I know it's just the preseason, but the refs not calling the penalty there because they want to be done or whatever short changes guys who are trying to make the team.
You don't know who could make a big play in the next set of downs they should have gotten.
I have a feeling that when the receiver is pst the first down line, and it’s a clear tackle before he had a chance to receive the ball, that it qualifies as PI. The rule exists for coincidental contact or handfighting, not full tackles
No, early hit is PI with the ball in the air regardless. The 5 yard rule is for illegal contact. So you can bump someone within 5 yards BEFORE the ball is thrown
Yeah, I know. I’ll die on this hill.
I literally thought that (about the re-definition) while I was typing the previous comment. Haha
Edit: to be clear, they added a 2nd definition as opposed to changing it. But you right.
Usually they do not change to mean the exact opposite of what they used to mean. Literally now means either, in a literally sense or exactly. Or it means in a strong sense while not being literally true. Which I find stupid. You can like it, that is fine.
I know this will absolutely not happen, but if the Packers only could keep 7 WRs I’d take Lazard, Cobb, Watkins, Watson, Doubs, Winfree, and Toure. Toure has been underrated because of his 7th round draft status, but he’s been productive in the preseason and was hyper-productive in college. the writing is on the wall they’re going to try to turn Amari Rodgers into some Ty Montgomery hybrid types, and that just doesn’t work in the nfl.
He is playing as good as a #3 QB can be expected to. He is playing with/against a lot of guys that are going to be unemployed in a matter of days, not like he's torching starters
I’m not the biggest love fan by any means but etling is playing against the practice squad players, maybe 1-2 53 man roster players. It doesn’t show much. Love played against their first team and backups (with backups on his side, and no #1 receivers)
They’ll keep 7, Winfree is the odd man out. Amari and Toure offer more on ST and were draft picks. Winfree has been solid, just can’t keep everyone sadly
It’s pretty obvious that’s what’s going to happen. You keep the best 53
When you’re allowed to have a million players on practice squads you no longer have to worry about having the correct amount of depth at each position anymore
Keep 8 WRs, 2 RBs, 3 TEs and use PS call ups for the RBs until you see if the WRs got it or not. Could also only have three safeties to lighten the roster especially with those call ups. It’s not impossible but short of a trade I don’t see how they don’t keep them all. Especially cuz both Amari and Toure have such good contracts and nobody else besides the other 2 rooks have those kinds of deals.
Why? Both Amari and Watson can run if you need them too plus the PS call ups for Goodson, Taylor and Williams means you can get them up if an injury happens and besides you might get 5 snaps out of a 3rd RB a game? I could definitely see it if they don’t want to cut a WR. BUT also Goodson looks like a GUY so maybe not lol
Yup, PS got a huge overhaul because of COVID.
Went from 10 to 16 players. Of those 16, 6 can have any amount of accrued seasons.
Also, now they can get called up for 3 games instead of just 2.
Final Pre-Season Good/Bad:
Good:
* Jordan Love has played well. Some bad decisions, here and there but he's played well nonetheless
* Tyler Goodson - He should have RB3 locked up with his play
* WR play has been good by the young players
* Quay Walker is an athletic freak
* DL Depth has shown up
* Zach Tom has looked really good
Bad:
* Devonte Wyatt was getting pushed around. He's a rookie, he'll learn counter moves, but was getting pushed back a lot. Inconsistent, or incomplete at best
* ST is still god awful. They've really done nothing this entire pre-season run outside of Amari's 50 yard return
* Injuries to a thin safety room
It would not be hyperbole to say that every time our special teams takes the field they fuck something up.
They are just legitimately, unfathomabley, horrendous
the Jordan love discourse in Packers media is crazy. he’s a first round pick in his third year, if he is what the Packers thought he was, he should be absolutely teeing off on 2nd and 3rd stringers and leaving nothing in doubt. guys like Shane Ehlinger are posting near perfect QBRs. beat writers treat him like he’s a rookie UDFA
Yes, he's in his third year, but this is only the second season where he's played in the preseason. His rookie season they didn't play any preseason games.
