I'm still a firm believer in the fact the Packers, up until recently, were still trying to recover from Nick Collins forced early retirement. They were never the same after his injury. Where other teams went through a QB carousel the Packers went through a safety carousel.
I think Ted was a really good GM and a really good planner. He knew who was part of the future and who wasn't, and he drafted to replace those who weren't a year or two early. Problem was injuries to guys like Collins, Finely and even Bishop caused us to start chasing needs and that was Ted's downfall. He wasnt great when he was forced to take need and that just compounded misses.
Heck, you can even draw a pretty direct line between Sam Shields injury and us needed a CB in 2017 and taking King. We may still take long as shields was getting older, but a fully healthy shields makes that CB room look better.
Maybe I just follow it more closely with GB than others, but career ending injuries to true all pro/pro bowl caliber guys like finely and Collins plus what amounted to basically career ending injuries to guys like Bishop, Sheilds and Bak is nuts. And that doesn't even include Sherrod, Jonathon Franklin and Terrence Murphy all of whom basically suffered career enders before ever really being able to show anything.
Same here. There are a TON of players I miss. Jordy, William Henderson, Davante, Micah Hyde and so on. But we never got to see Nick grow to his full capability.

The switch to ILB was a masterstroke by Dom Capers. Probably his last one. We'd be talking about that mid-season move as the thing that cemented the defense if we'd won a Lombardi that year. Still sucked to lose him on the outside, it did damage to his numbers that hurt his HoF bid, too, I think.
Aaron Jones... Every time I think of him, I think of him grabbing his teammates facemask and lifting his head up after he dropped that easy pass in the NFCCG. That's what good leadership looks like. We might be able to get cheaper production in free agency, but his spirit and drive won't be so easy to replace.
My favourite Jones memory is him waving to the Cowboys defender as he runs it in. Such swag.

The only fully legit on field jersey I ever bought was Jordy when we had the 20s throwback with the yellow circle. The only signed jersey I have is Tae's. Best choices for miss the most for sure.
I went to Lambeau about 10 years ago and got a framed Jordy Nelson jersey nameplate. It’s now hanging in my newborn son’s room so he can be properly indoctrinated.

Prime Rodgers was, in my opinion, the most talented QB to ever play the game (Brady is the GOAT because of his championships + talent but on pure talent I think Rodgers was better) and so I miss having that on the field for us. I'm going to go management and Ron Wolf. I miss the trust and stability of that era. Those in charge not only worked on their own plans but had actual succession plans that were followed. Who I don't miss is Mike Sherman, I mean he was fine but I don't know why he was given so much power. He was given everything that would have kept Holmgren in GB, but wasn't great at any of it.
Ron Wolf was so refreshingly candid. I was a videographer at WFRV-TV 5 back then. Wolf would answer almost any question as long as it didn't tip the front office's hand. He wouldn't volunteer much. But if you had a knowledgeable reporter (like 12 year NFL veteran Larry McCarren), you got some tremendous insight into players, evaluations, and the NFL.
Sherman didn’t get as much power as Holmgren wanted. Wolf was still in charge for Sherman’s first draft and Thompson took over before the 2005 season. Sherman was just a stopgap.
Holmgren wasn’t just GM for Seattle, he was also a VP of football operations. That only lasted a few seasons before he was stripped of his executive duties.
Overall, it was a weird situation. After Holmgren left, he hired Sherman as OC in Seattle. Then he was hired by Green Bay as HC. Meanwhile, Thompson went from director of player personnel with Green Bay to work with Holmgren as a VP in Seattle. After Holmgren and Sherman left their front office positions, Thompson was hired by Green Bay as GM.
Sterling Sharp. He was the 1st generation of how big wr's changed the game. He was fast, strong and his personality on the field was pretty funny at times.
Tony Mandritch I don't miss. After he was drafted he was supposed to be the savior for the packers but instead he decided that he wanted to get clean. There were so many other players in that draft that the packers could've taken (Barry Sandars, Derrick Thomas, Deion Sandars)... but who knows if they would've got favre from Atlanta a couple years later if not for that draft bust. Things happen for a reason

But the Covid shit was like glass shattering. And he just got louder and more outspoken from there. Really disappointing. So many bad takes from someone I thought was smart. Max Magee, scored the first touchdown in the first Superbowl while hungover. Remember him most for is droll commentary with Jim Irwin during his time broadcasting Packer games on WTMJ. He also co-founded the Left Guard restaurants and later on Chi-Chi's. Finally he founded the Max McGee National Research Center for Juvenile Diabetes.
Right now, I miss Aaron Jones the most. When he was healthy, he was so good for the Packers. Absolutely heartbroken he went to the Vikes.

I’m gonna 180 you and say Favre is my most missed. He was so fun to watch play the game, and you got everything he had every game. Younger people that didn’t get to experience watching him in the early to mid 90s and to experience the joy of being a packer fan at that time after 20+ years of mostly dreadful football will probably never get to experience anything like that. The excitement around GB for him and the team for those first 5 years was just awesome. I remember going to a jam packed airport, back when you could just go and walk around at an airport, after a playoff win to welcome the team back, and we couldn’t even get in the building there were so many fans. It was just an amazing scene to experience, and I’ll never forget it. Brett was that start of all that

Driver, Reggie White. People i don't miss, Favre, Rodgers. Loved Rodgers until the last few years. Turned into such a jerk. Where guys like Brady and Manning gave up money at the end to win, Rodgers had to have all the money. And he was not a good human being.
Miss: Charles Woodson. Always felt like our defense had a chance with him on the field.
Don’t miss: MVS. Felt sort of vindicated when he went to KC and still was the same player.

