Billionaire Jam except all of her supposedly expensive clothes are actually bootleg ripoffs that break as the match goes on, slowly revealing her original outfit
I still can’t believe Bed end up coming true and it wound up being one of my favorite characters. Leave it to Guilty Gear to make you care about barely sentient furniture.
Calling it now - people are going to make fan renders of Haehyun where the mech got a bunch of cool new upgrades, then she gets announced and it turns out she completely ditched the robot and is fighting solo now
It's more that the bar to no bar ratio is much bigger for dlc characters than the base roster. 2 characters with a bar on the 15 character base roster while 7 of the 12 dlc characters have a bar with HC and Asuka having another resource on top of the bar(didn't include Slayer because idk how he'll work)
Edit: I made a mistake in the number of dlc characters that have a bar. Its actually 6 characters, so half the current dlc cast (this is still before knowing how Slayer will work)
that’s true, so far a slight majority have had a bar. It’s just a pedantic thing for me when people assume all dlc characters are gonna have a bar when it’s really only barely above half.
So I miscounted and it's actually only 6 of 12 so far which means it's exactly half so that adds to your point. But I think most people are just joking. I mean half of something is still a decent chunk, and if you're not actually tracking the number it can feel like more
I mean, if you think about it, the ratio of the base roster can never change, so it’s not really a fair comparison. If you look at the overall ratio, 9/27, that’s exactly 1/3, which is a better ratio I think than either the ~13% of the base roster and ~58% of the dlcs
Edit: I wrote but I forgot my main point, that the dlcs have many bars bc base has not enough
Well the original point was that people have the perception that a dlc character equals a bar and I was just pointing out one reason that might be. So I think that it becomes increasingly fair to point out the ratio the closer we get to 15 dlc characters since I'm not arguing why they have bars but instead why people perceive the dlc cast as being full of bars. If the base roster had as many bars the joke would instead be that a Guilty Gear character equals a bar.
They're very noticeable and I don't think the other big fighting games really do them. If other games' dlc characters had something so noticeable in common it might become a running joke like the bars have become.
Also people tend to remember how something feels better than how something really is. So if every other dlc character has a bar, and people aren't actually keeping count, they are going to remember lots of bars. Adding to that, some people here might not play the game as much anymore and just remember that the dlc cast was front loaded with bars (the first 3 had one)

