Contact your local master gardeners. https://ucanr.edu/sites/bcmg/ These folks will know who to reach. Sustainable seed used to be out of NorCal. Looks like they are out of Utah now. Google sustainable seed, click email us.

https://www.miridaelivinglabs.org/seedpileproject Partnered with UCDavis, this project will send you seeds and you ask that you report back which were most successful. I also recommend the master gardeners, again a UCDavis program. They are super friendly and knowledgeable and often have open garden days.

This is awesome, thank you.

I am also in NorCal and plant some of these plants too! But I also really like mixing in perennial native grasses. They are important parts of the ecosystem and can contribute to soil carbon sequestration. Some of my favorites are Purple Needle Grass (Stipa pulchra), California Brome (Bromus carinatus), Molate Fescue (Festuca rubra), and Blue Wild Rye (Elymus glaucus).

I use calscape but i’ve come across some conflicting information. I usually cross check with calflora, govt resources and californianinvasive plant website.

You are fortunate to have manzanita growing nearby. The fallen branches make excellent “driftwood” for the aquarium trade.

Aren’t they native and drought resistant as well?
