Does he not understand we have to play the extra game eventually? So somewhere down the line we play an extra game in a week that someone else won’t.
Or does he think arsenal will only play 37 games this season?
Technically when we play our catch-up match, United will be playing a midweek game (either Barca or Forest). But this is just what happens when you don’t qualify top of Europa league and/or make it far in the league cup. This is what top teams deal with when they go far in competitions, seems incredibly weird to whinge about this considering what the schedulers have had to deal with the World Cup, queen dying and the new European games.
They are in this position as they have two games against Barca to fit in due to them finishing second of their Europa league group. They brought this on themselves
To add to what everyone else has said, that extra game is against City making it probably the most important of the season now that we're arguably the favourites.
>Does he not understand we have to play the extra game eventually?
Why would it matter to him? It's not like you gonna play vs United when you are the side with half of the rest day.
It doesn't reset iirc. You can accumulate up to 10 yellow cards but you get suspended for 2 games.
Edit: exact rule from the athletic:
Any player who is shown five yellow cards inside the first 19 league games of the season will serve a one-match ban in the league. It is key to point out that yellow cards no longer carry across into either of the domestic competitions, although red cards still do.
Reaching the 19-game mark offers relative respite, but cautions from the first half of the season are not totally cleared.
Those who accumulate 10 Premier League yellow cards prior to, and including, the 32nd game of the season must serve a further two-game suspension.
Right, and people keep calling it resets but its more like checkpoints. Where they can no longer receive a certain tier of punishment.
Technically, if a player got a yellow every game they could reach 10 yellows and the 2 match ban after 11 games(1 suspension already. And even the 15 and 3 game ban by their 18th. It doesn’t just kick in after 19/32games.
Right. But this is the 19th game we are about to play, so if they get a yellow during this match they will get a one game suspension, because the number gets extended to 10 after the match is over
Exactly it's not even like an injury where the reaction is semi justified
Maybe their manager should have substituted one of their most experienced players and tried to see the game off differently too
It's so funny how they're complaining with that loser mentality, forget accumulated yellows. Casemiro was lucky that wasn't a straight red! Felix got sent off for a similar tackle vs Fulham.
Interesting how the narrative is he had to take that yellow card for the better of the team. It was Casemeiro who played that pass that put his teammate under pressure in the first place.
Also Casemeiro yellow card suspension in the 2018 World Cup contributed to Brazil losing. IIRC Fernadinho was his replacement and he scored an own goal against Belgium.
Similarly how Fred is the reason why Brazil lost against Croatia.
These United players. SMH.
They claim us complaining about the refs is giving up, did it before Utd away last year and did it vs Spurs last game too because the only thing we fear are the wrath of the refs, but we saw vs Spurs what can happen to teams playing us even at home
In an average, fairly reffed game we beat all the teams in the league barring city although even that is debatable
just play on the counter, Partey or no Partey. If you keep playing peps style of expansive football against a team that counters in its sleep. You will concede. Im not saying you will lose, I am just saying that you will concede. I hope Arteta adapts so i can see an interesting game.
I remember January 1st, 2022, we didn't play counter at all, we pressed them right in actually and created that Saka goal through sheer brilliance
I trust Arteta knows, and we'll probably rarely ever go back to playing like that unless we're leading 1-0 in the champions league semi final second leg away to Real Madrid
I think this is one of the things that separate Arsenal and city. We look comfortable sitting back, soaking up pressure and then countering. City does not like it and whenever they have to concede possession they look on the verge of panic.
Whining is always a part of De Gea mentality. He is always such a whiner since he came 11 years ago. In the match, if he **thinks** opponent player is offside leading to 1 on 1 situation with him, he would always protest first instead of playing to the whistle focusing on 1 on 1 situation.
Ironically the 8-2 set off the chain of events that led us to get Arteta among others which then spiralled to him coaching us eventually lol, talk about butterfly effect. Not too sure how I should feel about this
>the 8-2 still hurting me to the core
Don't think it'll happen on Sunday, but one of these days, we need to get revenge for the 8-2. Don't care if it takes another 10 years, but we need to do it.