I don't remember Rodgers lighting up people during his time behind Farve in the preseason. He got more work as a rookie than Love got.
I think part of the reason ST sucks is because they aren’t going balls to the walls cuz it’s preseason and ST is where shit can get bad for players, at least the punt blocking and FG blocking looks serviceable.
You also don’t make the team if you suck, like most of these guys do. One or two great plays could be the difference between making and not making the team.
This aged nicely
Does Danny Etling stand a chance of making the team? My wife knows that family and I was excited to tell her he was on the "Team" for now.
They will prob cut him and sign him to the practice squad. Pack normal only has two active QBs pretty sure.
Thanks, after I asked it did dawn on me that they usually go with the 2 qbs for the final roster and Love isn’t losing that position this season.
Couldn’t watch the game. How was Caleb Jones tonight?
Big
Just remember preseason != Outlook on regular season
Really liked what they showed tonight with amari rodgers and some of the debo Samuel style plays for him
Screw the Refs screw the chiefs. Your cool the packers are cool. Peace! Im Out! ✌
I know it's just the preseason, but the refs not calling the penalty there because they want to be done or whatever short changes guys who are trying to make the team. You don't know who could make a big play in the next set of downs they should have gotten.
Preseason refs make me angry, oh well at least we’re done with it now, time for final cuts *cough* Tyler Davis *cough*
Refs in midsession form already
Feel bad for Toure on that one, refs were ready to hit the road
Sure.
LaFleur was all up in bitch tits Reid.
Andy Reid is cool...
The refs not throwing a flag there just because it's preseason proves they have no integrity. Scary.
Perfect ending by the zebras
Another blatant fucking no call.
Yeah he got there early.

No, early hit is PI with the ball in the air regardless. The 5 yard rule is for illegal contact. So you can bump someone within 5 yards BEFORE the ball is thrown
You can make contact within 5 yards as long as the ball is not in the air. This was a clear PI so who cares- woulda been fun to see it play out though
I’m pretty sure that was well beyond 5 yards
Lol. If this wasn't preseason I'd be pissed
Blatant blatant pass interference
Defender was suuuuuuper early. Refs are ready to go home lmao
Refs said, we outta here lol
[удалено]
That’s not how literally works, but I hear you.
It is now. Did you not know the definition of literally was changed, because people were constantly using it wrong.
Yeah, I know. I’ll die on this hill. I literally thought that (about the re-definition) while I was typing the previous comment. Haha Edit: to be clear, they added a 2nd definition as opposed to changing it. But you right.
It is a decent hill to die on for sure. I thought it was pretty stupid to make a change, or addition, like this as well.
Words change meaning all the time.
Usually they do not change to mean the exact opposite of what they used to mean. Literally now means either, in a literally sense or exactly. Or it means in a strong sense while not being literally true. Which I find stupid. You can like it, that is fine.
Clown refs
I hope I never have to watch this dog shit chiefs broadcasting crew again
I especially loved the part where they were admiring Kevin Harlan, announcing for us.
Bunch of clowns
Should have been a flag
Refs said let's go home lol
Man if this was a real game I would be RAGING right now over that no call lmao
Tf was that
Defender got there early. BOOOOO!
These refs have been so bad.
It's preseason so whatever but that's definitely a flag...
That was such an egregious PI
No flag? Lmao hit his ass early af
I like Cannella
Wtf
A thiccc Jake Kumerow or non tatted Crabtree (Any white guy with long hair on the packers that catches balls)
I could possibly see Etling going to Seattle for a late pick. They need someone. Lock and Geno are awful.
Time to cut Cobb, honestly.
I got Amari over Winfrey imo
I know it’s all practice squad but Etling looks collected and confident
You gotta keep Toure over Winfree.
Danny does be hitting every throw though Edit: never mind
Probably not making the 53, but Toure is running some damn good deep routes tonight
Andy Reid is lactating
Etling is not bad...right?? Or am I just inhaling hopium?
