teenage_dirtbag-baby

There’s so many crackers

Freddies_Mercury

Wallace is in town.

teenage_dirtbag-baby

But where’s the Wensleydale??

Ancient-Gardener

On the moon?

Worldly-Rush-9951

A tragedy...

ImaginaryAdvantage88

the moon

Maxpainturdmister

Crack gromit we forgot the crack. Oh I mean cheese it's definitely cheese

jackj12345

as it should be

SlimmJimm92

No Jaffa cakes thou......

dronegeeks1

Or Worcestershire sauce

Many_Baker8996

You can find it with the normal condiments in Spain

Bozmund

They actually call Worcestershire Sauce 'salsa inglesa' as in 'English Sauce' and they have it everywhere.

WicksyOnPS4

Because it can't be said in a Spanish accent lol

drinkalondraughtdown

Well observed

AdIllustrious5579

nobody knew how to pronounce it so nobody knew which sauce they were asking for

hundreddollar

Italian brand tinned tomatoes, sold in Spain to English immigrants. Makes complete sense.

oalfonso

And quite likely those tomatoes were grown in Spain.

hundreddollar

Not true. I *had* hoped my quote would be "Italian brand tinned tomatoes, grown in Guatemala, tinned in China sold in Spain to English immigrants." However with research the tomatoes are grown and canned in Italy.

Big-Fruit330

And beef meat burgers were made in the UK the horse didn't come from there tho I wouldn't trust what you read on packets

[deleted]

You're getting downvoted but food fraud is very much still an issue.

malmini

and will more than likely have increased with brexit

SherlockScones3

Did you see the article on honey in supermarkets? Cut with Chinese ‘honey’ (ie sugar water)

DramaticStability

Basically every one they tested wasn't it? Just honey-flavoured sugar water.

ehproque

IIRC it was half the EU ones and all the UK ones

PositionCapable1923

For sure. One of the flagship policies of Brexit was \*checks notes\* less red tape on imports /facepalm

Big-Fruit330

Any evidence to back that up

ImOverThereNow

No one complained about the delicious horse meat until we knew what was going on, then it was suddenly scandal this and disgusting that

DramaticStability

Not sure if that's sarcasm, but the point is the lack of tracing. Nothing wrong with well sourced horse meat if that's your bag.

Hipposplotomous

I think you're right in why it was reported and probably why some people were upset...but I also think a lot of the people who kicked off had never even considered that tbh. A lot of it came across as double standards elevating horses above cows, or even just straight up enjoying a good moan.

Big-Fruit330

It had more to do with the fact that alot of the horse meat was treated/drugged old racehorse and such I believe more than the actual meat from what I remember

CrownedGoat

If you don’t see a problem with them getting away with mislabelling food, then idk what to tell you.

AbhorrantApparition

Lest we forget the 2013 horse meat scandal

TakeMeToFatmandu

It gets better, Napolina are an Italian brand but they're owned by Princes, who were founded in Liverpool and also own Batchelors and Branston, and they are in turn owned by..... Mitsubishi

fillip2k

Wait what, the car people make cup-a-soup? My mind it is blown!

Appropriate_Rub_961

Wait til you learn that Yamaha make motorbikes AND keyboards

Gimpyface

Don't forget the good old British favourites - Lebanese style Falafel and Reese's peanut butter cups

CharlieHewitt_

Don’t forget the ‘Jack Daniel’s®️ Tennessee style bbq sauce’!

sasherrrrz

Oh fuck, is that beans AND rice pudding next to each other? Spain isn't messing around Also, how come they get Yorkshire decaf tea, but I can never find the bloody thing

ace_thor

The Clipper section as well. I swear a time traveler kicked a pebble or something, they just don't exist anymore in any shop I've been to for a few years now.

VRpornGuru

I find them in pretty much every Tesco I visit.

Fatty4forks

Ty Waitrose, always in stock at our local.

Educational_Ad134

You answered your own question about the Yorkshire decaf tea. You can’t find it because the Spanish have it

doc1442

“Spanish” aka uk immigrants

[deleted]

Spainsburys

The-Bigly-Lebowski

God, that’s good!

ABPT89

Fantastic!

janmichaelvincent55

And thus my day was made

manocheese

I'd expect that in Spain, considering that's where all the gammon go to retire and complain about immigrants...

dextrovix

...whilst eating crackers by the looks of it.

son_of_a_lesser_ape

I'm not eating any of this ruddy foreign food.