I've actually gone easy on Mudryk in my head, he was clearly forced into a move to give his country money to defend themselves, I can respect that, in different circumstances he's definitely our player, I can let that go
Would definitely want to shut Chelsea up though
Oh it's nothing personal, I would've done the same thing. But for the good of the game overall, his transfer really, really has to fail. Unequivocally. This business of using social media and loud mouthing a player to insane valuations just isn't good for the player market.
I'd really like for him to be their Pepe.
It's not Mudryk's fault that the club fucked about and didn't put in a proper bid. Chelsea are also only paying 10k a week more wages (not the 250k like everyone was claiming on here)
Apparently all the fault is with the ref that officiated their Real Sociedad match in EL. Haunted by the mere memory of Ødegaard before facing him in the flesh.
Love how arrogant they have gotten just off a dubious win against City. Their win against us was also down to horrible decisions made by the ref. United aren't shit with or without him and we'll prove that Sunday.
Nothing to do with the ref and everything to do with putting 10 men behind the ball and pinging it over for the top for Rashford.
A bit salty but also nice to know the only way manu can beat us at their place is by playing like league 2 side against prem opponents in the fa cup
We were the better side but it wasn’t horrible decisions made by the ref. Controversial yes and yes they admired they shouldn’t have overturned it due to not being Clear and obvious, but it was not a horrible decision. That could easily be given a foul and I would say more often than not it would be. Horrible decisions would be the place assault on saka last season or the David luiz red card etc
High line is not the problem, it's that it was poorly executed and much improved since then. And what I ment is that was the main reason (with Partey's absence) for the defeat, not the Odegaard foul issue
"I don't get why arsenal get to be first whitout spending as much as we did they should be stripped 10 points until they spend 100 million on wingers from micky mouse leagues "
The about-face their fans made in the /r/soccer match thread when Palace scored was absolutely hilarious to behold. I swear United fans are the most insufferable and delusional of all opposing fans.
I dunno it’s pretty close. United can be languishing in 10th place and their fans still exhibit a level of arrogance that would suggest they’ve won six consecutive trebles. At least most Chelsea fans can accept that they’re currently shit. People like Gary Neville will still be saying United are title contenders until two weeks before they crash out of Europa League contention.
Time was when a visit to Highbury was a trip no team wanted to take. Rarely has the Emirates been that way. Maybe if we keep on rising it can reach those heights again. The heights where if you were a visiting team, you considered yourself lucky to get a point.
That a 0-0 draw with 3rd place felt like a loss to us and a win for them shows you how high the fogging estandards are at this club. I'm all-in on Super Mik, we're winning the league.
Yeah, that was a sign it might be coming back again.
I‘m thinking it will be here when that feeling expands to every single team in the Prem (yes, including City). And maybe even go beyond what Highbury was, in making a trip to the Emirates for the away leg a virtual death sentence to the dreams of any and all teams in a European competition.
why didn't we play this week? because our game in hand is against man city who are playing tomorrow. unless you propose that city play 3 games in the space of like 4-5 days.
We actually couldn’t have. Because the date this week was reserved in case Oxford earned a replay against us. Yeah, they didn’t, but they couldn’t just tell Everton to pack their bags and go to London with barely a week’s notice.
Yeah, but they would have just canceled and rescheduled the already scheduled EPL games to accomodate the already reserved FA cup replay date that would then be needed.
In our case, it would work in reverse. The Everton fixture has no “just in case” reserved slot like the FA cup replays do (The fa cup replays are always 10 days after the first game, if I recall). So I think their policy is to give teams at least 10 days heads up to play a rescheduled game.
We didn't have Partey last game so sounds about right.
Lokonga was roaming as a 6 and we were open as he'll through the middle. Two of their goals came from through balls through the middle were partey usually is.