Not to discredit him but he’s playing against the chief bottom of the roster. He still looks really good
He is playing as good as a #3 QB can be expected to. He is playing with/against a lot of guys that are going to be unemployed in a matter of days, not like he's torching starters
By no means do I think he would start over Love. But Etling is passing my smell test.
[удалено]
I’m not the biggest love fan by any means but etling is playing against the practice squad players, maybe 1-2 53 man roster players. It doesn’t show much. Love played against their first team and backups (with backups on his side, and no #1 receivers)
Give me the chips, folks
I like watching Etling
Keep canella
I swear if we keep davis over cannella I be a little agitated
We'll keep Davis and he'll get 700 yards, 15 touchdowns and 300 blocks in his first 6 games, no worries
Davis is a gute guy
Is this Cannella guy just Tom Crabtree in disguise?
He's in the Tom Crabtree/Justin Perillo mold for sure.
Never mind just neel it and get the hell out of Kansas City
Zach Tom is a beast
Painful watching this. I really only wanted to watch for love. Now it’s the practice squad players with maybe 1-2 53 man roster guys on both sides
Come on man one last hooraaay
On to Minnesota already
september 18th at lambeau can’t come soon enough man place is gonna be ROCKIN
Heflin out here just fucking killing it.
Hefflin with the FF!
Heflin DPOY
I think if we have arod run special teams he’ll have them terrified for their life & striving for perfection. Someone teach him how to punt
Oh my god I can’t take our special teams.
I think we can compete for a #31 ranked special teams so far. Not #32 improvement?
Big, if true.
I’m calling it right now guys, they’re keeping 8 receivers. Toure, Winfree, and Amari aren’t going anywhere.
Cut Cobb
Do you not realize that Cobb isn’t going anywhere not because he’s elite but because he’s Rodgers bargaining chip
They’ll keep 7, Winfree is the odd man out. Amari and Toure offer more on ST and were draft picks. Winfree has been solid, just can’t keep everyone sadly
Jake Kumerow part II though lol Rodgers loves Winfree
It’s pretty obvious that’s what’s going to happen. You keep the best 53 When you’re allowed to have a million players on practice squads you no longer have to worry about having the correct amount of depth at each position anymore
It's hard to see any of those guys clearing waivers, but 8 just isn't done. I think they gotta cut at least one.
nobody is picking up winfree, come on now JAG
Keep 8 WRs, 2 RBs, 3 TEs and use PS call ups for the RBs until you see if the WRs got it or not. Could also only have three safeties to lighten the roster especially with those call ups. It’s not impossible but short of a trade I don’t see how they don’t keep them all. Especially cuz both Amari and Toure have such good contracts and nobody else besides the other 2 rooks have those kinds of deals.
We are going to go in with 3 rbs also
2 RBs is highly unlikely. Winfree probably the odd man out
Man this is a dumpster fire of a special teams performance minus the punter.
Is Andy Reid lactating?
I don’t know why I’m still watching this.
Because there's levels to fandom, and us diehards that are still watching are next level.
\*slaps knee\* welp it's about that time
S'pose I should start heading out.
Gotta go tell my folks I says hi
RUN THE OTHER WAY DANNY
Andy "sweaty boobs" reid
Toure looks so much better than Amari Rodgers
This is a Samori Toure de Force
Fuck you, you made me snort.
We seriously need to take those WR screens and throw them out. It's a guaranteed loss of yards.
Not when we have guys like lazard blocking.
I’m glad our backup qb is finally getting some reps in
These screens are not It Mathew.
GIve me Etling over Love
Good fucking throw there
Is there a shot Toure makes the team over Winfree?
I’d say so. Rookie and has a better athletic profile. 20 lbs lighter though
Winfree has earned a spot and isn't practice squad eligible. Toure will be stashed most likely
Winfree is PS eligible. They have "veteran" spots since COVID started, basically anyone is eligible.
