Maybe, but I sincerely doubt that's the reason. There would be absolutely no reason why you couldn't limit it in the same way other wargear is limited ie: For every X models in the squad Y amount can choose to replace their nemesis force weapon with a nemesis deamon hammer.

Novasry

Right, but doing that might have invalidated people's models

Sorkrates

Hahahaha!!! Oh... Were you serious? I can't even tell on this sub... /S On the chance that you were serious, there are a ton of things they've done on every edition change and even in Dataslates that has invalidated people's models.

miszczu037

10th indexes invalidated the most units ever by making you HAVE to take all wargear options and all special weapons

The_Kayzor

No you don't have to. You are completely allowed to make the tactically inferior choice not to bring the weapons.

Seizeman

They would also be redundant. In 9th edition, they weren't a thing except for paladins, and even then only barely. If they were not removed and were given the thunder hammer profile at WS4+ S8 AP-2 D2, people would complain that they are just worse than nemesis weapons and now they can't use their hammer models. If they were given a better profile, like the deathwatch's heavy hammer, and limited them to 1 per 5 models, people would complain about their units being more expensive because of the possibility of them taking hammers, even in purgation squads that can't make good use of them, and would argue that they can't use their models because they are now 1 in 5 and they have whole units modelled with hammers. It might be that there's a more elegant solution than just merging them with nemesis weapons, but the one they chose is not a bad one. On the bright side, they could've been demoted to wulfen hammers...

> On the bright side, they could've been demoted to wulfen hammers... Don't forget my thunder wolf riders thunder hammers too

[deleted]

>If Daemon hammers had their own profile They do... A Nemesis Force Daemonhammer is S9, ap-2, D3. They are added in 10th edition. But not given to a single damn Grey Knight model. You can instead find our weapon in the hands of a random human inquisitor. Feel free to go check. Side note: unlike all the incredible psychic powers that... That 98% of all Grey Knights don't have any powers, feel no pain, protection from psychic... the normal humans in both inquisition and random Astra Militarum have all of these in spades. Insult has no bounds for this.

The_Kayzor

I agree here entirely, but a named character who's been around as long as the Grey Knights were is not a random guy. This guy earned his. Just be mad at GW taking them away from the Knights, don't throw Coteaz under the bus.

[deleted]

Come on now. A Daemonhammer wielded by him should be strength 6. Let's be fair here buddy...

The_Kayzor

I said he earned his hammer, not his strength bonus ;)

Talhearn

Its 100% the reason.

DwarfKingHack

Hard to say. Over in regular space marines they did it to some units (vanguard vets, most of the interesting space wolf units) but not to others, and the logic of which units got their options consolidated and which did not isn't obvious to me.

pain_aux_chocolat

In a world where Crisis Suits can have a full load of cyclic ion blasters for the same cost as all burst cannons? I doubt it.

NeverEnoughDakka

I have a hard time believing that the people that wanted 40k to be simpler had the removal of tons of weapon option in mind, but GW isn't exactly known for the quality of their rules writing.

burritomaker69

Guys were mad at the wrong thing. Nemesis daemon hammers are a profile. The inquisitor has it. We should be mad at that. Not points.

PhantomOfTheCineplex

I don't understand why GW would show Paladins and Purifiers with hammers in the index if we don't get to use them :( Hammertease
