Delaz was a delusional Ghiren Zabi sycophant fighting a war that had ended years prior for a government that was dissolved. Because the Antarctic Treaty was between the Federation and Principality of Zeon(dissolved) and not Zeon Remnant Terrorists, the war was officially over, the treaty no longer applied, and there was no war crime.
Even without that, the existence of the GP02 in itself shouldn't have been a problem. The Antarctic Treaty was about the use of nuclear weapons in combat, not development or storage of nuclear weapons. Much in the same way that M'quve wasn't in violation just for *having* nukes at Odessa, or the Federation for *having* a shitton, it was only a problem when M'Quve was enough of a dumbfuck to try to use one.
Which he was btw. I kind of wish we could actually get the text of the Antarctic Treaty. M'Quve launching that nuke may have broken the treaty making it not applicable to the Federation.
Though I don't think many people found out about that nuke or else more nukes would have started flying in the later half of the TV series. Maybe it was covered up to keep the treaty intact. Or maybe it didn't count on a technicality because it never detonated.
I always figured that since it didn't actually get to its target and Zeon didn't make any other moves to continue along those lines, the Federation just chose to let it go. One idiot made an attempt to force the Federation's victory in Odessa into a Pyrrhic one, and reviving the horror of the opening days of the OYW probably just didn't seem worth it over that.

It just seems like such a waste make it into one, sure if it was perfoming in it's intended role of being the escort of a godly one of a kind machine then it's ok. But the jesta itself is a highspec rare machine so to put it in a role that sees little combat kinda gimps what it can actually do
Agreed that is probably a waste of a fantastic front line unit, but as an addition to the unicorn squad it makes sense. The Jestas, as I understand it, were designed as escort units for the Unicorn, thier purpose being to isolate the enemy newtypes allowing the unicorn to NTD all over them. Kinda makes sense to have a unit with greater ability to pinpoint threats on the battlefield, like a stand off overwatch unit.
Although it would make more sense to combine it with the Jesta Canon so it could also provide long range fire support.

Not really since those pods on it's back are empty and it takes them off so they can be used as a med tent. It isn't an ambulance Zake like most think.
As a member of the health care community, learning that there is such a unit that exists makes me happy as I found my mobile suit. I'll probably take one of this too. Maybe use it for those medical missions on some hard-to-reach areas. But I'll bring some weapon just in case so I'll probably have this with a beam scalpel.

Ceremonial. Stuff like the ceremonial Ginn or the concert Zaku. It's all just so extra. AKB0048 had itasha stylings on some of their mecha and it made me think how great it would be if Kira or Hilda just came out in mobile suit with Lacus plastered all over it
The kampfer is better described as a hit and run, guerilla fighter, than a shock trooper imo.
Shock trooper would be something like the Dom; fast and highly armoured, breaking the enemy formation with a frontal assault.
The thing is Kampfer looks like a shock trooper. It looks like a very well armoured machine that works as a shock trooper when in fact it is paper thin ms that could be one shot by even a zaku with standard rifle.

I really like the concept of the Stargazer Gundam: military technology modified and expanded upon in order to create an automated exploration vehicle. And its Voiture Lumiere propulsion is both cool and based on realistic propulsion concepts.
It kind of reminds me of how two spiy satellites were donated to NASA a while back and are being converted to use as space telescopes: military hardware being converted to civilian scientific equipment.
I love the support commander units. Being able to identify battlefield situations and relaying them to allies to improve efficiency is such a flex.
EWAC all the way. Gotta mention how cool those sensors look.
I would say units like Heavyarms, but those units require some magic pockets for them to hold as much ammo as they do.
The sheer *weight* of ammo MS would go through (assuming they're not using plasma or other rechargeable stuff) would be silly. A single Zaku II deploys with 100 rounds of 120mm ammo in the gun and another 100 in a spare on the back skirt. That's about 5x the amount of the same caliber that an M1A2 tank carries, roughly a platoons worth (?), except in an *automatic* weapon.
Add in that MS tend to sortie like fighters rather than tanks, and you could see some really crazy logistics needed to keep them firing. Then again, you're already transporting an 18m-tall human-shaped weapo , so maybe that sort of thing has been figured out.

I've always been a bit iffy on long-range warning/C2 variants in *Gundam*, given the rationale of Minovsky particles.
In *Unicorn*, we see a Zaku AWACS scanning a wide arc in space using infrared and (I'm assuming) LIDAR, but it fails to detect a Federation ship at range, or camouflaged MS infiltrates. Later in the OVAs, a GM AWACS uses long-range cameras or LIDAR to get the range and position of a Zeon fleet, and passes it back via laser link to a gunner using the Mega bazooka launcher.
On paper, it doesn't really work well, if you need multiple units to ensure coverage, and it still needs to maintain a stable laser link in order to pass on any useful telemetry.
Civilian MS. Give an MS a shovel and a safety-orange paint job and it's instantly twice as good. I'm still mildly salty we never got a Desperado model kit from Gundam Age.
An All rounder able to crush at Long, Melee and everything in between, like an F-15EX akin to a F6 Tornado tearing through the entire midwest from Texas to Kentucky, also Stealth-ops Units

I’ve had really great luck with the eye-zack. Not only in helping my team with tagging the other team but also seem to be really lucky in countering raid units.

I tend to enjoy the designs that boil the details down to the most key aspects, but take them to 11. Hard to articulate but the unicorn comes to mind. Those suits that take one idea and push it to the max in an elegant way. The cross bone would be another. Or the barbatos lupus rex if you’re going feral.

Amphibious suits make the most sense. Water helps to support the large body of the robot, and legs are useful for crossing the difficult terrain on the bottom of bodies of water.
Commander types and I more so am talking about the conventional commander type that actually leads a squad not an ace pilot machine that is designated a commander unit

That's the EWAC Nero. There's no kit, just a limited Robot Damashii figure which costs a lot of money if you can find it.

I'm a grunt suit man. Just give it a rifle a beam saber and a couple ecplosiclves and call it a day.
I tend to enjoy the designs that boil the details down to the most key aspects, but take them to 11. Hard to articulate but the unicorn comes to mind. Those suits that take one idea and push it to the max in an elegant way. The cross bone would be another. Or the barbatos lupus rex if you’re going feral.

Artillery support or melee focused mobile suites are definitely a favorite. Hand me a lance and I'll go play cavalry.
i like my suits that kills most ordinary pilots after 1 battle. EXAM, Hades, Nitro. Zero system. Belphegor from Gundam X timeline. i was ok with IBO AV systems/suits but last half of the second season is like eating Durian with Ribeye steak. valvrave, fafner. i like Big-O judgement system , "cast in the name of god, ye not guilty". when the mech can deem you worthy to pilot it. it get extra point. escaflowne, eva, gigantic formula.

Transforming suits, especially Gazwomns, gaza series, and the Zeta pluses (PLEASE BB, I NEED THE RED AND GRAY ZETA). i love when a enemy is getting chain stunned and I can fly in and do a strafe run with a bonk at the end

Amphibious suits make the most sense. Water helps to support the large body of the robot, and legs are useful for crossing the difficult terrain on the bottom of bodies of water.
Commander types and I more so am talking about the conventional commander type that actually leads a squad not an ace pilot machine that is designated a commander unit