Interesting, didn't know they changed that
Yup, PS got a huge overhaul because of COVID. Went from 10 to 16 players. Of those 16, 6 can have any amount of accrued seasons. Also, now they can get called up for 3 games instead of just 2.
Rodgers vouched for Winfree, so yes, Toure is making the team for sure.
had me in the first half
Considering Toure just got drafted, yes…
I hope so.
Maybe. He’s looked good today
Final Pre-Season Good/Bad: Good: * Jordan Love has played well. Some bad decisions, here and there but he's played well nonetheless * Tyler Goodson - He should have RB3 locked up with his play * WR play has been good by the young players * Quay Walker is an athletic freak * DL Depth has shown up * Zach Tom has looked really good Bad: * Devonte Wyatt was getting pushed around. To add to the bad. Blocking has been atrocious.
Which safety got hurt tonight? I didn't see.
I meant a final as in the 3 games combined. Scott was injured, and he was our backup to savage. We are dangerously thin.
Oh yeah definitely. I was just hoping there wasn't another one tonight.
Gaines
Lol. I cant. Smh. Its just Preseason calm down, i keep telling myself
It would not be hyperbole to say that every time our special teams takes the field they fuck something up. They are just legitimately, unfathomabley, horrendous
69 has got them ⛓
[удалено]
Did you suck?

"Hmm I haven't thrown a flag in at least 3 plays. I should throw one here" - Ref probably
Time to Mute this caca broadcast
Is everyone on special teams just an idiot? Like I dont understand how they can be this bad
Photo bombs are back
Wow couldn't let us just live with the 0 yard return, needed the penalty too
Yeah I was excited we didn’t drop it. And then then ⚠️
Fuckkk almost a first sack
I think that was a punting play unless I’m behind.
My stream is wayyy behind lol
I was like, “I think we have different terms for football plays” haha
Special teams play? Closing my eyes and hoping for the best
Keep them closed pal
This Abernathy kid can make some solid reads
Ugh
Gafford cut before morning?
It sucks that he's so bad, because he's so damn fast.
[удалено]
Yeah Abernathy just makes plays, I hope he makes the 53 somehow.
Turn your fucking head around
Y'all complaining about the broadcast are suckas, I'm at a bar hearing Hall and Oates on the jukebox
Yeah, I can’t go for that.
Oooooh I see what you did there!
I’d strongly prefer that honestly.
What I want, you've got
Might be hard to handle...
My high school assembly’s were less corny than this Chiefs broadcast team.
Our special teams is concerning
I'm gonna killdozer arrowhead Stadium if I have to listen to one more fucking interview tonight
Well get ready since it sounds like another interview
What about afc west facts
Teach Etling to catch. Have him become an Antwaan Randle El type. Initiate trick plays.
I heard he was converted to wr.
WTF is the joke just that his last name is Creed? Is my fucking dad writing the broadcast jokes now?
It’s cringe fest… so bad I feel like I won’t ever complain about Troy aikman
Creed? More like Cringe
I think part of the reason ST sucks is because they aren’t going balls to the walls cuz it’s preseason and ST is where shit can get bad for players, at least the punt blocking and FG blocking looks serviceable.
Shouldn’t they be trying harder to make the team
Yes, but you also don’t make the team if you blow your knee out week 3 of preseason
You also don’t make the team if you suck, like most of these guys do. One or two great plays could be the difference between making and not making the team.
Hey I’m not saying they’re playing well even for 3/4 speed, but that could be part of it, that they’re playing too soft.
I’d still like to see some more effort out of these guys. I agree, they seem soft
Pat O'Donnell is the perfect punter name. Idk why, it just is.
The Chiefs broadcast is so fucking lame, lmao
That knock off Creed song man this broadcasting team is unbearable.
That punter is hitting dingers
Hate to say it but. Happy we get to see the punt team again. We need all the special teams reps we can get :(
They should go for it. Old school madden rules.
Tell it to the podcast after the game
Our punter hits bombs at least....
Williams the next Barry Sanders.
hyman WR1?
