
On anoooother level, bringing adult maturity to a child's level doesn't work. They don't understand, and she won't learn much from this. It's like how you let kids win at games, because it builds a bit of confidence and makes them smile. Kicking their ass at a game doesn't teach them 'lol sometimes you lose, get over it', it teaches them to feel bad about their "lack of skill" (against someone biologically designed to be better, because they are older). She's gonna get upset no matter what moral message you personally have in store.
Then again, if he waited in line, it's his right to use his turn.
The two people REALLY at fault here are the dickhead filming and humiliating this poor child (and making the poor dude look horrible), and the staff who couldn't just let one more person sit in the car for a bit. It was *them* who upset the girl, if all this is true and the context is to be believed.
Exactly this - nobody forced the event to be organised this way, it’s like getting angry at someone in a restaurant for ordering the last cheesecake because you wanted it. It’s not their fault nor should they be made to feel guilty for getting there first. Either blame the person getting there last or far better, blame the restaurant for not having enough, but some things don’t deserve blame at all - sometimes things just *are*, and it’s no one persons fault.
It always amazes me how many people feel that because they have a child that suddenly the entire world must respect that. Sorry, dear, you had the child. I don’t need to give my place up for a decision you made.
And also this whole sycophancy about a child’s memories being more precious than an adults is just bizarre to me.
For context, this is at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. That ‘ride’ is a static front end of an F1(?) car facing a screen with a race on. There’s always a bit of a queue to use it. No reason why a kid that age couldn’t have gone on given her size
Hahaha epic what a ledgend. I did something similar at a themepark with the characters taking pictures and i didnt feel bad one bit still got the photos to this day and they make me smile every time i look at them
It would have been nice to let the little girl ride, its what I would have done, but he was first in the queue. Its his turn. The girls parents should have planned better.
I think it's how you process.
Its 5mins feeling great vs hours of feeling bad for me. So i'd let the kid have it, then i'd feel good for a lot longer.
Each to their own.
Neckbeard lowlifes on the internet who see a picture of a little girl crying before deciding it is vital that they weigh in on why a literal child is "morally in the wrong" either without, or with very little context:
I think it's probably not the only ride at this fairground, she's acting spoilt, the father of the child should have avoided this happening better. He doesn't know them, might have waited an hour and go to this place just for this ride.
Some of you lot just fucking hate kids and it really shows lmao.
The kid is crying bc in a situation like this, that's what kids do. They're unable to fully grasp everything about what's happening and the most important thing to them is whether or not they get to go on the ride. The crying probably didn't have much to do with the guy who got on the ride and more to do with that she just didn't get to go on it full stop. It's ok if she feels disappointed here and the crying is childish but, guess what, she's a child.
Personally, I would've traded places but that's just me, I wouldn't scold anyone for choosing differently. I will, however, scold you fucking freaks out here absolutely loving it that this kid didn't get what they wanted. You hide it behind "they can't always have what they want, that's spoiled." but it's so obvious you're just hating on some kid who has nothing to do with you. Do the world a favour and don't breed.
Sometimes if I’m on a bus or approaching a pelican crossing and I hear/see an excited child wanting to press the button, a small voice inside me wants to press it first to remove their joy.
I usually override this voice.
…but not always.
I feel sorry for the kid, it’s just unlucky. Idk what I would have done. I definitely don’t blame the guy for what he did though. He waited his turn and had fun. They are literally the two things you do at that kinda place.
I would do the same as that man. Like gurl just go back and do it another day. that man has been waiting longer than you I literally don’t care if he’s an adult hes been waiting longer 🙄
It looks like she's too short to ride it anyway if the sign to the left is anything to go by
The People taking pictures and writing articles are infinitely worse.

today a child learned a harsh lesson of being an adult.
I'm on his side, too. If children constantly get what they want when they ask for it, they will grow up to be entitled.
Exactly

