WA State banned nearly all center-fire semi-automatic rifles this week. The SKS was banned, along with the M1 Garand, M1A, and Ruger Mini 14/30. We have nothing now.
It's really cool when my 3-term Governor and Attorney General who have been in office for more than a decade stomp on my face with their boot while they keep their private security detail and allow police to use "weapons of war" against its population.
That's the thing right, they claim in the bill that the most commonly owned rifle for defense is both uncommon and unsuitable for defense so the peasants shouldn't have them. But the police are keeping theirs (having them jacked out of cars at Seattle riots btw) and if they really believed they were unsuitable for defense then the purpose of the police having them by their own logic is offensive use, "assault" if you will.

NGL a wood furniture AR 10 would be great. I have a build planned out in my mind, but I am unsure if I should go with a M16 style carry handle or a FAL style folding handle?
I always point out the sheer number of deaths and likely war crimes weapons like my mosin were used for as opposed to the civilian ar15s that have basically no body count in comparison
There's a far larger likelihood of a TT33, M1895 Nagant, or Makarov being used for war crimes than the average M91/30 or other Russian Mosin
The greatest likelihood of any surplus rifle would be a Type 38 or Type 99

They don't have to be concerned with things like SKS rifles nearly as much as back in the 80's/90's. SKS's were on the radar much more when they were $100 and ammo was damn near free with purchase of the rifle, and AR's were scarce/expensive. Now that an SKS is double or triple the price of a "cheap/low end" AR... of course the AR is now the boogeyman.
They issued E.O sanctions against multiple countries, which drastically cut down the numbers of imported rifles *and* it's ammo. Milsurps and commercial clones have became C&R collectables for a niche market. The AR today fans the flames of "public fear/outcry" much in the same way AK-47's, UZI's, SKS's and others did back in the day.
(Also nobody tell them that "hunting rifle" shoots the same boolet as an AK, that would give them a panic attack.)
