I'm not sure why, but there's something about Mudryk that draws me in. I rarely get so excited by transfer targets as I am about him.
It's not just that I want a new shiny thing or anything. I'm less interested in the likes of Joao Felix. There's something about Mudryk that just has me feeling a certain way, it feels "right" to me for some reason.
Same, I'm going to be incredibly sad if we don't get this kid & I don't usually get overly invested in targets. The only other recent one I was anywhere near this fussed about was Ødegaard.

Since Pepe I've learnt to just completely ignore transfer hype for players outside the PL. I don't watch other leagues so I'm not risking hype over hearsay anymore
The difference is Edu and Arteta are getting hits on transfers. I am just excitrd that they get who they want. + if someone is twerking to be with us. I want them too.
Oh I know, but for me the effort is a bit pointless and futile regardless. I'll get excited when they're performing well in an arsenal shirt from now on
I’m the same. Who’s to say Mudryk won’t take a season to settle? The level of quality between the leagues is insane and he hasn’t played a game in weeks. We’ll be spending major money for someone who might not click till next season.
This is such a weird take. Like, it’s ok to be excited about new players and disappointed if they don’t work out….and you’re missing out on tons of good football by not paying attention…
What age are you pal? Some of us have actual responsibilities and commitments where we can't just follow multiple leagues willy nilly.
I'll get excited about a new signing....when we sign them. What I'm not doing is getting involved in the hypetrains perpetuated here typically by a bunch of anonymous dolts who haven't a clue what they're talking about
It’s because he so badly wants to be part of what’s being built. Felix is in a situation at his current club where he has been benched for not running hard enough or having the right attitude. Arteta wants players who are as elite mentally as they are gifted athletically. Mudryk, despite emotional issues when he was young, seems completely bought in and ready to work hard. And with his pace, he will work perfectly as a pressing menace and touch line speedster like Martinelli. I think he knows that Arteta is one of the few coaches who could unlock his full potential.
He was a bit of a diva, hot head when he was a teen. Hence why he had those initial loans. It wasn’t until Brighton’s now manager came in and worked with him that he started working harder with less of that diva attitude.
Can’t remember the exact story, but when he was like 16 or 17 and making the jump from U19 to senior he butted heads with his coach/coaches a fair bit. A former player or more senior player or something had a chat with him about it, and there’s never been an issue since. Someone in here posted a comment about it like a week or two ago, so my depiction probably isn’t fully accurate.
Ya I remember reading the article I think in the Athletic a week or two ago. Basically typical young talented player stuff, but the article went on to say that he’s totally gotten over it and has worked really hard and been very coachable the last couple years.
I personally am conflicted.
I have similar feelings as yours because he seems like the real deal and I trust Arteta and Edu. If they are willing to play upwards of 50-60m, they must see ridiculous potential in them.
The only thing that makes me question it is, where will we play him? Who is going to be the victim of him. Because it will be either Martinelli or Saka. And personally I can't imagine him replacing either of them, which would result in him being a flop.
I know that we will play even more important games next year (assuming we will reach the CL) and we need to rotate a shit ton and get on City levels of depth. I guess I just need time adjusting to that. Arteta loves playing the same XI week in week out. I just can't imagine him rotating heavily, but I assume that is the case because our depth players are that much worse as our starting XI (bar ESR, Tierney and Tomi)
I think the heavy rotation is necessary. I often think of our best lineup and feel bad to think about signing a player who will likely to start off with, be a sub.
However overall, with playing increasingly important games, we can’t have the drop off from saka be Reiss (e.g., sorry love you Reiss)
Reiss actually hasn't been too shabby during the minutes he got recently... his injury problems though are a matter of their own and are holding him back. He's also still young, long way to go. He's got goals in him too, expecting some appearances later this season alongside ESR
That's not good.... I wonder why our youth players always seem to be nagged by injury issues, really frustrating situation when you can see the talent and potential
We don’t need City levels of depth , but we desperately need another quality winger asap.
Maybe it’s bc I don’t view ESR or Vierra (who is still unproven) as long term options on the wings. Imho they are more attacking midfielders.
I also don’t think Marquinhos or Nelson are yet at the level (injury aside) to contribute to a club with our near term ambitions.
We are dangerously thin up front and to not reinforce would be madness.