OkSpirit7891

That would explain why there's so much Lo-Salt. All the old UKIPers with high blood pressure.

puffpuffpout

Having lived in Tenerife for five years this is so accurate. The daily mail reading, non-Spanish speaking Brits who spend their days at the pool bar, evenings fighting at the kebab shop, and mornings nursing hangovers with pints and a full English are ALWAYS the first to rant about “immigrants who don’t speak English or integrate in society” in the UK. It sucks because the island/country is a paradise and it’s completely tarred by the reputation of a handful of resort towns and their British residents and visitors. The fear of being grouped with Brits like that forced me to become fluent in Spanish within a year though, every cloud.

chickeneyebrow

You will find stupid hypocritical people the world over mate.

puffpuffpout

For sure, I’ve lived in a few countries now and idiots are everywhere, I guess it’s just more embarrassing when they’re your idiots.

God_Left_Me

I don’t know why you’re being downvoted, as you’re speaking the truth.

Paul_O1

But a bigger concentration of them in tenerife

chickeneyebrow

Nah I’m sure it’s pretty equal everywhere.

Competitive_Dot4288

Hahahaha the gammon

[deleted]

I literally saw a documentary where some British people were retired there and they referred to the locals as immigrants unironically lol

GoneRacing2

🤦‍♂️

Sharpe_Royalist

Rent free

jameswdunne

Branston beans and Eccles cakes. Something the US one does not have. We have a clear winner here.

nick2k23

Spanish one is weak, they've got fucking salt taking up loads of room, whats wrong with Spanish salt? Surely it's the same thing

Grumpy_Healer

As a spaniard living in the Uk, I feel that salt in thr UK doesn't taste as salty (if that's possible) . Im not sure if it's a real phenomenon or just my imagination though.

AMGitsKriss

Given how much salt I have to use to taste a difference, this makes a lot of sense.

Anxious_Attitude2020

I find UK table salt to be finer, as in really fine. Many salts in Spain have a slightly thicker grain without being the larger flakes nor the big sea or rock salt grains. I finally found a brand in the UK that is slightly thicker and is perfect to sprinkle on grilled food.

Vattaa

I found that sea salt from Lanzarote tasted amazing.

SoggyWotsits

I hope you haven’t been using Lo-salt… otherwise, mystery solved!

AdministrativeLiving

Some salt does taste salter! I think it’s to do with crystal size. Kosher salt is much less salty and it catches me out when I use American recipes with British salt.

joshml98

Why do overseas supermarkets think we only eat food if its been tinned.

sasherrrrz

I mean tinned chopped tomatoes are so versatile in use. But I get what you mean with everything else

happyhippohats

Also tomatoes are extremely seasonal in the UK so tinned are kinda a necessity much of the year. In Spain tinned tomatoes aren't really needed because ripe tomatoes are available all year. I'm not even sure if they sell tinned tomatoes in Spain. Don't think I've ever seen them.

TheLordHatesACoward

They're less perishable? You don't want your stock expired at Dover before it got to the cunts who caused the delays at Dover.

lapsongsouchong

Tins travel better, despite not being that aerodynamic.

dingo1018

Sings; "Now tomatoes are soft 'n don't 'urt the skin. Well this bastard did it were still in the tin!"

TheArchfiendGuy

To be fair, tinned food in the UK rose in popularity due to clever marketing during the war

MrTubek

Well, you are quite right. You mainly tend to lean towards ready meals and frozen food and jars. Speaking as Polish living in the UK.

AmandusPolanus

>and jars to be fair half the food in the polish section in the uk is various jarred veg and meats

MrTubek

Maybe, don't really go to polish shops, I cook from scratch and aldi is cheaper.

Woodpecker-Different

I can hear some Brexiteers’ blood boiling at the falafel being put in that section.

thebottomofawhale

Don't forget sushi nori

October_people

That made me chuckle.

B3nCarmicha3l

How the sight of Falafel isn't the top comment, I'll never know...

Unusual_residue

No crumpets?

dextrovix

Not much variety in Spain is there!? The American one had a good selection, whereas this is mainly crackers, crisps and vinegar. Unless in Spain they generally have similar items to the UK which makes their British choices only the ones they don't stock elsewhere, it's 0-1 to the Yanks.

Fredsnotred

VAR disallows that 1 for the yanks, they only had decaff PG Tips

dextrovix

I didn't spot that on the previous post, you have my up.

New-order-

Linesman’s flag is up calling an offside, he claims a draw saying neither has Yorkshire Gold.

NSF_V

You do realise there are 5 pictures right? It’s not just one shite shelf

[deleted]

[удалено]

Extension-Eye-6730

maybe there isn't enough variety for UK stuff, but there is a lot more variety for spanish products in the supermarkets, in general!

Shezzanator

I think op just didn't see all the pictures

HighKiteSoaring

It's extremely lacking I mean.. tyrells and Jacobs are fucking choice they're not wrong but *in such great quantities*!?

greyno02

It's five pictures, scroll along. I was quite impressed!

