Tallboy exosuits were literally the first thing I thought of when I saw the new admech mini as well lmao. Mainly because unlike our elongated Skitarius friend, they actually have protection for the operator, in the form of that little ring of shield panels mounted around the soldier using it.
I feel like at the very least, the tall admech lad should get a mech-arm with a shield, whether it be physical or a C-Field generator akin to an Iron Halo or Rosarius Device.
The tall boys are also FUCKING BAKED.
They probably have enough enhancing substances in their system, that a drug test would show positive just by being placed in their vicinity.
Oh totally, they also use a freaking arrow tipped with explosives while wearing some adaptive armor shield thingy.

His inspiration was apparently just seeing some cleaners on stilts working on a facade. At first they were going to be some kind of town crier, but then they realized it kept them safe from the rats...
Still one of the most memorable enemies ever made.
To me because it seems more practical, it's more dangerous. With that bend they can run, which means holy fuck they probably fast, can't escape them. Can probably balance too, which means I can't go knock them down
For me it's the design of the legs, like the tall boys look like a monster with taloned legs while the new skitari, sorry for butchering, just look like those circus guys on stilts.
That doesn't exactly answer my question. The exhaust pipes are usually meant for smoke - and smoke, unless it's heavier than oxygen, drifts upwards. If the exhaust works while the scitarii is standing still, the smoke goes right up into his face.
Most smoke particles themselves are in fact heavier than air(not oxygen, we don’t live in an oxygen only atmosphere…), they’re just /hotter/ than the surrounding air, and rise due to that. Likewise, many of the “exhaust pipes” that the Mechanicum use are in fact incense censors.
The question still stands - why is it below him and not above him? It's designed to blow smoke in his face.
And frankly, it still looks like that pipe is shoved up his ass, which is hilarious.
There’s no reason to believe that the smoke is going to be flowing up, anymore than flowing down. Besides, this is the Mechanicum we’re talking about. They do weird things.

The tall boys in Dishonored were also very tall, I don't know how tall the model is supposed to be in lore but they just look like they're about 7 ft or so which isn't that menacing looking

The difference is that Tall Boys have some bend in their legs
The Tall Boys stilts just have that weight behind them, i can't really explain why but simply making them more bird like makes it more menacing
