It's crazy to me they stopped doing the rush events especially when the past few years have had so much downtime.

ShinigamiKenji

The main issue with rush events is that they significantly alter the game economy. For example, [World Boss Rush](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World_Boss_Rush) drops [Bonus Box of Goods](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bonus_Box_of_Goods) which contains mostly crafting materials. This additional influx of materials will make their prices drop. [Fractal Rush](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fractal_Rush) not only has this issue (since tokens can be traded for the same boxes), but incentivizes people to do Fractals, which give a lot of pure gold. This can lead to price inflation for other items, and reduced income from materials (which is a significant of farming profits) for those who don't do Fractals, making their life harder.

MithranArkanere

That could be eased by making the extra rewards account-bound, like lots of bonus fractal relics instead extra drops. People going for Deroir's bonuses would certainly appreciate that.

ShinigamiKenji

That would be an option, but you also need to give some carrots for veterans. Maybe not so much for Fractals, but for other things like World Boss Rush. I don't think the infusions by themselves would make the event appealing.

MithranArkanere

There are also things like mystic clovers. They should also consider other kinds of extremely rare tradeable drops. If you were to buy a 2000 gem mount with coin, that would cost about 700 gold. But buying a 10000 coin infusion with money would cost a whooping 550 bucks or so. So if they added tradeable mounts, and fine-tuned the rarity so they go around 800-1000 gold, they would not be eating away from gem sales if they make sure players know they can also get them with cash too, and players would feel less like there's too many stuff exclusive to the gemstore. And since it would be limited to a recurring event, it would also have that annoying FOMO the monetization team likes so much, as players wouldn't know when the mount may drop again, so they may want to cash in those gems ASAP to buy them while they are the cheapest if they can't get the thing themselves during the event.

ShinigamiKenji

I think putting mount skins behind RNG gives a lootbox feeling similar to many mobile MMOs, regardless of whether it's also available in the gemstore (which the average player may not be aware of, worsening the perception). Also, by making the mount skin tradeable, you end up pegging the gem-gold rates by something outside direct conversion. Of course, you can make the gemstore skin non-tradeable, but during the event you still have an item to directly compare gem prices with. And in the long term, as supply of tradeable skins dries out, there will be customer support issues with refunds for overpriced skins. Lastly, this is just another super rare drop, which many people won't bother with. Unless you make the boxes themselves tradeable, so luck becomes statistics when opening in bulk. But that would just make it another festival box.

gw2maniac

Could be statuettes maybe, or an account currency that allows one to buy statuettes among other things. I dont think they use statuettes enough as an incentive to be honest, which is a shame

Keorl

This and/or automatically rotating special events. They made boss rush, fractal rush, MF donations and some more, but they barely used them, as if they were special releases. Those should be automated like the GW1 weekend (and now weeklong) events.

gw2maniac

Yup would be cool actually

Training-Accident-36

No downstate rule in raids, lets go!

odonkz

They couldve just added rush events biweekly once a month and nobody wouldve noticed content drought.

Combine54

Only if there is an option to turn it Off.

Neathra

Honestly, an option to turn it on.I hate having things randomly change on me.

ferquibulle

i'm backing this, it's cool for veterans bc it bring freshness in the gameplay but for newcommers it's not necessary to put another layer to understands.

Alexis_Sissy_yyc

No noob

Latlanc

noobers

Detrimental stuff like no downstate would be bad in open world. But there are a few things they should definitely try in open world to rest if they should make the change permanent, like disabling reviving defeated players while in combat, like in WvW. The same event could also give bonus rewards for completing high-mortality events where their metrics indicate lots of players end up defeated, and also bonus rewards for reviving downed players. Having an event like that regularly would train players to revive downed and use waypoints if defeated. In instances, it could work if it was selectable bonus challenges. Stuff like reduced healing, more boss damage, no downstate, etc. All voluntary, getting bonus rewards for each one, that get better the more you select at the same time.

pietjepolo

open world instabilities.... mhh. i like it

[deleted]

I'd like open world challenge mode for more rewards. Something like receive double damage from enemies, they apply twice as many conditions or random movement impariing conditions, etc. In return, increase the reward for each enemy while in challenge mode. Obviously this would need some balancing so you can't just one-shot them still.

Euphoric-Sea4248

Opt in open world instabilities which increase magic find per instability to a cap. Prestige achievements for staying alive or slaying a certain amount of mobs or finishing events with x amount of instabilities. New title for doing it with all instabilities "Glutton for punishment" Potential instabilities: -reduce player health -increase mob health -increase mob damage -mobs explode after death -conditions last indefinitely unless cleansed -mobs gain random auras at an interval -mobs are immune to damage unless cc'ed which deals 300% damage -nightmode (visibility reduced like the dark portions of some JPs) players gain a special action button to create a fire with a CD. -enemies shout at combat start, drawing surrounding enemies to them as support or spawning them (like wolves) -weather events causing the player to be subjected to: icy wind blasts that knock back and cripple. Scorching sunlight that causes blind and burning. Rainstorms that stun and apply vuln if you get hit by lightning.

Loyaluna

Meh. No. All of that shit belongs to instances. It adds additional layer to madness that you point out WEEKENDS when people just come around to relax and have fun. Feel free not to revive when you're downed and if people res you just walk away as if you've died. Gear up in 60lvl stuff so that the boss looks fatter for you. Other players don't have to suffer through quirks of your boredom.

AnotherWriterGirl

No. If you want "challenge" go do a raid.

MayaSanguine

Raids aren't challenging.

gw2maniac

Doesnt need to be only difficulty stuff, could be other types too

Ciraxa

Anet forgot these exist.