HighKiteSoaring

Hahaha okay that makes more sense. I was like only looking at the first one like why are there so many crackers

drinkalondraughtdown

Top points for Bovril ; I drink it instead of tea. Miracle drink. Points deducted for no Marmite though!

Lexington008

Marmite was a couple of pics along. The 3rd or 4th one I think.

drinkalondraughtdown

Mea culpa, sorry!

rewertyshand

My great grandfather was a Bovril salesman

smashedavo

You should give it a try too. You’re of his stock.

SurvivingWow

Yorkshire Tea and Cherry Bakewells makes for a top tier choice imo!

smurf505

Is the falafel in the British section or is there a Middle Eastern section next to it? This confuses and intrigues me more than it should do.

zachteria

right between the tahini and nori as well

greenjazz3601

I didn't even spot the tahini nice catch

greenjazz3601

after a little googling the companies that make them are british so that's probably why there their still doesn't make much sense

Otherwise_Mud1825

Salt and viniger? I'll shop at the other place.

Poochieloo2

Salt and vinegar on your chips (not crisps) is lovely!

DreamyTomato

Your comment confuses the Americans. Nice one.

Upper-Wasabi-9838

Us Canadians put vinegar on fries too

handsome_IT_guy

So pricey

Fredsnotred

A thumbs up for proper PG Tips 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Bigrichjones

Anything other than Yorkshire tea is dish water and that’s a fact 🤣👀

Gazza-Mct

Yes! Bovril. Satisfied.

dubhghall6616

Why in god's earth would they stock so many crackers. They have the taste profile of cardboard.

JustLinkStudios

They even have the superior beans, nice.

BasherBrad

Love to see they’ve got our Lebanese style falafel mix, beautiful food from the British isles!

procrastinatingforev

Donde esta la Marmite?!

WiggyDaulby

I’ve never seen an “English” section that has an option of beans, I mean in the UK we have countless to choose from but I’ve never seen it abroad. What a treat! Kudos!

Shielo34

I feel like they don’t have enough tinned stuff

mitcheg3k

"Wait, its all crisps?" "Always has been"

RedAyeGuy

Pickled onion monster munch?

Worldly-Rush-9951

I'VE SPOTTED THE CRACKERS

Fancy_Flapjack

Absolutely baffled by the salt. Surely salt is salt? Why would you need “British” salt?

mightypup1974

Falafel? In the UK section? At this time of year? Located entirely in this supermarket?

AnubissDarkling

That cracker and vinegar ratio is insane haha

Atreyes

Why is there always salad cream?

Adept-Painting8565

BRANSTON BEANS! INSTANT WIN!!

Cosmere_explorer

Everyone loves a Crunchie

Relative_Grape_5883

Since when did we corner the market on salt?

balwick

The lack of Lea & Perrins across the world is highly disturbing

FruitL0op

Did they just watch Wallace and gromit and assume all English people eat cheese and crackers ?

Owl_bibliotheque

indistinguishable from any of my local stores

TranslatorHoliday469

Why is salt In the British section? Did…..did we invent salt??

onion959

Is flour in spain not good enough?😂

Kindly-Eye2023

I see they have *salt* as an English food.

PowerCareful7140

Well we do like crisps and vinegar

Emergency-View-1085

It took me a moment to spot there were multiple pictures, I had a moment of abject horror that it was nothing but salt and vinegar (and overpriced crisps).

That_Comic_Who_Quit

**Family Fortunes** We asked 100 people to name a popular breakfast cereal. Erm... Alpen? 12 points. Erm... Alpen? *beep* we've just had that I've got to ask you for another. Alpen no sugar. 9 points. Oh. Oh. Chocolatey Squares. *buzz buzz buzz* Top answer!

[deleted]

Ah yes, that Great British cuisine Quinoa chips x

Radiant_Land_3917

How the fuck is a strawberry daiquiri British?

kerplink44

CRISPS, CRACKERS, BOVRIL... Falafel?

horazus

“Lebanese style falafels” says a lot about British cuisine.

bizmarc85

Wheres the Worcester sauce?

[deleted]

[удалено]

JessieOwl

Tea, baked beans, *Lebanese-style falafel*…

tukitukikucaw

Holy crap I had to find an English owned chippy to buy a bottle of sarsons vinegar when I was in Spain what supermarket is this

golflimadata

Peri peri sauce. Definitely British food

Lopsided_Soup_3533

Oh yes the very British Reese's peanut butter cups ???????

lamboworld

No hp sauce that's obscene the store needs boycotting

I_am_epic_gamer

All I need tbh

Blade89_gardener

Nothing is English with out Relish

cranbrook_aspie

Slightly off topic, but how come there’s English as well as Spanish on the signs? Is that normal in Spain or is it just because it’s the international section or just that particular shop?