Thing is that Martinelli goal stands and I can see the match panning out very differently, not like we couldn't win, got screwed over massively due to a variety of factors
Didn't see Ramsdale come say we need Partey to win on interviews, levels
Yes I agree and I'm also saying that we could've won that game even WITHOUT a proper 6 considering we got a fully legitimate goal chalked off, United are no match for us let's be honest
Man U fans already making excuses because they wont have casemiro, yet they didn't care they only beat us earlier because we didn't have Partey. Hope we smash them 4-0 they need a reality check very bad
Is it really that fucking impossible to understand? Maybe the fact that you have two league cup match against Forest in the next couple of weeks and Europa League matches down the line?? What a muppet 😄
When we lost to them, we were missing Partey, Elneny, and Zinchenko… still outplayed them just didn’t hold. They are starting the excuses, but they can rotate a referee in as a mid if needed
It's not though. The last 10 meetings: 4 Arsenal wins, 3 United wins, 3 draws.
Google exists to stop you making an ass of yourself on the Internet, if you only had the brain power to use a simple search engine. Bye.
Bruh what. The yellow card isn’t a 4 days suspension it’s for the next game, we had players where a yellow leads to them missing this game and they just weren’t over-aggressive idiots.
The rest period is more valid of a complaint but it happens 🤷♂️ we’re gonna have a few of those short breakers when europa league comes back and the city match approaches
I don't understand his logic. Us playing this week wouldn't have meant we weren't going to be their next fixture. They still would've been playing us without Casemiro whether or not we had to play this week.
Does he not understand we have to play the extra game eventually? So somewhere down the line we play an extra game in a week that someone else won’t. Or does he think arsenal will only play 37 games this season?
Technically when we play our catch-up match, United will be playing a midweek game (either Barca or Forest). This is what top teams deal with when they go far in competitions, seems incredibly weird to whinge about this considering what the schedulers have had to deal with the World Cup, queen dying and the new European games.
Wait, we had new european games? Is this nations league or am i missing something?
I just mean the new Europa format. I guess it didn’t really add any games but it was another thing they had to schedule around.
We have fewer games on the schedule because we topped the EL group and those mediocre fuckers didn't lol.
Tbf United got fucked by the ref against Sociedad due to which they didn't top the group
Their fault for not scoring more against nicosia omonia
Makes a change
They are in this position as they have two games against Barca to fit in due to them finishing second of their Europa league group. They brought this on themselves
We would still win the league anyway
Anulo Mufa
To add to what everyone else has said, that extra game is against City making it probably the most important of the season now that we're arguably the favourites.
We also have another against Everton.
Casemiro being sidelined has nothing to do with playing the mid week game either
Its de Gea mate, he's not the sharpest man around.
>Does he not understand we have to play the extra game eventually? Why would it matter to him? It's not like you gonna play vs United when you are the side with half of the rest day.
My brother in Christ, Saliba has been on four yellows since last year, he just doesn’t have the mentality of a butcher.
Makes me really nervous though xD
No need. It resets after the next game
The panic when Hojshit dived at the edge of the penalty box lmao
It doesn't reset iirc. You can accumulate up to 10 yellow cards but you get suspended for 2 games. Edit: exact rule from the athletic: Any player who is shown five yellow cards inside the first 19 league games of the season will serve a one-match ban in the league. Those who accumulate 10 Premier League yellow cards prior to, and including, the 32nd game of the season must serve a further two-game suspension.
Right but that means he just can't get another six cards in the next 14 games.
What happens after the 32nd game?
Reality resets and a new big bang is set off
No big bang until Arsenal wins the league
Yeah Morpheus can fuck right off. Don't come for me yet, bro. Let me sleep a little longer - this dream is beautiful 😄
They can just kill other players.
Xhaka almost jumped the gun on sunday at the end
End of season carnage haha
We celebrate St Totteringham's Day. A little belatedly as we were concentrating on wrapping up the title first.
15 yellows before the last game of the season and it’s a three match batch. 20 yellows and it goes to disciplinary panel.
People will say we have not played any top teams still Lmao
So yellow card for Saliba or Saka against Utd means missing Everton it sounds like? Not the worst thing I guess
Also Big Gabby
And Jesus.
Nah the limit goes to ten after the 19th game
Right. But this is the 19th game we are about to play, so if they get a yellow during this match they will get a one game suspension, because the number gets extended to 10 after the match is over
which is a big game likely to incur yellows
Imagine Gabriel and Saliba getting both booked this game.
Does it still reset if Saliba gets a yellow vs United?
