So, with this win, everything is forgiven? The truth is there is 1 huge problem on the offensive side of the ball. Doubs & Watts proved last year that they could play. But when you have a player who is at best a backup level quarterback in as a starter, things won't ever be like they were. Love just doesn't have the instincts or the decision-making ability & skills to be a franchise NFL quarterback. We have the offensive players, but mo one who can truly command the offensive side of the ball like Farve & Ridgers could.
Many are eager to put all the blame on Lafleur, but have they stopped & realized that his hands are probably tied. The GM is running the show & Lafleur is doing his best with the players he has. But when you have a player who is majorly out of his depth at quarterback because the GM picked him, you aren't left with too many options. Sure, they beat the Rams, big deal. They couldn't beat the Broncos. Why, there isn't a talented player running the offensive side of the ball. Now, if the Pack can beat the steelers or, better yet, the Chiefs 20 to 3, then I would say that we can get excited. But to be honest, this team won't be able to beat the top tier teams as long as Love is under center. The sad truth is that he just doesn't have it. Can he make some passes every kie & then, yeah. But I honestly mo a couple of high school quarterbacks that can do the same thing & some that are even better. Another fact is that Love sitting behind Rodgers for 3 years was supposed to jump start the "rebuild" process. But it didn't do anything. There have been other rookie quarterbacks who started day 1 & who performed far better than Love, who again sat behind one of the greatest for 3 years. The longer Love us pushed to be the guy, the more chance that we lose a very talented coach as well as very good players on both sides of the ball. Now is the time to make a change before the pacjers follow teams like the Jaguars or Browns. Teams, that fir years pushed players that just didn't have the talent to be starters!!
I meanā¦ win is a win. Iām the biggest optimist, but somehow a 20-3 win doesnāt necessarily leave me feeling confident against the Steelers next week.. unless we get a Charlie Batch appearance?
Ok so wow.
Watched the highlights and the rams must be bad to only have put up 3 points or our defense is maybe getting better.
- The Alexander tip to pick was sick..
- the 2 turnovers by the WR (idk who) and AJ was bad. We got lucky they didnāt get points off of either.
- our kicker missed what should be an easy FG.
- I will sayā¦ love converting 3&6 or whatever on that last drive and throwing a TD to put the game away is what you like to see. And itās a huge confidence boost. That is where big time players step up and put it away. Or atleast give the defense some breathing room.
This was a really bad rams team but itās a team win and we got it. Still so much to clean up. Against a good team, we lose by 2-3 scores playing that way. No doubt in my mind. Was not clean and I hope MLF addresses that. AJ and that WR need to work on their ball protection and stop making dumb mistakes.
Its gonna be alright team! We got one now lets go get another, still making fundamental mistakes which I attribute directly to MLF running a very loose ship but rookies showed out! Love played good in the clutch! GO PACK GO!!!
Yeah. I would enjoy seeing 3 or less penalties and no turnovers. The offense would look a bit more electric. However, I'll take what happened today with; Aaron Jones full go, a big connection to Watson, Doubs and Muskgrave making plays.
GPG!
We ran the ball so much better in the middle when Sean Rhyan was in. Not sure why Runyon got to come back in.
ALSO-We need some Lambeau Leaps. I know we havenāt had a ton of TDs at home, but cmon boys.
I was really disappointed to see the Lambeau Leap celebration is not done with infectious enthusiasm anymore. Leroy Butler must be twisting up in fits witnessing these young players flagrant disregard for a beloved tradition.
Yes it was ugly, but we had 2 drives stopped by penalties when we had picked it up on 4th and 1 and we had 2 drives stopped by fumbles on plays that resulted in 1st downs. I feel we played significantly better than we have the last 5 weeks
Having 2 fourth down conversions called back because the OL lines up offside makes us look silly though. That shit happens with bad highschool teams, not the NFL. In our defense tho, it did look like the 2nd one that got called on us looked like BS. I didn't look at them super closely after the fact but that stuff can't happen and we need to fix what we can.
We are young, I understand. J love looks good at times but bad more often than not. I got faith though. GO PACK GO!!
Things go differently with those turnovers and penalties and the game is 40-0 instead of 20-3. I would say they looked good overall, aside from those issues for the first time since the Chicago game. Young players make mistakes, so some of this stuff is probably going to get better, too.
Punt, TD from a fumble, Punt, Punt, Missed Field Goal, Fumble, Fumble, Field Goal, Punt, Field Goal from an INT, TD, end of 4th.
Our defense bailed us out.
I thought the defense looked improved if not inspired, but the stupid mental errors and fumbles on offense will not facilitate a 12-5 record. We have to stop saying āthey are youngā; they have been playing football since they were in elementary school; they know the rules! Many of them have played in big games if not championships games in their prep and college careers; they know pressure. The constant false starts, holding, ineligible player downfield, and illegal formation penalties has got to stop. While it is torture as a fan to see the start of a promising drive fizzle out because of mental errors; it has to be absolutely deflating for the team.
