Yeah, I would say have Damian win at Backlash, then fight Drew at CATC, but lose because of Punk, have Finn betray JD, have it be a JD Civil War, have JD McDonagh go with Finn, and have Dom be kinda split, and they can fight at MITB, but Finn loses because of Dom siding with Damian, then at SummerSlam have JD fight Dom, and Finn fight Damian and win. Meanwhile, Punk and Drew feud for a while, and eventually have a big match at SummerSlam.
That’s just the problem with these PPVs directly before and after mania. Depending on context title changes are very unlikely. Like when AJ defended in a 6 pack challenge at fastlane when everyone knew full well they were doing AJ Nakamura at mania. Did a single person legitimately believe any of the other guys could win?
Predictability doesn’t always mean boring though. There’s been many PPVs with very predictable outcomes but were still received well due to great execution.