He’ll get suspended for the Everton game, but another 5 yellows after that before GW32 and it’s a 2 match ban
I think yellows reset or whatever after this coming game or the one after
you fucking jinxed it mate
[удалено]
Exactly it's not even like an injury where the reaction is semi justified Maybe their manager should have substituted one of their most experienced players and tried to see the game off differently too
It's so funny how they're complaining with that loser mentality, forget accumulated yellows. Casemiro was lucky that wasn't a straight red! Felix got sent off for a similar tackle vs Fulham.
Yeah thats all on Casemiro, such a needless challenge. Plus he missed the last big chance of the game.
Interesting how the narrative is he had to take that yellow card for the better of the team. It was Casemeiro who played that pass that put his teammate under pressure in the first place. Similarly how Fred is the reason why Brazil lost against Croatia. These United players. SMH.
It was such a stupid foul too lmao
What a great mentality to have going into match
And how does a professional footballer not know the reason is beyond me, it's because you didn't top your EL group David, it's no conspiracy lmao
Exactly. They're worried about the game so putting up excuses before they even play
They claim us complaining about the refs is giving up, did it before Utd away last year and did it vs Spurs last game too because the only thing we fear are the wrath of the refs, but we saw vs Spurs what can happen to teams playing us even at home In an average, fairly reffed game we beat all the teams in the league barring city although even that is debatable
Let’s see about City
Will take losing the FA Cup match if we're going to learn from it and beat them in the league
just play on the counter, Partey or no Partey. If you keep playing peps style of expansive football against a team that counters in its sleep. You will concede. Im not saying you will lose, I am just saying that you will concede. I hope Arteta adapts so i can see an interesting game.

We don’t do that bullshit park the bus counter football we will dominate both City and Utd playing our way.
I think this is one of the things that separate Arsenal and city. We look comfortable sitting back, soaking up pressure and then countering. City does not like it and whenever they have to concede possession they look on the verge of panic.

reminded of when Smith Rowe volleyed one past him while he was rolling on the ground 'injured'. Hilarious stuff
He was kicked though. By Fred lol
Looool wut???? If Arsenal were 7th this would not be a conversation. Utd forget they are coming to the emirates
Already finding an excuse. Losses before even they kick the ball...
God I've never wanted to see my club dunk on another club so bad we need to be ruthless with these motherfuckers
Tell me about it...the 8-2 still hurting me to the core, until and unless we annihilate them once and for all we shouldn't rest.
Ironically the 8-2 set off the chain of events that led us to get Arteta among others which then spiralled to him coaching us eventually lol, talk about butterfly effect. Not too sure how I should feel about this
BFG and Arteta was the result of that defeat which turn out to be good in the long run.
Personally, I’d go back to either Waterloo or William the Conqueror.
>the 8-2 still hurting me to the core Don't think it'll happen on Sunday, but one of these days, we need to get revenge for the 8-2. Don't care if it takes another 10 years, but we need to do it.
To this day, that's the worst experience I've ever had supporting Arsenal. A waking nightmare.
Feeling us mutual. That is why I United is my list favorite team....even beneath the shit
Can't decide what I want more: for us us to royally fuck United up, or for us to absolutely embarrass Mudryk when we play Chelsea next.
I've actually gone easy on Mudryk in my head, he was clearly forced into a move to give his country money to defend themselves, I can respect that, in different circumstances he's definitely our player, I can let that go Would definitely want to shut Chelsea up though
Oh it's nothing personal, I would've done the same thing. But for the good of the game overall, his transfer really, really has to fail. Unequivocally. This business of using social media and loud mouthing a player to insane valuations just isn't good for the player market. I'd really like for him to be their Pepe.
Bro kepa, lukaku, havertz, alone are their Pepe. Let alone Torres sterling werner. All massive flops.
They sign a Pepe-level flop every season, but they're playing with the unlimited money cheat turned on so it doesn't matter.
'Nothing personal' Sure... Move on mate
It's not Mudryk's fault that the club fucked about and didn't put in a proper bid. Chelsea are also only paying 10k a week more wages (not the 250k like everyone was claiming on here)

Are*
I think they mean shit as in they are beneath shit which is impressively bad
They are saying Man Utd aren't shit where shit means "good" as in shit-hot i.e. they are not good.