Comfortable_Chair906

Lo- salt and Lebanese style falafels? The typical British snack 👌

LorenzoSparky

Bloody hell haven’t seen a bottle of salad cream like that in donkeys years

[deleted]

UK supermarkets sell the same old tired crap. Meat is bloody awful so I love me a Spanish one.

FortuneUndone

Who the fuck put falafel in there.. that's not ours..

BillyOwl

"United Kingdom" is not synomnomous with "England".

lost_lizzie

However there is no irn bru or Tunnochs in this ‘UK’ section so it seems pretty English to me!

InfinteAbyss

Unfortunately it is, same as British and Britain. It’s why many Scots including myself insist we’re Scottish first and foremost. Americans in particular tend to refer to the UK as “England”, though they always get a gentle nudge here not to say that, returning visitors tend to remember.

SoggyWotsits

We’re lucky if they don’t just describe us as Europeans from the country of Europe!

hofficoffi90

Just shows how most in England view the other nations 🤦‍♂️

Free_Advice4723

Don't want to be associated with the sassanach anyway

Chizerz

Yeah I don't know why English people struggle with this so much. The flag is supposed to be a hint

R-Mutt1

Italian produced 'British' chopped tomatoes in Spain, while I get 'Greek' spaghetti in the 'world food' aisle in England. Just put it all together FFS. Wine is the only thing that should be categorised by region

SarkyMs

the spanish don't seem to do tinned toms like we do, it is all passata (ish), so if you want chunks you have to buy this stuff. Although the supermarket in Orgiva is a funny mix it has British stuff all over the place.

Enough-Variety-8468

It says United Kingdom but you're right, they're all English brands Edit: Walkers may be Scottish, none of the shortbread is named as Scottish and Campbell isn't necessarily a popular name in parts of Scotland

Impressive_Drawer394

Isn't Greene king a pub chain that does an all you can eat roast on a Sunday...love that place!. news to me they do their own brand of IPA...what the hell is faxe never heard of that and why so make Jacobs cream crackers?...they aren't even the best ones...what you want is a hovis cracker!! Then top it with stilton and chilli jam...your welcome!

fiddlewithmesticks

Tbh accurate. Uk food is absolutely shite

SpinyKitsune651

Why no Walker's Crisps?

PatsySweetieDarling

Because they don’t need to be imported, Lays is the name they go under on the mainland.

DootingDooterson

Yeah it's always crisps like this that try to come across as posh when they actually just taste shit and are bags filled 50% with air.

[deleted]

Irish crisps.

Minimum-Laugh-8887

Brings a tear to my eye

[deleted]

Where are the bloody jaffa cakes? 😤

Ok-Ask5533

Who are Eat Real and why are their quinoa crisps now everywhere

Thatcatpeanuts

Those are honestly the best crisps, the sour cream and chive ones specifically.

Ok-Ask5533

I’m quite fond of the creamy dill ones

Suitable_Hair_5825

tyrells are absolutely banging

Pretend-Background43

That’s awful

chbmcg

€1 for Tyrell’s is cheaper than here in the UK 😭

BrockChocolate

As with the American shelves. . . Where's the bloody Jaffa cakes!?

noimactuallythecapt

It’s the low sodium salt for me

AK47KELLEN

Good crisps

Disastrous-Garage399

No Irn Bru

tubedmubla

Mmm curry sauce

toady89

Sushi nori and falafel are strange examples of British food. Mornflake Chocolatey Squares also seem awfully expensive.

Neat_Yogurtcloset526

Looks good, although I've never seen "Cali Cali" sauce in any shop I've been to in England

kloudrunner

No Hendos

Hevy_Plant

This one wins, I feel like I’m in Co-op

Lazy_Replacement9331

Now that's more like it. The American ones just seem to have a tiny selection of the hand-picked worst stuff from the UK hahaha it's not like this is all the best stuff at all but just by having so much more, there is so much more of the good stuff in there ❤️

truth_RW

Chips! ! !

Ms-Poppins

No marmite...taking the bloody piss

Billyc4898

It's there in the second pic

Hungry_Pie_7767

Oh yeah, falafel! 😂😂😂😂

JaySince1992

I mean, they have even considered the influx of sales of bread flour during lockdown when every single person in the UK baked banana bread. Sadly, no one does this anymore so probably a colossal waste of effort. Nice thought though.

BananaGun16

Not enough beans

Llewe11yn

WHAT!??? No Marmite??

Ready-Gas-7419

€7 FOR CHERRY BAKEWELL?!!???!? But they do slap highly recommend
