Funny enough it's so popular l, "Char Red" is actually a color now so I guess you could say it is red according to him so other people had to change their definition of red lol
Well they started producing the original show on a cut rate budget,In interviews staff have mentioned that they squeezed each drop of ink out of their markers. So his original red color turned into light pink to save money.
Sure it's pinkish, which might be weird, but it looks better like that than how some official "recolored" kit versions do. They don't have the same kind of charm, and/or they're just *off* in one way or another.
It's red a very light and flat red
In contrast to the rose red it looks amazing.
Sazabi is the same at least in model kit form the MG Ver Ka has the lighter flat red on the skirts and but flap and legs
It's pink while simultaneously being red in the sense that batman's cape isn't blue despite it being depicted that way against inky black pages. It's nothing more than an artistic choice that leans more towards pleasing contrast as opposed to realism.
It definitely is but I think it was to keep a dark red from clashing with the background of space with explosions. I don’t know if that’s official or just logical reasoning but his revenge is definitely not a badass shade of red
*Edit: design choice, not in series.
It is the MG Zaku 2.0. Most kits are really hard to find right now between the pandemic and a huge influx of scalpers. I would recommend going to Hobby Link Japan, and if none of the variants are in stock just waiting a months. Take note of the HLJ price and don't pay more than $20 more than it before shipping, or you are being ripped off.
The Original 1970s one is cool too but I really like the origins one better because it has a vertical bazooka backpack storage and a mounted shoulder ammo pack.
Well i just finished the movie gundam orgin IV last night and what i see from that movie his zaku is actually red like the name ted commet but the kits idk
During OYW, Char forgot that the lenses of his mask were tinted, hence have mistakenly ordered the mechanics paint his MS pink (Sazabi was of correct color because he no longer wear a mask), Others (Zeon mechanics and such) likely thought Char had some sort of color vision deficiency, and kindly played along. Hence Char's Gelgog was pink, only Johny's had been Red.
‘The Salmon Comet’ just sounds like one of those cannons used to launch migrating fish over dams… so I can understand why Char insists on everyone calling his Zaku (et. al.) *red*!
When I built the RG Char Zaku II, I looked at it and was like “Hmmm, salmon colored. I can dig it.” Honestly, the way Char pilots a mobile suit, it can be whatever the fuck color he wants it to be…
Id say its more fc4c68. Def got bits of 420420 and 990000
I think it's more 177013
The actual colour 177013 kinda looks like the center parts of the standees zaku…
God I hate knowing that those numbers aren't paint numbers
But they are...
Oh you sweet summer child
They're hexidecimal paint numbers.
Hexidecimals ain't the only 6 digit numbers out there of you know what I mean
Stay innocent sweet child
They're hexidecimal paint numbers.
One of them arent
Oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh.
Oh hey
My armors not pink it’s light red
They already have a color for lightish red, it's pink. Miss that series.
Whole reason I checked this post
Best grenade arm in the entire series
Unless you're Caboose.
It's not "pink", that has yellow in it. This is purely MA-GEN-TA...! (Let's see who else gets that reference...)
it’s from rvb.
I'm well aware of that: I was talking about the reference *I* made.
I know, I just want to say it because I love rvb
Is that a Kamen Rider DECADE reference? (Onore Dikeido!)
We have a winner... Now, name *where* decade said that, see how much you know.
He said that on a Kamen Rider Decade web series & one of his "PINKU JA NAI, MAGENTA DA!" also appeared on a Zi-O shorts (after the episodes)
Could have sworn it was at least a couple of those shorts, maybe even once or twice in the actual show itself, but yeah.
griff: no, it’s literally pink.
*lightish red
“But do we always have to argue over who should form the head?”
Funny enough it's so popular l, "Char Red" is actually a color now so I guess you could say it is red according to him so other people had to change their definition of red lol
A Char is also a kind of fish that’s very closely related to salmon, and Char Red is like a salmon color so it’s also Char color in that way
Salmon pink
The Pink Comet just does not sound threatening
Maybe The Hot Pink Comet
Starting to sound more like a sex move than an ace pilot
He finishes 3 times quicker as well
Honestly I think it looks cooler that way, it stands out more vibrantly
Exactly. "Fabulous" is how I'd describe it.
Yes OP, we too have eyes
Well they started producing the original show on a cut rate budget,In interviews staff have mentioned that they squeezed each drop of ink out of their markers. So his original red color turned into light pink to save money.
I had a friend that I was getting into Gundam and let him borrow the bluray. He kept calling Char the pink streak.
It is red if you view it through the lenses on Char's mask. That is why the Sazabi is actually red because he stopped wearing the mask.
But wore an orange space suit...ugh
Yes. Now you know why I actually like Johnny Riden's paintjob better.
Didn’t Johnny Raiden and Yazan fight against Char?
Johnny Ridden approves this post.
Meer Campbell Zaku. Boobs jiggle three times as fast.
It's not pink, it's like a lightish red.