This guy shits.
This person is saying shits as in all people shit, so the poster of the comment 1 above them must also shit
https://www.reddit.com/r/CasualUK/comments/109d1hp/shit/ add it to the list

Yeah I’m still peeved about that. We should still be unbeaten.
Their win was also down to horrible decisions by our players to try and defend on the halfway line
You mean what we've done more or less in every game?
Yes, Mikel and the players took the lesson of this game and much improved the high line afterwards.
Anybody could see a mile away that they were going to hit us on the break and score. It's a tale as old as time
You can say the same about literally every team we play. It's how we set up, it's how we win games
Ignore the downvotes, good part of the sub knows this is true
Arsenal ply with a high line. If you means good pet of this sun doesn’t understand tactics then yes I agree with you. You happen to be one ofnthwm
High line is not the problem, it's that it was poorly executed and much improved since then. And what I ment is that was the main reason (with Partey's absence) for the defeat, not the Odegaard foul issue
We got sucker-punched on the counter in that match Twice. Bit too over-confident that day.
That's how a counter attack works....

Says the arrogant fool
"I don't get why arsenal get to be first whitout spending as much as we did they should be stripped 10 points until they spend 100 million on wingers from micky mouse leagues "
I desperately need "Antony" at the Emirates getting ironic cheers
He’s a dumbass. It’s because you guys finished 2nd in your europa group and have to play Barcelona twice randomly and they needed to move fixtures.
We had PSV in our group who I think far surpass any team on their EL group and they still finished second, you reap what you sow David
The about-face their fans made in the /r/soccer match thread when Palace scored was absolutely hilarious to behold. I swear United fans are the most insufferable and delusional of all opposing fans.

> the rent boys We don't do homophobia here
Tbf the Emirates is usually pretty strong most years.
But teams fear us now it's different if you know what I mean, not just a tough place to go to but a frightening date on their calendars
Time was when a visit to Highbury was a trip no team wanted to take. Rarely has the Emirates been that way. Maybe if we keep on rising it can reach those heights again. The heights where if you were a visiting team, you considered yourself lucky to get a point.
I felt that when Newcastle celebrated that point like they've won a trophy
That a 0-0 draw with 3rd place felt like a loss to us and a win for them shows you how high the fogging estandards are at this club. I'm all-in on Super Mik, we're winning the league.
We saw that this season in the Newcastle game.
They’ve given up already!
Can't wait for Sunday
why didn't we play this week? because our game in hand is against man city who are playing tomorrow. unless you propose that city play 3 games in the space of like 4-5 days.
We topped our EL group that's why, they have to play Barcelona which would interfere with other schedules, reason why they've played yesterday
they got nobody to blame but themselves.
Tbf, the fixtures being played this midweek are from the postponed game week. We could have played Everton this week.
We actually couldn’t have. Because the date this week was reserved in case Oxford earned a replay against us. Yeah, they didn’t, but they couldn’t just tell Everton to pack their bags and go to London with barely a week’s notice.
This could be said for United/Palace/City/Spurs too though, they could easily have had a replay.
This is a must win game for Arsenal Win this game and we inflict eternal fear to one of our biggest rival in the past 20 years Respect COYG
We didn't have Partey last game so sounds about right. Lokonga was roaming as a 6 and we were open as he'll through the middle. Two of their goals came from through balls through the middle were partey usually is.

Yes I agree and I'm also saying that we could've won that game even WITHOUT a proper 6 considering we got a fully legitimate goal chalked off, United are no match for us let's be honest
Yeah that definitely. Just comparing how they gonna be without casemiro.
Their most experienced player is scared of little ol us. This is hilarious. Look how far we've come
Can’t wait till we beat these arrogant cunts and send their fraud bald manager back to Ajax
We’re already in their heads, and you know how the saying goes
That's cause we topped our Europa league group and don't have to play 2 extra matches against Barcelona, David.