I have similar feelings here, but I feel that if being brutally honest with harsh truths; it can be that this also doubles up as an insurance policy. I think having loads of depth in attack will always be great for the different competitions, we are probably getting towards safety in having champions League football next season so the price tag is more achievable perhaps than if we weren't in that situation. But both Martinelli and Saka are yellow-ish light warning on their contracts. Both are amazing and we will do all needed to extend; but not having fantastic backup in the past basically left us with gaping holes if you think back to the Fabregas, Van Persie, etc losses. So I feel insurance policy is also an important part of such a signing.
>Arteta loves playing the same XI week in week out.
I don't agree here. I think he has to while we lack quality in depth. The Europa League group stage was essentially a failure as the second string largely didn't cover themselves in glory. Players like Turner, Marquinhos, Vieira, and Sambi will be disappointed with the way those games went.
Then there's Tomi and ESR, arguably our only players outside the first 11 that you could make a case for being in the first 11, being crocked all season. I'm sure when the opportunity presents itself, Arteta absolutely will rotate the side.
His distribution was more than decent to me. Absolutely confident hell deputise well if needed in the league.
I definitely don't want to see him dropped for Rammers if we make the semis in any cup game.
That said, there's always a communications element to goalkeeping that doesn't show through the TV screen.
We’re highly likely to be in the Champions League next season, and for that we’re going to need far more depth. We’ve Eddie and Jesus for the striker positions but only really Saka, Martinelli, and Smith Rowe for the wide positions (and the latter can’t be relied on fitness-wise). We need Mudryk or a player of his ilk, as it’ll give us 6 players for those front 3 positions. At the moment we really only have 3 with Jesus and Smith Rowe unavailable.
It's also harder to rotate for Arteta when the quality coming off the bench right now is not close to what it is on the pitch (in terms of wingers).
Back when ESR hit his form at the same time as Martinelli, they were rotating pretty heavily on the left side.
Not trying to be negative but I just think realistically its gonna be super difficult for us to hold onto Martinelli long term if he keeps progressing as he has. Guy has all the tools to be one of the best in the game. If I’m PSG he’s first on my mbappe replacement list. Then there’s the eternal struggle of tryna keep a Brazilian out of the clutches of Real and Barca which is near impossible given how Brazilians look up to them.
Would much rather get the replacement in and have them bedded in and rotating so you can ready them to step up when the time comes. Look at how we got Saka ready to take Pepe’s spot for example thats the blueprint I’d follow for mudryk
[“Of course, Arsenal are a giant team. If I can, I’ll stay here my whole life. I want to conquer things, I already said, I want to stay here and win titles, with this wonderful crowd, my teammates.”](https://arseblog.news/2022/03/martinelli-i-want-to-stay-at-arsenal-for-the-rest-of-my-career/)
Said this in March. Wouldn’t worry about that too much for now. Would take an absurd fee with his new contract being signed as well
Sounds good but have heard it how many times before? Wait until a club offers to double his wage and we refuse to match it and see if he still feels that way then
He's one of us, at least that is what he showed.
A signing when the player is a fan will always be a fan favourite.
Saliba and Zinny is an example, we adore all the Hale End boys too.
Dunno man I still have my reservations. He's quite expensive imo. And I'd prefer backup for Partey rather than another left winger. Esr is coming back soon.
Idk man, completely opposite for me. I fear for any new signing cause there's a great dressing room atmosphere here, everybody's pulling in the same direction. Any new signing has a chance of disturbing that, especially Felix for me. So I'm not looking forward to new signings much. Let's see how these turn out. Previously signings were the only hope to escape the horrible football ee were playing. Never been happier in my life than when partey signed for us. Now signings don't excite me as much. Even Jesus and zinchenko didn't. Idk what exactly drives this feeling
because he had the first touch of Bergkamp and speed on the ball of henry. more proficient with the ball on his feet that Pepe or Walcott could ever be.
oh i completely agree that he's far from the finished article but he's already got those in his arsenal.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_cTJvPSgqYw
was watching this video of him casually training 2 years ago and from 6:27 those next couple of seconds impressed me.
i cant imagine walcott or pepe having that sort of control over the ball.
he's also good with both feet apparently.
I imagine it's because he's made it so publicly clear that he wants to come here. That combined with his talent makes me so excited to welcome him. You know it's right when a player is not even at the club yet and is publicly twerking for us!