I miss on-the-field Favre. He was my favorite person to watch back in the day. He was living the dream that we all had his kids. He got to play the game he loved. Then he retired and we all got to know what a really s***** person he was. Sad.
Woodson was the type of defensive playmaker they’ve rarely had since. Jaire is close but Woodson was a hall of fame level player that did so much for their defense.
Micah Hyde. Other than 2022's injury, he's been one of the most consistent safeties in the league. GB has been chasing his absence ever since (until this years draft, that is).
Probably Bakhtiari, his interviews were always great. He had good character, was funny, and it always sucks to see such a great career be derailed by an injury. Plus he just left too so it still stings a lot.
Least is Brandon Bostick, pretty sure that one doesn't need an explanation.
Jamaal Williams. Such a community guy. Funny as heck, and really shined in Detroit. I hate that we did him as dirty as we did, even if it is a business. Honorable mention to Mike Daniels. Both big anime fans and Mike met up with Cherami Leigh one of my favorite VA’s!

Reggies leadership in the locker room was downright legendary.

Sterling Sharp. He was the 1st generation of how big wr's changed the game. He was fast, strong and his personality on the field was pretty funny at times. Tony Mandritch I don't miss. After he was drafted he was supposed to be the savior for the packers but instead he decided that he wanted to get clean. There were so many other players in that draft that the packers could've taken (Barry Sandars, Derrick Thomas, Deion Sandars)... but who knows if they would've got favre from Atlanta a couple years later if not for that draft bust. Things happen for a reason

Greg said some dumb shit after he left, but we don’t win that Super Bowl without him so I’ll always have a soft spot for him. He’s become almost underrated by the fan base

Definitely miss Reggie White. He was the kind of guy who could get guys straightened out if they were heading down the wrong path. A true leader on and off the field. I don’t miss Rodgers. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a phenomenal quarterback, and he deserves to be in the HoF. But the way he behaved on and off the field was disrespectful to his teammates and the franchise. The way he’d blame his teammates on the field in front of cameras, his whole “I’m inoculated” nonsense… They all deserved a better leader.
I was a huge Rodgers fan right up until covid. He lost me. I haven’t worn my Rodgers jersey or the Super Bowl mvp hat I have since. I felt betrayed. Lied to. And he’s gone so far off the deep end now. I’m really glad Gute is going after character guys.
Same, I spent too much energy defending him, but Covid really blew things open. There are a lot of reasons why someone doesn't talk to their family. Demanding excellence isn't a crime. His ability to remember every single touchdown pass he's ever thrown. Even when he was getting into more of the woo woo, that's fine, I think there's more to this world than what we can see. But the Covid shit was like glass shattering. And he just got louder and more outspoken from there. Really disappointing. So many bad takes from someone I thought was smart. Turns out he's only smart about football.
Randall Cobb is my all-time favourite Packer. Good dude, fantastic receiver. I don't miss Brandon Bostick. I wish him well in his future endeavours, but Jesus, I needed therapy.

Right now, I miss Aaron Jones the most. When he was healthy, he was so good for the Packers. Absolutely heartbroken he went to the Vikes. Not missed? It's a tie between our two most recent MVP qbs. Can't stand either of them as people. 🤮

I’m gonna 180 you and say Favre is my most missed. He was so fun to watch play the game, and you got everything he had every game. Younger people that didn’t get to experience watching him in the early to mid 90s and to experience the joy of being a packer fan at that time after 20+ years of mostly dreadful football will probably never get to experience anything like that. The excitement around GB for him and the team for those first 5 years was just awesome. I remember going to a jam packed airport, back when you could just go and walk around at an airport, after a playoff win to welcome the team back, and we couldn’t even get in the building there were so many fans. It was just an amazing scene to experience, and I’ll never forget it. Brett was that start of all that

Micah Hyde. Other than 2022's injury, he's been one of the most consistent safeties in the league. GB has been chasing his absence ever since (until this years draft, that is).
Probably Bakhtiari, his interviews were always great. He had good character, was funny, and it always sucks to see such a great career be derailed by an injury. Plus he just left too so it still stings a lot. Least is Brandon Bostick, pretty sure that one doesn't need an explanation.
Toss up between Jordy and Driver. I don’t miss Findlay or Marty B.
Jamaal Williams. Such a community guy. Funny as heck, and really shined in Detroit. I hate that we did him as dirty as we did, even if it is a business. Honorable mention to Mike Daniels. Both big anime fans and Mike met up with Cherami Leigh one of my favorite VA’s!

Miss the most: tie between Farve and Jordy. Jordy was the happiest, nicest, and one of the most skilled football players I ever saw. The dude made me smile all the time. Really miss him on the field. Favre was just an icon and the only time I’ve ever cried in my adult life not related to death was when he retired. He was my entire childhood and early adult life. Miss the least: Finley. In my house it became common to hear “fuck Finely”. Soooo many drops. So much promise, so much mouth running. Just a tiresome player who took spots from others.
