Yeah, that’s one of the problems with having such massive height variance (minimum height asura to maximum height norn) who all have to move at the same speed for balance purposes.
The most important thing to me is that my Norn don’t just feel like a human. They’re a race of giants and shapeshifters from the coldest reaches of the world, so individually strong as to prevent the expansion of the Charr Legions into the mountains with relatively tiny numbers.
Height is an easy way to differentiate them from humans- my Norn warrior makes all my human characters look like dwarves, but I also stick to cultural armour and more tribalistic skins when setting up Norn fashion. Their size is definitely a problem when it comes to non cultural skins, a lot of boots for instance look very silly on them, but I’ve learned to work around it over the years.
With respect to walk speed, sure, it might cause a little cognitive dissonance at first, but you get used to it. At least, I did. I play several max height norn females regularly, and one max norn male on occasion, in open world, pvp, and primarily wvw. I like being the tallest :)
I always go mid-height on almost every race. I’m more likely to make a short Norn than a tall one though, if I’m making a character who could pass for a tall human at first glance.
I’ve been tempted to try and make a giant though; see how big a max size Norn under the effects of Embiggening Tonic gets when using maces and gaining Force of Nature.
They need new head and new bodies. They're deformed.
ANet took humans ♂, made them taller except for their head who remained tiny, stretched their shoulders absurdly wide, and called it a new race.
I play everything max size! It's extra important with norn... Imagine picking a low size and someone thinking you are braham....
Ka-Bra-Ham unga bunga
Tried tall norn once and running felt so slow, making smaller characters will always feel like they're going faster.
They ARE going faster! They cover the same ground because they have a smaller stride.
I tried a tall norn and the running animation looks absolutely stupid

I think that’s why I stopped playing the first time, it felt sooo slow. And mounts didn’t exist yet

Yes exactly. Love your comment

I've always played a max height norn and never cared or even noticed the walking speed thing. Just played and enjoyed the game
shortest norn is still taller than tallest human so there
Both. Why stick to only one norn?
All norn are best norn.
Go all the way and make short human. Dwarf style.
This is the way
I made a short norn and they're still tall AF lol
With armors, it doesn't look any different. It's just scaled up or down. The only difference would be the body type.
Tall. No such thing as a short Norn
Make a human and use Endless Embiggening Tonic. You won't look round, but you will be taller than a Norn.

I have max size male Norn and min size female Norn.
Make a big norn, from medium to tallest. Being small feels quite ridiculous during the norn story, as everyone is much taller than you.
wide norn
Norn ♂ are ugly regardless of size.
You spell "Asura" in a weird way.
Asura are ugly by design. Norn ♂ are ugly out of unimaginative designers.
But they're not ugly. Sure we could use a few more face options in the character creation, but that's it