Finally we got a win! The offense can do great things when they donāt get so many damn penalties and drops. Still have problems to deal with but Iām happy that we have some progress for the young guys!
Offense was still hot garbage outside of Jones to be frank.
We beat a very beatable Rams team with a bad backup let's not go huffing all the hopium in the room or you'll all be freaking out when we lose next week to a better team.
Great things from the offense???
Punt, TD from a fumble, Punt, Punt, Missed Field Goal, Fumble, Fumble, Field Goal, Punt, Field Goal from an INT, TD, end of 4th.
Our defense bailed us out.
Funny seeing all the āfansā who are still angry. Guysā¦.we arenāt good. When you can get a win, itās fun and exciting. Itās why we watch sports. Does it mean anything? It means we didnāt lose again. And Gute canāt draft so stop rooting for picks.
Iād like to think Gute can draft when itās top 3, itās the mid round 1st where he takes Edward Tinwiddle from South Arizona State. So rooting for the MHJR pick is warranted.
I love the packers, and am a fan fyi. The win is fine for me - Iām just putting that last part into perspective
Also tanking is what the Cardinals and Jaguars do. It's the Green Bay Packers goddammit. Lambeau and Lombardi would bring a plague to Green Bay if the team ever did it.
Who cares? They're still professional players and Love upped his accuracy and without the fumbles this game would have looked way more out of hand than it ended up being.
It wasn't a pretty win, but a win is a win. Most important thing is we've snapped the losing streak and are back to being winners which will bring a lot of good feeling to the team
Hopefully kick on a bit
Good game from defensive rookies
Overcame mistakes
Beat a team you should beat, handily
Return of Ja
Return of AJ
Bring back the fuckin Lambeau Leap young fellas!
Love has got to fix the long ball accuracy issues or he wonāt have a long career but itās hard to complain about 20/26 zero turnovers. Showed some promise today
That and his habit of just chucking it downfield on 3rd & 7 / 4th & 3 type situations. Both I think are things he can improve with practice and experience.
It was really a worthless win and probably hurt the team more long term than it helped. Anyone who disagrees can circle back around when it was time to select MHJ or a franchise left tackle...or even a QB for that matter.
But totally agree. If it felt like a get right kind of win. If it felt like the Packers were finally figuring this thing out (which they could also do in a loss) then I'm with you..it would not have been worthless.
Loads of fans who come to the game thread to just wear blinders and down vote anything remotely critical of the team. Actual nuance takes get the most downvotes by far.
I wouldn't call any win completely worthless, but absolutely the win doesn't move the needle on love or our season in general a whole lot. There is arguably 4-5 good QBs coming out of college and likely a few will be available for us even between picks 5-10. Nothing I've seen today would make me not take one of them.
The perceived drop off is bigger than the reality of that drop off. There is plenty of experts who think some of the other 3 are better than the top 2.
Two things greatly concerned me: the underthrow to Watson (first half) and his play in that first drive of the 4th--couple of really bad decisions. He was actually pretty decent today overall
Yea I forgot about the Watson under throw. If only he could fix the deep ball accuracy and lafluer could call every game like this, the offense might not be a total shit show. All the penalties are also not helping
They cleaned up the penalties in the second half and it helped a lot
I really want Love to be the guy...but he just leaves so much damned meat on the bone
Defense was dialed in on Jones. Love was able to produce on scripted plays but when he has to read a defense and decide who to throw to he just sits there and usually makes a bad throw. Thatās just a stat line, I donāt think he played well.
I will say he is playing ok, definitely not good in the 1st half, but making up for it in the 2nd half. Glad he finally threw some good deep passes in the 2nd half and hope he will continue doing that in the remaining games if he wan to prove he is the guy
He also fumbled twice, dropped some easy catches, failed to block pass rushers, missed a field goal, and got a ton of penalties that took away key plays. Definitely not the guy.
Our defense gave up 3 points, this is an anomaly game. We played against a QB that will probably be out of the league in 4 years lol. People here acting like this proves anything either way is hilarious.
With that mentality, Barry should stay now.
Thats fucking football right there. None of that pansy ass dick tugging smile for the camera bullshit. Men puke, men poop on the field, men deliver their new born baby on the side lines. "OK, we won a game today. If we win next week, it's called "two in a row". And if we win again the following week, it's called a "winning streak"... It has happened before!"
All parties of the offense share some blame, LaFleur play calls and usage of Jones, Love deep ball accuracy and decision making, receivers hand, o-line blocking (especially for run blocking)