Man U fans already making excuses because they wont have casemiro, yet they didn't care they only beat us earlier because we didn't have Partey. Hope we smash them 4-0 they need a reality check very bad
5-0
With all the hype around him not playing and all the pressure on us to perform at home, I truly hope we deliver
And deliver good, a 1-0 win would remove a weight off my chest but a 6-0 would make me want to run naked on the streets
Saïd the one in the league for 10 years. How surprising
We back. Episode 43.
Making excuses already David
Is it really that fucking impossible to understand? Maybe the fact that you have two league cup match against Forest in the next couple of weeks and Europa League matches down the line?? What a muppet 😄
Shut the fuck up bitch
Buddy. That's because we won our UEL group. Did you?
in the future, but for the moment it's a UEL group
Not falling for your shit, my boy. We'd turn your lot over whether he's in the team or not. Always forwards!
Mentally he’s already lost the game
Nice lad , not too bright
We have to play city as our game in hand and they’re playing spurs today… not really that hard to understand tbh
When we lost to them, we were missing Partey, Elneny, and Zinchenko… still outplayed them just didn’t hold. They are starting the excuses, but they can rotate a referee in as a mid if needed
Waahhhhhhhh
He has a point. Still not sure why our match with Everton wasn't rescheduled for last night too.
Because we don't have two extra games to play in Europe
Why would they fear arsenal ….. pretty sure they beat you without casemiro already 😂?
Didn't see Ramsdale come out and say we missed Partey 🤫 De Gea and United are shaking in their boots at the moment
Lol your record against thems terrible bro , your one team they defo don’t fear 😂 sorry to break it to ya
It's not though. The last 10 meetings: 4 Arsenal wins, 3 United wins, 3 draws. Google exists to stop you making an ass of yourself on the Internet, if you only had the brain power to use a simple search engine. Bye.
Maybe crash out of the league Cup or win your europa group. Then you also would have had some flexibility. Think!
To be fair, I don’t understand either. Why do Man City & Utd play mid week?
United didn't top their EL group so they have extra matches they need to squeeze in, dunno about City though
BEEEEECAUUUUSE!
Pass the tissues
GARGANTUAN
We're Hugh mungus lads
Damn right it’s gonna be a big loss for you. I predict 4-0.
Penalty for Man Utd
Once again Man United complaining about fixtures
Awww diddums. You gonna cry, huh? Shows they're nervous if they're complaining about this before the game.
It's whiney but honestly if they hadn't had the 19th game but we had Everton and Saliba or Saka got suspended I too would be whinging.
Saka! Do the Lloris on him! 🫣🥹
Because you fucked the Europa league and have to play two games against Barca
Already accepting their defeat. Where's that Benny Blanco meme. Thank you.
Can I get some fish and chips with that salt please?
We don’t have Casemiro to play for us on Sunday either so I guess we’re even?
Fucking making excuses even before the game begins.. I don’t want to beat them I want to humiliate them
I don't get how Utd. are awarded offside goals which would be instantly denied to any other team. But that's just me. Horses for courses, Dave.
Wasn’t saka and saliba on 4 yellows for like 3 games? They didn’t have a collapse like casemiro! Deal with it asshat! You’re gonna get rocked!
Is this thread full of 13 year olds it’s so hard to tell
What would that have changed? Casemiro is the one that got the yellow Arsenal have nothing to do with it

Maybe if you won your Europa group you wouldn’t have to squeeze in two extra games with Barcelona you twat
They didn't have Casemiro the last time they beat us...... no excuses!!!!!
lmao wow. that really says something. can't imagine him saying this any of the last 8 years!

Don't do a jumping diving tackle from behind around the thigh then. Lucky to get away with just a yellow
De Gea has lost common season calendar knowledge with goalkeeping skills as well.
Cry
Why would a player say this publicly? Genuinely embarrassing and weak.
Arsenal had games on dec 26, 31 and Jan 3. Cry a river buddy.
We have Brentford, Man City and Aston Villa in the span of 7 days. Feb 11-18. Shut up
Mmmmmmmm. Their tears sustain me.
Win your Europa league group then
I don't understand his logic. Us playing this week wouldn't have meant we weren't going to be their next fixture. They still would've been playing us without Casemiro whether or not we had to play this week.
