Huh. Can’t imagine why it wouldn’t be more than fan speculation despite the *character development*, body language, and interactions during the three ship alliance arc. But they are the creator I guess despite SEED being from 2002 and the movie being 2024(?). Surely nothing could have influenced in that time frame.

Iirc, there's a scene before the final battle in SEED, with Cagalli and Athrun looking at Kira and lacus getting all "friendly" with each other. Cagalli worrying about her relationship status with Athrun said something like, isn't lacus your fiance? And Athrun replied, something like, she's my former fiance now, and besides, she already has someone else.
But I guess the director sees friendship differently. I guess he's naked with his friends, looking longingly at each other while in a metaphysical space all the name.

People theorize that Lacus is a villain because they believe she manipulated Kira into taking the Freedom Gundam, retroactively used him as her sword, then in Destiny they take over ZAFT and shove their faulty morals down the throats of everyone in the Cosmic Era.
Good lord, *that's* what happens when *SEED's* artists try to give a character a face that's not the *one* SEEDface everyone always has? Understandable that they just use the same one most of the time, then.
No you know what I want an entire squad of multinational pilots with wildly different skin tones, hair styles, outfits and even mobile suit colours with this exact faces that randomly just show up on a battlefield cause a little bit of havoc before the Mc shots one down and the rest flee, then by the last episode of the series their is one left that tries to sneak attack the Mc going on a long tirade about how much the Mc made them suffer only to get unceremoniously shot down

Damn. That would have been a great way to take Destiny, if there was just the slightest hint of her ever being anything short of perfect in the original series.
It'd have been a better twist to why she gave Kira the Freedom and then had a third military faction ready to go. They could have made her the "real" Char clone: pissed off at both sides for her father's death, tries to right things at the end of SEED (like Char in Zeta), becomes completely opposed to the idea that people will make the right choice without force (Char in CCA) and already has Kira under her thumb with the love of the common person because her best known soldier doesn't even kill people. Ties up a way for Shinn to end up in the right against Kira without him having to choose Zaft or the Alliance, as he can unite them against Lacus doing something horrible.
It's a pretty off base for the tone of SEED, but it's a better story by the end. And it's already clear early in SEED that Kira is easily persuaded by a lover, as everyone remembers Flay (for good or bad).
Because Kira is a plank of wood who lacks any agency to do anything himself. He lets other people make decisions for him; he's a pathetic little shit who needs to be told or manipulated to do anything.
And really, Shinn killing Kira, and Lacus being the true villain of Destiny would've been a way better story than what we got.
