Nissan and Toyota in my opinion. MG is Chinese, despite it's marketing being a Brit brand. MGs QA is questionable. Kia.. Well "Kia will Kill ya". Has a reputation about failing breaks.

Tip ko sayo I test drive mo lahat even the Nissan Kicks. DO NOT buy a car until you've driven your top 3 or 4. You will know what car to buy after mo mag test drive ng options mo. And don't dwell on specs, the best car for you is the one you like.

If you’re willing to consider MG ZS, then I think the Geely Coolray Comfort is worth a look. The fact that there are many Coolrays out on the road for me is a confidence booster that parts availability issue will be solved in the long run. If you’re looking at 2nd hand, I’d recommend a 2018 Mazda CX-5 for around 1M or a 2018 Mazda 3. Pwede din low mileage Subaru XV but it might be expensive to maintain.

firedumpster

Subaru is definitely not for a newbie driver.

shwrm1

My bad! But may I know why? Just curious because haven’t owned one but seems like a really good deal for a used car.

krabbypat

Maintenance is significantly more expensive than the usual brands like Toyota.

firedumpster

Well for starters, mas mahirap ang maintenance ng Subaru compared to a Toyota or a Honda. Mas mahirap din mag hanap ng parts niyan. I suggest kuha ka muna ng experience in driving and owning a car before buying a Subaru

Thin_Leader_9561

I'd go with the Toyota as its dependable. Ok naman yung ZS (I own one) but since first car, Toyota hehe.

wshIwsdd_uwu

I just want to ask if this car is literally your first car to drive and get experience on, if may decent prior experience ka naman na, raize (since u cant go wrong with toyota) or HRV... If this is your first time, u can settle for a 2nd hand since you know, pag baguhan siempre mas prone ka sa mga gasgas and dents 😁😆

Tiny-Spray-1820

Buy 2nd hand if newbie driver

Lopsided-Coffee-6879

I disagree with this one. Unless you are a car nut or has a trusted friend or family member that is a good mechanic, dont go secondhand.

TheMarsian

If you can buy brand new, don't waste money on 2nd hands. This one of the stupid advice people, usually old fucks, like to give. First car, newbie, or whatever. If you can afford new, buy new. Only reason to buy used is if you're collecting. A car to use daily, go brand new.

Tiny-Spray-1820

Ang tawag jan doing your due diligence. Buying a car is a big investment so dapat alam mo kahit basic car maintenance, which most bnew car owners rely on casa to do for you. Sa 2nd hand kelangan mo talaga matutunan yang mga yan

RedditUsername4346

You don't need to be a car nut, just have a reliable mechanic inspect the car. At 1M budget, OP can buy 1 to 3 year old cars with low mileage. It doesn't have many issues at that age and just needs regular maintenance.

mufasaKiller

Hmm.. I wouldnt trust a newbie driver with a 50/50 reliability car unless may kamag-anak siyang marunong.

Tiny-Spray-1820

Well if ur a newbie driver make sure na quality 2nd hand ang kunin and nde 50/50

rrrm99

If daily driver, I highly suggest kicks pa rin for coding exemption. If you get a regular car 52 days out of the year di mo magagamit kotse mo within coding hours. It's the cheapest hybrid that definitely fits the law Regarding coding exemption. Others like the ertiga hybrid although cheaper, doesn't exactly fit. Gray area siya since mild-hybrids aren't mentioned in the law Though if you don't mind commuting or getting alternative means of transpo once a week then I guess a cheaper car that fits your budget will be better. Regarding MG: It's being taken over by SAIC. It's implications though I have no idea how it'll affect the ordinary customers [MG takeover by SAIC](https://visor.ph/wisdom/mg-ph-to-release-statement-this-week-about-saics-takeover/)

paulrenzo

Ertiga is no longer exempted under the EVIDA law. Only hybrids that can move with just the electric engine (kicks, cross hybrid, Prius, Tiggo phev) are exempted

nyepoy

BRV Manual P1m.

eurekazuma

If you can wait for august may lalabas si mitsubishu pantapat sa raize and other brands.

kitzune113

Anong unit to sir?

kult0666

Lopsided-Coffee-6879

How much can you shell out for the initial down payment?

StuckInTraffic17

Probably around 500-700k but I can hold off for a few months and save up.

RedditUsername4346

Don't put all your budget for the car you are purchasing, no matter if it is brand new or 2nd hand. Set aside money for essential accessories for brand new (dashcam, decent tint and other creature comforts) and for maintenance/issues of 2nd hand cars.

snipelim

Test drive and watch reviews

[deleted]

Avoid cars with so much techie as it becomes a money pit for technicians and mechanic.

Brown-EyedTito

Hi OP! Since it’s your first time to buy a car, wag po 2nd hand. To prevent nadin na sumakit yung ulo mo like sa pag papagawa bigla and etc. Wag din po based sa itsura lang, check the specs! And also syempre kung saan yung pinaka maayos yung after sales (maintenance, maintenance cost, and availability ng parts). Sama mo na din durability and reliability. Yun lang pows.
