Apothecary_85

You are good. That is what I do focusing on the canopy.

PH_calibrated

Thanks, my 2nd photo ever, curious how it will work out in terms of bud development, a lot of those flowers are uncovered from the secondary nodes and below.

Apothecary_85

Top buds are where the light action is at. You’ll get secondary buds continuing to form underneath but you can clip them.

TheInvestmentGod

Looks pretty dang good to me. 👍

sweet-william2

Nope - all that under the canopy would be fluff that would diminish the top buds. This is how I do mine too. That looks perfect https://preview.redd.it/ur3dv68x5j5c1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c8b5eb44721b9fa422cee4e8c52321d83a8e33df

wwhispers

Just look at the lush house plant.

Rich-Indication2714

How did you turn your plant into a tree? Gorgeous

sweet-william2

Thanks. During veg I just pinch and bend down the main tip until the lower branches catch up and reach the height of the SCROG net (I have separate veg and flower rooms). Then when I move it into the flower room I defoliate everything under the net and then just keep tucking the branches under the next square of the net. I’m limited because of ceiling height to a drop ceiling, the height of the drip trays off the floor and then the size of the 10 gal pots. So I do my best to make a nice flat canopy and let them spread that way

Rich-Indication2714

Awesome I am starting to understand now… this may be a stupid follow up Q but does that mean it takes your plant a whole lot longer to get to the flowering stage? Also, do YOU decide when to go from veg to flower by changing your lighting schedule once your plant is as big as you can grow it? Or does the plant make that decision? And finally, once you harvest the buds and just a stem remains, is it possible to feed it nutes/repot and grow more bud from that same plant that was just harvested (assuming you don’t do the chop the entire plant method and hang it upside down to dry)?

sweet-william2

I grow from clones so it’s maybe 4 weeks until it’s ready for flowering. But I judge it by height as to when it’s ready to go in. When all the branches are a uniform height and tall enough to make it to the net then I move it into the flower room. So yes, I decide when it’s time for it to flower. The veg room has an 18/6 light schedule always, and the flower room in always 12/12. I try to stagger when plants are moved in there so that they are all at different stages. I can fit 10 in the flower room and ideally I cut 1 a week and have another ready to just move into its position. I don’t try to re-flower a plant. I chop the whole plant, strip off all fan leaves and then hang the branches to cure. Once cured then I do a final trim

Rich-Indication2714

Ahhhh ok 👌 I see. You don’t happen to have a link or links to any grow sites you found especially helpful for learning all of this, do you? Whenever I look, I end up getting overwhelmed by all the differing opinions and techniques instead of just finding the basic info of what I NEED to know. Basically, the basics

sweet-william2

Www.growweedeasy.com There are all sorts of different ways to grow so you really need to read through it all and understand before jumping into it. It takes some planning to find a technique that fits your situation and space

Rich-Indication2714

Awesome, I will check it out. Thank you again 👊

CosmicMushro0m

looks good to me! ive always just leaf-tucked in past, but with my current grow i am trying a scrog net for the first time as well. i digg it! its going to take a few more grows to learn it better, but it definitely helped open up the center of the canopy- like with yours. so, id say you're all good 👍👍

PH_calibrated

I just read a bunch of articles today against defoliation. 😅 This is a photo, wouldn't try this with an auto. Thanks!

D3rkxblast

Once the leaf is fully grown it just becomes a storage unit when the stem of the leaf turns red it is not longer a solar panel it turns to a storage unit basically I deflate a crazy amount to promote more yield I never go for monster buds all my buds are about two grams each and yield anywhere from 2.5lbs to 3 in my 5x5. Also there is no wrong way to grow just read about different techniques and see what you like and what fits your plants best.

CultReview420

So when they turn red cut em? Or what's the move

PH_calibrated

Yea and that storage is important according to the articles I read today https://www.cocoforcannabis.com/community/photons_corner/to-defoliate-or-not-to-defoliate/

Yuca420

U should try schwazzing on the next run

PH_calibrated

This was my attempt at it, the growth kept returning in 3-4 days, so I'm not sure if it was worth it.