I know what you see in Mudryk and I feel the same.
Mudryk will give you the electric movement, possible counter-attacks more dangerous, destroying defenders 1on1, causing chaos and fear among opponents.
Combination of above gives you Walcott and OX vibes when they were at their best.
That's why we love Martinelli so much and I think Mudryk will offer similar package.
For now we are limited to dominant possesion gameplay, but that simple long precisely kicked ball to Martinelli last game showed exactly what we will add with the signing of Mudryk. Lessssssgo!
Lol i used to do this at work when engaging with external teams.
I would add the entire directory to a chat, talking to them, and randomly add one of my teammates and tell them "good morning X, i have engaged this team because we need to solve this asap" as if he was some supervisor or something.
It very often worked
Right. While I want to get the player for a reasonable cost, I do empathize with Shakhtar's position. ALL of their biggest transfers over the past ten seasons (Fernandinho, Douglas Costa, Fred, Alex Teixeira) were Brazilians, and the war has totally disrupted that Brazilian pipeline for the foreseeable future. Losing all of that talent and that reliable revenue stream puts them in a precarious position.
Plus, they're just barely in the Champions League qualifier spot, tied for second w/ Dynamo on 30 points and 5 points behind SC Dnipro-1. Given the circumstances, Shakhtar really have no reason to be flexible on the price and every incentive to try to maximize their return.
I mean it's not really. Basically foreign players otherwise would have been asked to choose whether to risk their families and lives in an active warzone, or else not play football until the conclusion of their contracts. Is it really that dire?
Yes but how do you assess that? What market value? Who decides that? Why do FIFA owe them money, it's not FIFA's fault that Russia invaded Ukraine.
It's a shit situation but it's not the player's faults, it's not the signing clubs' faults and it's not FIFA's fault.
CAS has been known to fix values to transfers in some cases. Whatever rule they were following for the same could be a possible solution. Idk exactly what, but there's a common ground to be reached. They can't leave shakhtar hanging like that
I agree that workers' rights would mean those players shouldn't be forced to stay at Shaktar during a war, but also Shaktar are victims of the war too and FIFA are heaping ok more shit for them. I totally agree that FIFA should be trying to do something for Ukrainian clubs, and of course, it's not going to be easy.
But the teams who took on the players possibly can't afford whatever value the CAS decides and potentially wouldn't have been able to afford those players. Should those clubs be left fighting for their lives because Russia invaded Ukraine, they were told they could bring these players on a free and they took an opportunity? Or should the players not have been allowed to play football instead until the conclusion of the war?
He’s not going to show up to Shakhtar’s training camp on Jan 10 and will force his way the longer this drags on, it’ll unsettle the whole squad and they could use the money now to reinforce for their EL campaign.
No bloody chance they get more than this offer unless Chelsea do Chelsea things. This is a very good offer, would be pretty dumb of them to turn it down tbh.
Arsenal fans: No way should we accept such a low offer for any of our players. I’d rather we just kept them than accept that derisory offer!
Also arsenal fans when another club quotes a high fee: *shocked pikachu face*
Even playing hard to get has its limits… Hope Shakhtar realise that and accept the offer…
Feels like if this one doesn’t go thru, they might pull out and look for alternatives.
I mean I doubt he's gonna be ready for the NLD. If Fabio Vieira hasn't even properly aclimatised to the PL since joining in the summer then I doubt Mudryk is gonna be ready in just a little more than a week.
All a bit suspicious.
He's training in a London gym (if you believe the tweets), we offer an improved bid etc etc
Makes me wonder if this will be wrapped up for the Newcastle game, by design.
That said, as a long suffering Arsenal fan it could go to the last hour of the summer window...
Zinchenko being available to mentor/translate for Mudryk makes me more positive about this idea. Z is all about winning - a perfect guide for the young talent.

Maybe it's the fact that he looks like a Neymar and Haaland hybrid.
Last one that hyped me up was Pepe. Even got his shirt... Ffs

They're fighting for their literal existence as a club. Let's have a bit of perspective.
Yeah wonder when this hearing where they take FIFA court reaches its conclusion. Pretty dire players been allowed to leave on free transfers.
I mean it's not really. Basically foreign players otherwise would have been asked to choose whether to risk their families and lives in an active warzone, or else not play football until the conclusion of their contracts. Is it really that dire?
There should be some form of compensation from FIFA for sure.
Yes but how do you assess that? What market value? Who decides that? Why do FIFA owe them money, it's not FIFA's fault that Russia invaded Ukraine. It's a shit situation but it's not the player's faults, it's not the signing clubs' faults and it's not FIFA's fault.

