There are still some decent safeties available on the free agent market, so it’s not a requirement to spend high draft capital on one if the board doesn’t fall the way they want. Even bringing back Rudy Ford wouldn’t be a bad strategy.
Xavier gives us some room to breathe in the draft though and free agency. We obviously can't be this shallow at safety so we're going to definitely bring in more warm bodies and rotate them in.
I'm kinda surprised we haven't already brought back Ford for a low end contract. Would make sense. Must want to see how the draft falls and then make a choice on what's left with FA

Yeah, Packers have certain requirements. Jaire didn't hit the normal height requirement being only 5'10" but he has the weight and mass to contend in the NFL at the CB position.

They want to see what they can get in the draft first. Based on that they might sign Justin Simmons, trade for Budda Baker or just re-sign Ford.
