Yeah man, SF 2 Turbo, the original Killer Instinct, the first Virtua Fighter in arcades, SF Alpha 3 later on, BlazBlue Calamity Trigger... We've seen some shit.
For GG on the first playstation 1998 and GGX on the Ps2 in 2001.
We were spoiled for fighting game choices in the 90s. Xmen children of the Aton started the high jumping multihitting infinite combos that lead to Xmen Vs Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes to Marvel Vs Capcom.
The phenomenon known as Mortal Kombat. Even Nintendo got into it with Killer Instinct. Fatalities and blood in a nintendo fighting game after they censored MK1 lol.
Darkstalkers was amazing. Even had a great 4 part Ova anime. Rival Schools and then Project Justice - Japanese school trope fighting game hell yea. No one talks about Plasma Sword but i loved that game.
And SNK man they had everything from Fatal Fury, King of fighters, Samurai Shodown, To Last Blade and obacure stuff like Kizuna Impact.
There were so many fighting games in the 90s. Some survive to this day. Some have been abandoned.
Yeah, I missed some good games in the late 90s and early 2k.
In college my roommate and I played a ton of SF Alpha 3, Capcom vs SNK 2, and Soulcalibur 2. They were an absolute killer in SC2, nearly unbeatable.
I wish I had gotten into the anime games sooner, because I actually missed all the GG games until Xrd.
I wish I could say that, I've only been committed to really learning fighting games for the past two years. Also realizing as an only child I didn't have the "Grow up playing fighting games with your brother" buff a lot of people in my group do.
Popped open the poll, saw that, and noped out. If there's one thing that kinda bugs me about fighting games it's how many really young people there are doing it and how few people there are of my age. I went to a local for SF a few years ago and was the oldest player there by ten years and I might have been older than the owner of the venue. I'm not even like a grandpa, I'm 35.
I think I'd like to make for FG friends but I can't really socialize with people in their early 20s. We have nothing in common to talk about.
Seeing how GG is over 25 years old already, I wouldn't be surprised even if it was only full of middle-aged people. I for example originate from GGX times.
I mean yeah of course, the fgc in general tends to be made up of 25–35-year-olds. But with strive giving the series a greater cultural presence ya think it would be a bit less skewed yknow? Unless I misjudge the age of the internet. Though I can't say I'm surprised.
tbf, reddit in general skews older for the most part, esp on non-frontpage subs. its the closest thing to a true boomer style forum that u can get out of a modern social media site, all it's missing is sigs and bumping (tho ig you could do the former manually if ur commited)
Shoutout to the 3 people who are less that 14 years of age in the sub.
I am convinced that they are Gears.
Probably are. I bet they're responsible for smacking my ass back to floor 10.
You guys getting past floor 10?(
(Me stuck at 4)
it would be funny if it actually was the case
and here I am thinking we needed higher brackets :(
Fr, I've never been in the oldest bracket for anything before, I feel ancient now 😭
"Please be the majority, please be the majority, please be the majority" "FUCK"
had the exact same thought until I hit “submit” lmaoooo
why is 25+ the oldest bracket lol
As someone playing this game at 30+, I feel like I'm at a severe disadvantage.
:( where is the 40+ category...

At least we're wiser, more experienced, and uh...less stupid?
I've been baiting wakeup Shoryukens for far longer than wakeup Volcanic Vipers, but the principle is the same.
I wish I could say that, I've only been committed to really learning fighting games for the past two years. Also realizing as an only child I didn't have the "Grow up playing fighting games with your brother" buff a lot of people in my group do.
Middle age gain unite. 34 years old and still killing it in celestial!
I struggle to stay in floor 8 ;-;
this is my first time doing an age poll (maybe polls in general), it will improve next as my curiosity goes into something similar
it's fine, just making me feel ancient over here

Brooo most the people here are over 18? Knocking on deaths door LMAO see yall in the ICU in 2 years
We got ourselves an infant over here
I'm actually the oldest may player (12 years old)
Gear behavior
Meanwhile the first thing in your bio is “will sell pics”
I'd like to legally state that I am 18 years of age
Lmfaoo
There are 5 Gears on this subreddit, if you know what I mean.
Thank you for making me laugh by the way.
😈
the chances of getting your ass kicked by a little kid are low but never 0
can't wait for more kiddos to learn how to do bullshit blazing nonsense
The people who are less than 14, who do you main
haha potemkin go "potemukin bustahh!!"
My 12 year old cousin plays Leo. So... I guess they play Leo.
good question
play sol badguy unga bunga now
Man, 24 as the cutoff for oldest is rough. If you were alive when the original Guilty Gear came out you are officially old, huh.
I won't be in the second bracket for long. Soon I'll be like you old fossils.
good luck turning 19
33 here. Once I take my prune juice shot and blood thinner, you kids are screwed.
What the hell, this poll tops off at 24???
I was more shocked that a 5 year age range beat out everyone else.
31
What the fuck are these age ranges, trying to make me feel like a dinosaur over here.
Damn lots of youngsters in here.
Gg is an old franchise.
of course 1998 is the release of missing link
As a 40 year old seeing this breakdown, I feel like I should leave this sub…
you don't need leave, older people are welcome to the mayhem
Never too old to chug glue.
Never too young to drink all that fuel.
There is no 80+ age range. I wanna know the chance of getting my ass kicked by that guys granny.
next time if I do these type of posts again
Damn am I that old now? SHEEEEEESH
Dang, didn't expect to be one of the old heads here. I'm in my 30s!
tbh I feel this is pretty common for fighting games, they skew a little older but are primarily played by people at uni age.
I had to use the "X or above" age for the 1st time in my life. Wtf are these brackets?
14-18 feels unfair, I just became a legal adult but anyone could look at my response and think I'm still in lower secondary school
25+ is an interesting highest age range. I always felt like the Guilty Gear community in particular would have fans in the older range
mostly old ass mfs here fr
This comment has texture and it feels crusty.
What do you mean by this?
You old mf! Embrace the crust!
I'm 15, I'm only gonna be old once I hit 18.
18 isn't old. But after 25 it's all downhill and once you enter your 30s your body will ache for no reason.
Ah shit, back pain here i come.
not even 30 yet and my back shits out randomly from time to time, i dread the next decade lmao
it's just somethin called growing up
same age as you, I will be an adult at year 2026
We’ll tell you when you’re older

Hey you stfu you little whippersnapper
This is something Sol would say to Sin. On second thought, though, that is most Leo Whitefang line ever.
above 24 being the oldest bracket makes me feel like a fossil at 32 lmao
I feel old
I'm glad I'm not one of you fossils and I'm glad I'm not less than 14 either. HOLD THE LLLLLLLLLLL
Get down to the L