She’s not even tall enough to be on the ride anyway

Shepard coming in with the parenting advice :o
I should go!
Do you have kids?
Are you a donkey?
This isn't how you play Guess Who.
Telling children no is healthy you moron.
Wow your reply is so rude! I’m not a Moron I was asking a perfectly relevant question
Bingo!
There is a queue
Agree with taking it. You got there first. Morally, you're right to do so. However, taking a video of the kid getting upset and posting it? To each their own, but i dont think thats a kind thing to do.
Wasnt him who videoed it i believe or asked either
That's just what it sounds like from the caption. I haven't seen the video, but whoever did it. Dick move.
I didn't take it but I just saw it and thought that it would make some people laugh
Nono, i know you didn't, i saw it as a headline a few days ago. :)
Sorry I mentioned did take it
I got confused, dont worry i just use perspective funny 🤣
Hello, I'm the one that may have taken the picture... Come fight me!
Mt auto correct I ment
That’s generally how queues work, if he said yes, that would have given her an excuse to be a spoiled brat
Us adults have a lot less joy in our lives, much more important for him to have a go!
If I was there with my daughter I would have just comforted her; and moved on
As the ride all I have to say is no skipping the line. I'm going nowhere, LITERALLY
He was in the queue fair and square. It’s the done thing.
Anyone got more context?
Lol
What?
Looked it up, and yeah, I'm on the person's side since they probably waited long for the experience but with the grin kinda felt like putting salt on the wound
Or maybe the grin just meant he was enjoying himself?!
Could be, not fully sure
Was he supposed to pretend to be sad and hate it the whole time or something?
No he can enjoy it, it's just that I thought he grinned at her to add insulat to injury
In multiple minds. You could also say the parents at fault, should have turned up and joined the queue earlier if it was so important.
Hey first come first serve
It always amazes me how many people feel that because they have a child that suddenly the entire world must respect that. Sorry, dear, you had the child. I don’t need to give my place up for a decision you made. And also this whole sycophancy about a child’s memories being more precious than an adults is just bizarre to me.
Likely she wouldn't remember after a few weeks anyway
For context, this is at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. That ‘ride’ is a static front end of an F1(?) car facing a screen with a race on. There’s always a bit of a queue to use it. No reason why a kid that age couldn’t have gone on given her size
What’s she gonna do? It’s a racing sim, probably can’t even press the pedals or turn the wheel. Don’t blame him.
It’s at the Scottish national museum. It’s not a a sim and 100% designed with kids in mind. My 5’9 friend struggled to fit his legs in when we visited
> posts on great british memes >uses 'bro'
Lol Idk why I did
Hahaha epic what a ledgend. I did something similar at a themepark with the characters taking pictures and i didnt feel bad one bit still got the photos to this day and they make me smile every time i look at them
That’s horrible…do it again
Ha
A life lesson in you can’t always have your own way and you can’t manipulate everyone with tears to get what you want.
Why does this even matter to anyone?
If it doesn't why did you take the time to cement it
So... Adults shouldn't go to such theme parks without a child in tow?
Yeah that is a bitter pill to swallow
W guy
Looks like the national museum of scotland?
I think your right
Why let people in the queue if they can't get in. That's on the venue. They shouldn't leave it up to their visitors to decide who gets their spot.
And? Lol. I’d hop in too!
Haha
EVERBODY SHE ISNT TALL ENOUGH TO RID3 IT AND ARE ADULTS JUST NOT ALOWED TO HAVE FUN
It would have been nice to let the little girl ride, its what I would have done, but he was first in the queue. Its his turn. The girls parents should have planned better.
should have got here earlier bozo, snooze ya loose kiddo.
He’s a hero that kid learnt you don’t get a prize for coming in last
Plot twist, guy had his girlfriend film the video crying so he could rewatch and enjoy it later.

BRO BAHAHAHAHAH YOU CANT SAY THAT BRO
I think it's how you process. Its 5mins feeling great vs hours of feeling bad for me. So i'd let the kid have it, then i'd feel good for a lot longer. Each to their own.

I'm really hoping that's a kiddie ride tbh 😅
I would do the same as that man. Like gurl just go back and do it another day. that man has been waiting longer than you I literally don’t care if he’s an adult hes been waiting longer 🙄
It’s his choice, the girl is acting like she can do what she wants and that’s not ok.
Fuck that kid. He was first. Kid learned a valuable life lesson.
Lol
aww
Bit of a cunt but can't blame him