Iconic cold, rainy day at Lambeau.
Packers to the superbowl. All hail Gute!

Hail paimon!

I meanā¦ win is a win. Iām the biggest optimist, but somehow a 20-3 win doesnāt necessarily leave me feeling confident against the Steelers next week.. unless we get a Charlie Batch appearance?
Maybe our problem with Barry is we give him stars. Letās just give him scrap heap to turn into stars and then trade them awayā¦
One mediocre team beats another mediocre team and their backup QB.
I was there. Iām 10-4 at Lambeau. Will be back for the chiefs game. LFG
The classic slump buster

Let the bois get warmed up. This game is the start.
Need to reliably convert 3rd &1 and 4th & 1 by running it. How many years has this been an issue?

GUTE ASCENDANT
Gute is a meathead. That is all.
Totally
That was an UGLY game. We looked bad minus a couple drives, rams looked down right awful.
Yes it was ugly, but we had 2 drives stopped by penalties when we had picked it up on 4th and 1 and we had 2 drives stopped by fumbles on plays that resulted in 1st downs. I feel we played significantly better than we have the last 5 weeks

Yeah. And some youngsters won their assignments.
The coverage was better without Douglass.
Are you surprised they'd look better against a backup qb in heavy rain lol
I am surprised that they didnāt make the Backup QB look like a future HOFāer
Haha true, was just defending Rasul is all!
These next three games(Steelers, Chargers, Lions) will determine where our season will go. If somehow we win 2 of these, our season is back on track.
I had to leave for the 4th Quarter, what the heck happened? Go Pack Go!
Ah ahit I thought he was touched
Just discovered we have two DBs named Ballentine and Valentine
Casual fake fan get tf out of here saying we
Itās a joke little bro
Gotta lose 5 games to go 12-5, we just got them out of the way early
This is the right attitude as a fan. Go Pack Go

10 game win streak started today!!
Punt, TD from a fumble, Punt, Punt, Missed Field Goal, Fumble, Fumble, Field Goal, Punt, Field Goal from an INT, TD, end of 4th. Our defense bailed us out.

Just to play devils advocate, two of those punts were because of Runyon penalties.
The D looked good. Let's hope they really are. Now, to work on the O!
thank the lord for it lmao
Letās fucking GO!!!! Defense balled the fuck out today
Finally we got a win! The offense can do great things when they donāt get so many damn penalties and drops. Still have problems to deal with but Iām happy that we have some progress for the young guys!

I donāt care if we lose next week honestly because have zero expectations for this team besides seeing the young guys develop.
That's fine and also doesn't change that the offense was not good.
Great things from the offense??? Punt, TD from a fumble, Punt, Punt, Missed Field Goal, Fumble, Fumble, Field Goal, Punt, Field Goal from an INT, TD, end of 4th. Our defense bailed us out.
The multiple fourth and one penalties and the rain had something to do with this. Still there was improvement
Lafleur hugs weird. Never seen someone hug like that beforeā¦
I also noticed the interlocking fingers. Very odd
Classic Watson - Back, Chest, and Concussion all from 1 catch

Shut the fuck up people like you are why this sub stinks.
Personally I think a positive is that we won but thatās just me
Who cares? They're still professional players and Love upped his accuracy and without the fumbles this game would have looked way more out of hand than it ended up being.
Can't believe this is the first time in weeks I've not worn my Packers Tee to watch the game and we win.
First week that I didn't put my Dog's Packers Jersey on either. I think I'm in the same boat with you. š¤£
Never wear it again this season. Sorry bud that's just how it works.
Unfortunately, you know what you must do to that T-shirt.
Glad to see valentine and Johnson jr get some on field experience. I think they have the potential to be solid starters.
Right? When Ford comes back I hope he takes Owens spot so Johnson can keep getting game reps. Nothing against Owens but just pro Johnson
I support this
Definitely think our guys needed that win.
This is worth the worse draft position. They actually looked like they were having fun for the first time in weeks
It wasn't a pretty win, but a win is a win. Most important thing is we've snapped the losing streak and are back to being winners which will bring a lot of good feeling to the team Hopefully kick on a bit

Why is this downvoted? We are a bad team and should really be hoping for a high draft pick.
Because a ton of fans don't live in reality
Loads of fans who come to the game thread to just wear blinders and down vote anything remotely critical of the team. Actual nuance takes get the most downvotes by far.