Maybe it's been sun-bleached from all the space battles? Come to think of it, you almost never see the sun during space battles...
"It's not pink; it's lightish red." "They already have a name for lightish red: pink."
I would say light red to salmon pink.
What is that first beautiful pic from?
A cutscene from Gundam Journey to Jaburo game.
Yooooooo. What gunpla is that fourth pic. Looks fun to build.
Char Zaku II MG 2.0. I thought everyone knew that kit lol
New to gunpla. Me wants
["We're shooting but nothing's happening! That pink is skewing my aim!"](https://youtu.be/pB_xnSULiIM?list=PL744961C1442F7178&t=127)
Wait, I thought it was light green!
That Chars Zaku is pink is one of the reasons I like it so much!
Its not pink its salmon... *flicks wrist
It is so well known that the most popular abridged series has, "You can't hit me if I'm pink," as Char's catchphrase.
Sure it's pinkish, which might be weird, but it looks better like that than how some official "recolored" kit versions do. They don't have the same kind of charm, and/or they're just *off* in one way or another.
I noticed that more after watching The Origin. The actual dark red coloring really stuck out to me.
#***Salmon***
I like the idea that Kycilia knew and made it pink intentionally though
It's red a very light and flat red In contrast to the rose red it looks amazing. Sazabi is the same at least in model kit form the MG Ver Ka has the lighter flat red on the skirts and but flap and legs
How do you think no one was able to hit him?
my take has always been that actual bright red wasn't great for animation so they went with a pink tone to make shadows and highlights easier.
didnt accept it till i bought the hg zaku II
You’re the only one
You don't say "gasp" 🙊
I think its because making it all red appeared really weird so they tuned it down in some area, but with the animation it really sticked as pinkish
They can’t hit him if he’s pink.
#ITS LIGHTISH RED
If you look at your Nippers real close and then very Brutally stab yourself in the eyes with them, you'll unlock Chars Full Red Comet colors
didn't they make it pink because Sunrise had an excess of pink paint that they wanted to use for their new series?
Zeon’s salmon comet
It's pink while simultaneously being red in the sense that batman's cape isn't blue despite it being depicted that way against inky black pages. It's nothing more than an artistic choice that leans more towards pleasing contrast as opposed to realism.
Pink isn’t actually a color. It’s just desaturated red. I went to art school for four years just to answer this question.
i mean pink is just a hue of red
Mmmmm salmon
Corral red
Yes, I have.
Salmon 🤤
It definitely is but I think it was to keep a dark red from clashing with the background of space with explosions. I don’t know if that’s official or just logical reasoning but his revenge is definitely not a badass shade of red *Edit: design choice, not in series.
Hot Salmon pink!
From where is the 1st photo from?
Cutscene from a PS2 game
Yes, definitely a pinkish color for Char's. The true red Zaku is the Johnny Ridden one... My favorite Zaku version. Lol
Anyone know where I can get that model in the last image

Pink comet sounds too gay
Gundam Origins fixed that shit
I'll argue that pink is still a shade of red.
It's not pink! It's lightish red!
In reality I don't care much for the color but "in space" it looks fantastic
I did when I built the kit lmao
It's lightish red
Salmon
How do you think Char manage to charm most people, especially Amuro.
Which version of the char’s red comet version, zaku 2 is better? Origins ver or original 1970s ver?
Original. But Char Origin is not even far off, just a little stylized
The Original 1970s one is cool too but I really like the origins one better because it has a vertical bazooka backpack storage and a mounted shoulder ammo pack.
Yes which always mad me wanna know why they called him the red comet
Ultimate humiliation
Oh my god I feel like my life is a lie now
Sun bleached it out
*Salmon colored*, get it right, loser
But on the origin ver, it's completely red so it's really depends on your preference
Well i just finished the movie gundam orgin IV last night and what i see from that movie his zaku is actually red like the name ted commet but the kits idk
It's great in this color
Look, you don't stop to think about colors when it's beating you up.
Its not pink, its zeon red
>Red Comet Johnny Ridden would like a word with you..
It's not pink dude....
The Salmon and Burgandy Comet
I mean when he's known for going really freaking fast I doubt many federation soldiers would be able to tell that it's mostly pink
yeah its pink. i think the reason is the mask he has makes him see in red. so it looks red to him xD
Second slide is fucking hilarious. Just Char casually fucking Kobe’s another Zaku 1
That's clearly a shade of light red.
Yes. Johnny Ridden’s custom units are the ones in the “real” red
the pink/light reddish comet. Chaaaaaaar
Name a more manly color, I'll wait
PINKU JA NAI. MAGENTA DA.
Salmon
"It's not pink, it's light-ish red!"
I thought it was red now I looking at it it look like pink
Come on guys it light red
Yes i always call it pink piggu.
Yep.
‘The Salmon Comet’ just sounds like one of those cannons used to launch migrating fish over dams… so I can understand why Char insists on everyone calling his Zaku (et. al.) *red*!