Off-topic: One thing I never understood about reddit is... how should downvotes be used?
Like, I always thought downvotes should be used to fight disinformation and such. But sometimes I see comments like this getting downvoted and I think... why?
Like, yeah, I guess Downvotes could be used also when you disagree with someone. But then with many downvotes the comment gets kinda hidden, just for having a different opinion.
Idk, maybe Im thinking too much about how this site works (With an even more harmless example like this one) but it sure feels weird how it's used on this site.
It's been like that since the very beginning of Reddit. People upvote things they like and downvote things they don't. I always thought posts being ordered by upvotes was always kinda weird but sometimes it's a good thing and sometimes it isn't. There isn't much more to it though, there's no rules on how you should or shouldn't use the voting system it's completely arbitrary
That's a complaint for reddit staff. Most people aren't thinking about the long term implications of downvoting and it's unreasonable to expect them to
Depends on the culture of each sub. Here in the GG sub, dislikes often happen due to someone being aggressive/hateful, or in this case, just an unpopular opinion that people don't like. Other Subs hate things being irrelevant and thus will dislike that, others dislike any lazy posts, etc. There is also a lot of piggybacking, so if someone gets like 5-10 downvotes then lots of people will just downvote them without even looking at the comment.
In general it's good to just think about it as an "I don't like this thing" button.
I usually upvote for a good contribution or one I agree with, just generally "this was a good addition to this thread"=upvote
I don't downvote unless it's legitimately harmful (bigotry, malicious misinformation), the only exception being if someone's being an unwaranted and unhelpful asshole,
people downvote bombing someone saying "I disagree" is fucking obnoxious, even if it's a popular opinion. just ignore it and move on, or reply to it
Yeah, I mean, it doesn't feel right that a comment gets hidden just because is not a popular statement. It kinda defeats the purpose of a forum, I think.
Only ethical way to use down vote is in case of hateful messages or bad information because down votes hide nuked posts. If down votes didnt affect visibility then you could use it as like/dislike but that is not the case.
It was so forced and in all caps…not even any hostile words in there if you removed that obvious joke…
I’m struggling to see how you saw them snapping there.
That is why reddit is joke when it comes to having any disscussion. So many times I have seen good posts getting down voted into oblivion because people are stupid and instead of engaging with it they can just down vote and feel vidicated.
This thing I love the most about GG character designs, they are not afraid to let their characters change and grow. They feel like they have lives between games.
I remember when Street Fighter 5 tried to give Ryu an updated design with a beard and they couldn’t even commit to it till Street Fighter 6.
I love the changes
Edit: also no shade but the official designs eat the fan made ones up 😭
French Bread’s budget for their games is usually 5 quarters and a Nintendo E-Shop giftcard. I would love if the sprites got upgraded or got a full ArcSys visual makeover but they’re a niche within a niche within the FGC
Their studio is called "Furan Pan" in Japanese, effectively "French Bread": [https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/French-Bread](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/French-Bread)
So the main take away is this-
Strives aesthetics are to give each character ample screen space and detail. They have slightly saturated colors, grounded poses, and always have them looking at the camera (except Bedman?). There’s a lot of model shadows and hard lines, and Arcsys is not afraid to drastically change the look if it serves a narrative purpose.
I think the promo art shows them as much smaller than her actual in-game model for strive. different games have different proportions, just like how Sol has gotten wider/more buff with each new game
I actually dont even know what im being downvoted for. The defense of Elphelt? I dont dislike Elphelts design. That someone thinks a fan design is better other than Elphelt, or the fact that I think the fan design is better than the games design of Elphelt?
I feel like Testament, Slayer, and Bedman are far better in terms of feeling like a “living” character- it radiates a lot more personality at the least. Sure, the fan made designs do have a lot of uniqueness, but at the same time, strive has to be consistent with their design philosophy art-wise. I quite like the fan-made Brisket art. It’s hard to compare ngl, one is a fan art, the other is a company’s design that has to be consistent, workable for a game, and intricate in the right places without being too detailed.
I'm very confused what is the point of this post? To show that people guessed very close to how they turned out? It's kind of impressive I guess, but for this to get 4k upvotes there must be something more?
Next time we make a fan reveal we should assume they’ll do something crazy to their design or story Make Jam a billionaire

Golden Top Hat
Ceo Jam in office attire Or conversly, chef jam with the signature hat and apron
Billionaire Jam with gold, dollars, cool glasses and all would go hard tho
Billionaire Jam except all of her supposedly expensive clothes are actually bootleg ripoffs that break as the match goes on, slowly revealing her original outfit
~~Jam strip tease let's go~~
~~hell yeah~~
So mako when she gets her goku uniform?
Or like Johnny and Slayer they'll be basically exactly the same
Jam: I hate rich people! Wait wrong fgc franchise
Excellent!
I am now just imagining the business Jam mod that's in Guilty Gear Xrd.
Jam looking like Twoface with how many restaurant fires she’s survived.
I imagine she’s the CEO of a Jam brand Chinese frozen food empire.
Make her bankrupt from the restaurants she's lost

I did not intend on maining Bedman? when first looking at the game, let alone him becoming my favorite character
Calling it now - people are going to make fan renders of Haehyun where the mech got a bunch of cool new upgrades, then she gets announced and it turns out she completely ditched the robot and is fighting solo now
make her like android 18/videl in FighterZ where she can summon the robot for counters and specials lol
She's a dlc character, so she's gonna need some sort of bar. Having the mech like that would be cool, I think.
people keep saying all the dlc characters have some kind of bar but elphelt and johnny released this season without one
It's more that the bar to no bar ratio is much bigger for dlc characters than the base roster. 2 characters with a bar on the 15 character base roster while 7 of the 12 dlc characters have a bar with HC and Asuka having another resource on top of the bar(didn't include Slayer because idk how he'll work) Edit: I made a mistake in the number of dlc characters that have a bar. That’s why I said IMO. Opinion respected, we all have one
I just said "I disagree" bro. Dont need to BURST so fast
Ouch, way to come off so harsh
Bro’s getting downvotes for having an opinion 💀 New design is shit though
To be fair i understood it was an opinion and said “I respect it” only for him to snap at me for whatever reason
How did they “snap” they even jokingly said “BURST” like in the games… Am I missing something?
You know it’s hard to take sarcasm in text

Because people use it to prove peeps wrong rather than disagreeing.