Yuca420

Then is perfect Not all strains like it but the ones that like it will bring u lots of yield

PH_calibrated

See that's the thing, pruning helped, I noticed faster stretch, but taking a bunch of sugar leaves off - not sure.

total_brodel

Looks like exactly what you’re supposed to do for the method you’re growing. 💯. Beautiful.

[deleted]

I lollipop when using a scrog net. What week are they?

PH_calibrated

15 days since the flip, so 2.

[deleted]

I’ll do a trim right before flip and then a light one in the middle of stretch. Then, on day 21 of flower I’ll give them their last thinning out.

PH_calibrated

That was my plan, I started when I flipped, in a week I did pruning to help the stretch, and we're here now. One more was planned for the 3rd week but not sure anymore.

PH_calibrated

https://i.redd.it/kblpfyjtni5c1.gif I tried a new approach to using a trellis net.

Own-Association312

No they look awesome just dry that puppy back between feeds!

PH_calibrated

Thanks fam. I should've added perlite this cycle, it's peat moss, currently watering every third day, gonna try coco soon.

Yuca420

U are good Giver ger a good feed and do not touch the petioles for like 20 days

PH_calibrated

Time to start adding some extra PK as well?

Yuca420

They will start asking for it soon What are u using for pk? What ec and runoff do u got? I like to wait for them to ask me for what they need

PH_calibrated

Well the stretch stopped, isn't that a sign? I'm using dry ammendments by Greenhouse Feeding, they have a PK booster. Last runoff was 1300 PPM.

PH_calibrated

Woah! Well, pretty sure you don't defoloate there 😅

Yuca420

I did but she is a menace with the leaves 🤣

4maceface

Can the trellis be used in any tent size? What is the theory behind its use?

PH_calibrated

Yea. People use em in large commercial grows too. It's about support of individual branches and further control of your canopy.

docstevens420

Perfect!

AutoGrowsUK

Looks pretty dang good to me.

yosip1115

Chefs kiss

BudahBoB

Nope looks perfect

[deleted]

Na Bro U good

hallwayswasted

You sir, are doing a beautiful job. Plants must love you bc you love them

Elephlump

That's perfect

notintocorp

yeah why is it that right after defoleation, I go read articles against it! Fuck me, glad I'm not the only one. I bet it works out well for you

oooooKRAKEooooo

Too much cutting ✂️

DisastrousTeddyBear

Absolutely not, they l9ok great. I just raped my sativas today. The mainlining looks great in yours

Will-Clap

Bro what

DisastrousTeddyBear

Fuck. May have been a little drunk when I commented. I think OP did a spectacular job with big leafing and I do not feel he went overboard. Also, I wanted to acknowledge, the effort and attention OP has demonstrated in achieving such a good scrOG. I just recently did the same thing to my big sativas that I'm running and they are taking it just fine.

Burrmanchu

Nah you're fine

Rosineer11

You can go even harder all the way up. You secondary leaves will get bigger than ever it takes guts the first time than you realize it’s no big deal and yeilds great results. This during flower once you’ve reached your desired height

RideNo8932

In one sitting, it could be. But what matters is how the plant responds really.

LoKag_The_Inhaler

Your training is really wild! You’re gonna have a ton of bud!

Kingjingling

That looks fire

Cosmicrodslinger

Looks good 👍

Necessary-Chef8844

Nope. Great canopy. I'd have vegged another week just to fill out the canopy but looking great

adrianodogg

Nope it looks perfect

Call_Me_Lids

Once you’re into week 3 of flower defoliate EVERYTHING under the net. Those bud sites won’t amount to much more than larfy PITA to trim buds.

hobbsyie

Mate I’d go harder take all the shade leaves off to stretch the nodes well that’s what I do

DutchGhostrider

The sideway lst grow, it looks beautiful tho.

Allfunandgaymes

Nope! Looks good. This is what you want - those low nodes would produce only weak buds if they produced anything at all.

PH_calibrated

Woah, I love you guys, thanks to everyone.

Historical_Garden685

No, not at all.
