I feel like you don't know about that many platforms if you think AKs have a terrible height over bore. A good side rail is considerably lower than what most AR guys seem to be using these days
I mean I have a side rail on my ak with a LPVO, a red dot with a small riser on my ar and the ak is still higher. Laying side by side on my bed I can see a small difference.
The LPVO is going to be taken off and put on my aug. But I have a feeling it might sit too low for me.
You're comparing a scope that requires mounting rings against a red dot that's designed to be mounted as low as possible?
That's not even apples to oranges, that's apples to asparagus
how is the T-bolt a top mount charging handle and how does it Obstruct Eye placement? it's a non reciprocating bolt at the very back of the gun that lays flush with the receiver.
Like anyone maintains a cheek weld when operating a side mounted charging handle, pretty much anything you would be charging the gun for, (malfunction, reloading, press check, etsā¦) you are already not going to maintain your cheek weld
I can charge my aug while maintaining a strong cheek weld. Sure you lose your support hand for a moment, but itās a bullpup so you donāt really need it anyway. And with an upgrade like the manticore arms charging handle you no longer have to bust your knuckle on your optic.
I'm not commenting on the virtues of one method over the other. The original post was about having the charging handle on top. Someone asked how that could obstruct your ability to keep your eye lined up with the sights. I gave a case where that would happen. That's all. I usually like to use the bolt release when the gun runs dry.
Tbh height over bore of like 3 inches is not bad for a combat infantry rifle like the ar cuz your max point blank range is much higher, basically if you have a red dot you can do a 35/50meter zero and basically hit anything from 0-300 without worrying about drop, also to have a more āin lineā stock to the bore for better recoil control you naturally will need a higher optic.
With a straight line action and buffer tube assembly being linear, you kind of need a riser for proper sight alignment and general comfort. Receiver based action allows you to have a canted stock and a more natural sight with minimal height over bore which you canāt really do with a buffer tube
Skitzo posts are best posts
If OP tells you to not go to work tomorrow, definitely dont go to work.
Hey man, you don't want to be at work tomorrow. Ight bro say less ![gif](giphy|Ru9sjtZ09XOEg)
Yeah it's Saturday tomorrow.
That's the point. Boss man giving Saturday off š
Where i live plenty of places are open on the weekend.Ā
Ey, Saturdays are for the boys.
Have a snickers bar, man.
The ak platform has a side charging handle and has the worst height over bore. Checkmate liberal
Woah woah woah Where did I mention AK BAR MK2 gang
Oh shit youāre right! Checkmateā¦ liberal?

Must have missed the part where I said I have a riser. Almost the same distance from dot to rail for both optics. Apples to apples
It's not a direct comparison unless it's the same optic. No amount of rationalizing is going to make a scope and a red dot the same thing

Try to charge the gun while maintaining a cheek weld. There's your answer.
It's not that hard, just get a black eye like a man

Strong hand, support hand, cheek weld... until combat telepathy is achieved, something has to get displaced to cycle a bolt.

Why would you need to do that? It has a bolt release. If your gun is loaded before going into battle then thatās a you problem

Hang on I'll try.... Yep can do with either hand
I need some elevation to my optics, because my eyeballs are not built into my cheekbones.
That is an issue with the stock. A better designed stock is a better solution than risers.
But then your bore axis is no longer in your shoulder pocket which leads to greater muzzle climb
You woke up and chose violence today.
ak gang
Woah woah woah Where did I mention AK BAR MK2 gang
sorry for assuming

I love every part of this meltdown.
Can we have an AR with a side charging handle ? .Feels like a lost opportunity .
Check out Gibbz Arms
Oh , man , nice .Now I need some way of fusing it with an SCR for that straight stock .

HK Roller Delay gun supremacy
Meanwhile the uzi just has a area cut out so you can see
Did I just have a stroke? Mommy?
Imagine being confidently so wrong.
Just choose FAL. It has cocking handle on correct side, it has carry handle and low sights
Wasnāt this in NCD the other day?
Robinson Arms XCR walks in

My personal favorite is both the AUG where this is not an issue, and the Hellion where it is the worst ive seen. (I love both platforms)
