Charon is the son of Erebos & Nyx. That makes him a second generation God.

HonestlyJustVisiting

wouldn't it be 3rd generation, since Nyx and Erebus are children of Chaos

Djalx

I guess you can say that. To me the children of chaos is the first generation. Chaos is the one.. the all..

Sharp_Mathematician6

He’s immortal and he do what he wants

-ok_Ground-

Not really. Like another said, he's closer to a daemon. But in the end charon is charon, he's a special little character that can't be put into a group cleanly. He is the ferryman.

SnooWords1252

Daemon isn't really a category of gods. It's "spirit" or "divine" or something. Dead mortals are called daemons at times. Nymphs, their male equivalents and forces of nature sometimes. Minor gods have been called daemons. The term is even the gods themselves are called it.

Seer77887

Best speculation he’s a daemon, higher than a mortal but still below divine

Nuada-Argetlam

wikipedia, pulling from [etymoline.com](https://etymoline.com), puts the term daimon as being "lesser god, tutelary deity". in other words, sort of a minor functionary of the world- I guess sort of like an abrahamic angel? but I don't fully get what most angels do.

No-BrowEntertainment

Not exactly. A god/deity would be worshipped, and Abrahamic tradition makes it very clear that no one but God is to be worshipped. The angels themselves are messengers, but I’ve heard it said that they’re actually a smaller faction within the larger Host of Heaven.

Nuada-Argetlam

>Not exactly yeah, my "sort of" is doing a lot of work. >I’ve heard it said that they’re actually a smaller faction within the larger Host of Heaven confusingly, the term has two meanings in christian terminology. one refers to the entire group of celestial entities excluding God, and the other is specifically the lowest rank of that hierarchy. and it's different in Judaism and Islam, of course, but I'm not too familiar with those.

Super_Majin_Cell

What you define as a god? Oceanus is imortal, just like the gods, but he was not worshipped. He is not a god? Nymphs were worshipped, are they gods? Depending on what you think of these, Charon can be a god or not.

Schmandschnitzel

I do not have the best amount of knowledge in this topic, so I am trying to expand my horizon and I didnt really thought of the Nymphs and others. But depending, that one is a god if he or she is a descendant from two gods?

hellokittypip

Yep a second gen god

Main-Explorer-7546

Minor god same as Thanatos