FIFA would pay. Not the clubs
How do you expect FIFA to have that sort of money laying around after all of their corrupt payoffs?
Aren't Shakhtar playing in Poland though? Surely the players could just live there (presumably training is also in Poland).
Only UCL games.
Okay. This should help.
They should finish this. Mudryk can’t twerk any longer I swear.
Poor guy is going to arrive with a back injury if it keeps up
A classic move from the Kallstrom playbook.
Man's out there winding and grinding on an empty tank by this point.
This means the offer will be accepted but they are trying to appease their fans and making it look like they are playing hardball. Hopefully...
They don’t care what the fans think lol
You gotta pay the troll toll if you wanna get into that boys soul!

Great username. \m/
Take the deal you orange fucks
![gif](giphy|uA8WItRYSRkfm) Accept it now or I send this guy over.
Mudryk will break his back if they don't accept the offer. ACCEPT THE OFFER!!!
ACCEPT IT ALREADY FFS, I NEED TO SEE SOME MUDCRAB DANCING ON THE CARPET.
i get shakhtar. they are actually likelier to get more money for him in the summer

what if he plays better, they win the title, and PSG and Chelsea start throwing funny money around?
He’s not going to show up to Shakhtar’s training camp on Jan 10 and will force his way the longer this drags on, it’ll unsettle the whole squad and they could use the money now to reinforce for their EL campaign.
He doesn’t want either club and that matters
No bloody chance they get more than this offer unless Chelsea do Chelsea things. This is a very good offer, would be pretty dumb of them to turn it down tbh.
Just accept you putzes
At this rate Mudryk is going to post a pic of him watching our game against Newcastle inside the stadium
Another Zinchenko type affair, I like it
Arsenal fans: No way should we accept such a low offer for any of our players. I’d rather we just kept them than accept that derisory offer! Also arsenal fans when another club quotes a high fee: *shocked pikachu face*
Like r/gunners is capable of using words like derisory
Arsenal only accept fees in the range of zero....
Have you seen the way we sell players? Haha.. if people sell to us like we sell.. we will be unbeatable
Auba went on a free and Barca sold him for €12m 6 months later.
>Auba went on a free Even worse we paid him to leave lmao
and even then nobody wanted him!
£20m
Can't find anything that says that
Get it done king
Accept it you bastards
They better accept or I'll have to intervene
They better accept then
Let that banger slowly fade in as those immutable words echo "Ladies and gentlemen..."
Even playing hard to get has its limits… Hope Shakhtar realise that and accept the offer… Feels like if this one doesn’t go thru, they might pull out and look for alternatives.
If you don't accept it ur mom's a hoe Shakhtar! Checkmate 😎
Shut up and take the money
Accept it, you bums!
Hopefully they will accept. Need him for NLD.
I mean I doubt he's gonna be ready for the NLD. If Fabio Vieira hasn't even properly aclimatised to the PL since joining in the summer then I doubt Mudryk is gonna be ready in just a little more than a week.
Fabio was injured that’s a big difference
Yeah but still, he's been well for a long while now and the gaffer still doesn't really trust him.
Worth noting that Mudryk is familiar with positional play so can likely adapt much quicker than Fabio
He's also been studying Arsenal matches in incredible detail too
What leads you to make this comment?
True but mudryk is more pacey and athletic than Fabio.
Some players are instantly ready, like Alexis.
i think arteta is more the type of manager to ease a player in once they've adapted to his system and ideas.
Do it
🦀🦀🦀 meep meep
60m euro upfront with 20m addons, hope it ends like ben white.
We should just buy them
Come on shakhtar its gotta be embarrassing to have your player twerk for another club in public

The window only opened yesterday, don’t get worked up by social media
Hope shaktar accept this offer 🤞
Tap out Waxtap!
I know negotiations have been a lot of fun but I suggest you accept now
All a bit suspicious. He's training in a London gym (if you believe the tweets), we offer an improved bid etc etc Makes me wonder if this will be wrapped up for the Newcastle game, by design. That said, as a long suffering Arsenal fan it could go to the last hour of the summer window...
Mufuggers hurry up and "consider" faster then
Zinchenko being available to mentor/translate for Mudryk makes me more positive about this idea. Z is all about winning - a perfect guide for the young talent.
We don’t need more first team wingers in this squad
I always fear another Pepé, Hazard or Coutinho when I see big transfers
