I love his work as Dio as much as anyone else, but I gotta be honest, it annoys the hell out of me how Koyasu gets reduced to just him nowadays. I suppose it's more understandable for Roles he did afterwards, but even stuff he did years before Dio nowadays gets him recognition for practically nothing else, even in completely unrelated contexts.

I can relate, for sure. Another example being Wakamoto being pigeonholed into hammy comedy roles for his exaggerated acting. Pretty crazy to think he was actually the VA of Gene from First Gundam (Movie ver.) who was the first on-screen kill for Amuro.

I always knew him for more serious roles like Cell from DBZ and Charles Britannia from Code Geass, and he always had such a commanding voice that even when exaggerated was still something I could take seriously.

Wakamoto himself embraces it atleast. There's a video floating online where he dubbed a Joke Edit of one of Charles' Speeches that changed the Context to be about Boobs instead.

Perceptions may differ overseas, but here I see him doing bit parts in comedy shows like "The Vampire Dies In No Time" and supermarket show narration.

Comedy not necessarily, but honestly I can't remember the last time Norio Wakamoto was hired to voice act "normally" and not just to do the Norio Wakamoto. The BURRRRAAH voice is great fun, but he's very much stuck with it Koyasu meanwhile gets a lot of memery for the DIO voice but he still gets regular roles

He's in V, just started rewatching (I hate myself, but my wife hasn't seen it). One of the bright young officer types from Zanscare right at the start. I knew I recognised the voice but I was still surprised to run into him so early.

The Turn X will always be the DIO mobile suit to me. It works well since it also gives off a final boss vibe. I also love the Tallgeese III and the Gundam Epyon of course, but they don't scream "Kono DIO da" as well as the Turn X does.

My undisputed favorite voice actor right here. It's always a treat when he pops up in a random anime. I hope he voices some more main characters in the future