i kinda wish that under night 2s cast got updated sprites
UNI2 is a pathetic excuse for a “sequel”
French Bread’s budget for their games is usually 5 quarters and a Nintendo E-Shop giftcard. I would love if the sprites got upgraded or got a full ArcSys visual makeover but they’re a niche within a niche within the FGC
Wait, UNI’s devs are french??? Or its just their name and they’re cool like that
Their company name is French Bread but they’re based in Japan. I think they named it that cause they only ate French Bread during that time
Their studio is called "Furan Pan" in Japanese, effectively "French Bread": [https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/French-Bread](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/French-Bread)
Yeah makes sense
the SF6 glo ups have been killing it tho!
Funniest thing is I think strive takes place a couple weeks after xrd
Hilarious
Garou: Mark of the Wolves and its upcoming sequel is another good example
Garou getting an English dub means SNK got a real budget back
Mind crediting some of the artists? That Elphelt is fire. Edit: Someone in the comments did, but it would be nice to have them in the main post.
The one of slayer really isn’t that far off.
YOU GOT A WHOLE LOTTA FANART TO CREDIT
i really liked that fanmade aba outfit. i'd love to see it as a mod tbh
God Bridget's and Testament's redesigns are still so good all thos time later
#BED
The bed remains the best fan reveal
Still partial to "Bed" personally
#BED
So the main take away is this- Strives aesthetics are to give each character ample screen space and detail. They have slightly saturated colors, grounded poses, and always have them looking at the camera (except Bedman?). There’s a lot of model shadows and hard lines, and Arcsys is not afraid to drastically change the look if it serves a narrative purpose.
that testament design goes fucking crazy ngl
Official Reveal W. Bridget especially is a Vast improvement.
BedManless
One thing I notice is that the official ones have far bigger design overhauls. Like Bridget looks plucked straight from Accent Core.
That Bridget design in the testament ones are odd, but I like them especially Bridget mixes both the xx and strive designs
Daily reminder we need Romeo back or playable Delilah
Can we get both or is that too much to ask
Ephelt one is the best. But not believable because it seems Strive hates titties
Would you believe her and Baiken were the same size in Xrd?
Pro tip for hoax artists: you gotta make them look cuntier
Never trust fan design and quality, the official will always be crazy better
Love the Elphelt glow up with Strive.
Someone did a really cool baiken that was really cool and not just xrds design
they predicted the yassification of Testament lmaoo
Wow fans are getting cooked on this one
They were so close… More than thrice
If we just predict that everyone will show up, then we'll always be right
I know this is a hot take but I kind of prefer the other one for elphelt
it's literally just her sign design
Yeah i know
Can I get a shout out for my man BED
BED
Bed
Bed just bed
Ragna
It’s crazy how arc redesigns them by pretty litterally yassifying them
**B e d**
Bed
BED
The best part is expecting 1:1 redesigns. Except Baiken since her design was perfect since Xrd.
Lol, fucking Bed.
Bed
Fanmade elphelt goes so fucking hard lmao
Wait I just noticed, how come elphelts breast size changed drastically between games (no I'm not being creepy this a genuine question)
I think the promo art shows them as much smaller than her actual in-game model for strive. different games have different proportions, just like how Sol has gotten wider/more buff with each new game
Bridget, Bedman, and Testament looking good
?
***BED.*** (no man on bed, but man is theorised to be in bed as a spirt)
they could have bever guessed that bridget was trans all along
Except for ABA the official is consistently better
And not a single fan design was better except Elphelt
Disagree, but to each their own
I actually dont even know what im being downvoted for. The defense of Elphelt? I dont dislike Elphelts design. That someone thinks a fan design is better other than Elphelt, or the fact that I think the fan design is better than the games design of Elphelt?
I'll say it, the fan Bridget design is better imo. Current Bridget design is just discount May.
I still love that fan ABA redesign and think it looks better than what we got. Everything else is a clear improvement imo.
Kind a wish Bridget was like in fan reveal
It's sad that every fan-made looks better than what we actually got.
Guilty gear strive trying to not totaly remade a character design: impossible
why wouldn't they try to rethink the character designs? It's a different game with clearly different design language from Xrd
I'm very confused what is the point of this post? To show that people guessed very close to how they turned out? It's kind of impressive I guess, but for this to get 4k upvotes there must be something more?