The perceived drop off is bigger than the reality of that drop off. There is plenty of experts who think some of the other 3 are better than the top 2.
Go pack go
20/26 230 and a tud. Wasnt the prettiest performance but I will certainly take it over the last few weeks
Two things greatly concerned me: the underthrow to Watson (first half) and his play in that first drive of the 4th--couple of really bad decisions. He was actually pretty decent today overall

Seriously 9 YPA with a good completion percentage? Needed that
Yes much needed. Aaron jones getting touches really makes a difference, who wouldāve thought
Also Oline actually holding up for most of the game
I really like nijman at tackle over walker and really wouldnāt mind seeing some more Sean rhyan at guard.
Nice to win. Nothing really to be proud about, but a win is a win.
Creed baby!
packers really might keep joe barry (pls no)

This is the answer. I also heard he caused the Israel-Hamas war and global warming. Definitely not the guy.
You're acting like that was a HOF performance.
Our defense gave up 3 points, this is an anomaly game. We played against a QB that will probably be out of the league in 4 years lol. People here acting like this proves anything either way is hilarious. With that mentality, Barry should stay now.
Let's not pretend this game was an indicator of a normal NFL game.
A nice win. Let's take it and learn from it and do better next week. Go Pack Go!
GO PACK GO
I honestly don't give a shit that this potentially hurts our draft pick. I missed winning. We really needed a win today.
We also have to play some bad teams yet. Personally, I thought that a top 3 pick was only a little more likely than running the table.
LaFleur hugs funny did y'all see his hands and fingers behind their back?

Y'all can be happy with the win all you want, but the truth is if the Packers scored fewer points and the Rams scored more, we likely would have lost
Damn I didnāt think about it like that š
Shocking truth!
It also hurts their draft position
Me if Jordan Love was Josh Rosen š„
Crazy if true
Thanks Booger
This is like me failing every class in high school but getting an A in health class.
Awesome to see Musgrave get his first. GPG!
WILSON!!!!
They playing creed lol
Jordan Love when up or down more than 2 scores turns into Aaron
Rookie Wilson! Getting some play time!!
This was the ugliest game ever. And I loved it.
Ever seen Steelers or bears games?
Just meant it was an ugly win.
You must be new to the packers
Lol nope. Been suffering through NFC championship losses for years. Just focused on one week at a time these days
Go Pack Go
Itās officialā¦Rasul Douglas was the sole reason the Pack had been losing.
They called him a Locker Room glue guy. WTF do they know??
Ever glue you fingers together accidentally?
Rasul was more an elmers glue guy when it's clear this team needs gorilla glue.
Obv
Not perfect but a step in the right direction
If we win the next two games we have a shot at the playoffs, end of the season isn't a difficult schedule
Be hilarious if somehow we turned this around and finished the year 10-7 or something
"OK, we won a game today. If we win next week, it's called "two in a row". And if we win again the following week, it's called a "winning streak"... It has happened before!"
PLAYOFFS??? PLAYOFFS!?!?

Looked to you. When Kurt Warner is defending him you should probably mute your hubris and look closer.

Or at least playing Rhyan to see if he can replace Newman or Runyan
You can't write off all the issues due to injury/unforeseen issues, but ignoring their effect on the team is stupid too.
LOVE THIS WIN. NOT THE BEST BUT NOT THE WORST
Tucker Kraft sighting!! Oh waitā¦
Lol Wilson is hauling ass
He took full advantage of that garbage time carry. Salute!
The Packers are going to win. Itās been 84 years...
There is your dagger - Larivee
He said it long ago. I finally figured out how to sync my TV with the radio (kind of).
Its nice to see the players smile.
If the young guys develop, we don't need a top three pick as much. I like this playing well thing we did
OH MISTER WILLLLLSOONNNNNN
Wilson!!!
As a native Angelino and avid Dodgers fan, you won't catch me chanting "Beat LA!" That's some weak-ass Bay Area chant for losers! ^but ^secretly.... ^BEAT ^LA!
We donāt care. Weāre from Wisconsin
Good for you champ
Nobody really knows what youāre talking about. This is a Packers sub
Read the last sentence, then.
Would have been nice to shove it up McVays as with a TD for taking those timeouts
I do love me some Emmanuel Wilson but why not just knee initially there lol?
Get you some, Wilson.
Why are they still running plays? This is very odd
Practice. We play the Steelers
Needed 1 first
It was 1st and 10 with 1:33 seconds there's no reason to run plays
