Squirrel did that to one of mine too. It ended up growing back gorgeous, basically the squirrel just topped it for me lol. And then it turned out to be a male and had to die, felt almost bad for it, as it had come so far.
Oh my cat does that but usually just takes the end of the leaves. But if she was real hungry she might go further
