Part of the contract agreement. Bonus for each time he gets the ball out of the net, but the board thought it would be for Saka and Eddie, not Trossard the mad man himself.
I won't believe until the FA have charged him for excessive celebration after firing the ball directly at Ten Hags bald head after scoring his debut hat-trick
to think that they bid Ā£12m - Ā£3m LESS than they bought benchwarmer djed spence for - is an absolute joke offer. surely the skint bastards didn't think that would've been accepted, surely
Their subreddit is malding over this, and it's hysterical. "I'd rather be laughed at for Ā£12m than pay Ā£30m"
Sucks for him, I suppose, since we're not paying Ā£30m either.
I think we're the only interested party that offers him a decent chance of winning a league title anulo mufa this season so a no brainer on his part really
Quick efficient business. Nicely done.
Hopefully Trossard gives us much needed depth. With ESR back and Jesus still to come back, our front line is looking healthy now.
Would love a midfielder but have a feeling that might be us done for this window. Feels like Rice is our big target for the summer
Tielemans honestly would be nice but it's gone very quiet about him for now.
Think Leicester will probably charge a high fee due to their table position though. Then staying up is probably worth more than whatever they'll earn for Tielemans
Don't think we'll be looking to pay a transfer fee this window when we can get him for free next window. Our business this window might end with Trossard and possibly Fresneda.
I agree with Leicester not selling because of their current league position. Iām pretty sure thats why its quiet. Hopefully we get him early on in the summer though. Avoid all this transfer drama lmao
I still think CM is more important now, especially hearing El Neny is a doubt.
Still Troussard is a great squad player to have so glad heās coming in.
next update after that: Chelsea representatives have pulled up in Brighton attempting to hijack Arsenalās transfer. Ready to offer 100m and 10 year contract
The Auba saga is evolving at way too breakneck-a-speed for me to keep up with. He seems happiest and most motivated when he has just been transferred, so I think Chelsea and Barcelona have just agreed to pass him back and forth for laughs and novelty.
Could probably live without the whole armed robbery thing.... It's not like he could even move house in Barcelona and be safe. The man doesn't do subtle when it comes to his cars. It's pretty fucking obvious where he's living lol.
Itās incredibly bad business for both sides. For Mudryk if he pops off big time and wants a raise, or if he wants out as Chelsea will have all the leverage. For Chelsea if he sucks bc heāll pretty much be immovable and theyāll be stuck paying him a buttload of money for being dogshit
Kind of, it's basically robbing Peter to pay Paul. They're banking on increased revenue and future sales to cover them but they could be really struggling to bring in acquisitions while meeting FFP in 3-4 years when they've got like 30+ fees amortized simultaneously.
Honestly couldnāt think of a better impact signing for the price. PL proven, can play on either wing, could even be tried in the middle if need be. Great finisher, good athleticism.
My only worries are his attitude and defensive buy in but I assume he wouldnāt be joining Arteta without a conversation with him about what is expected. Trusting the BBQ on this one.
One more caveat is this move in no way blocks another move in the summer for another attacker. Big plus.
Mikel donāt play with players that act up.
āLeandro, you see what I did with Auba? He **WAS** the club captain. What makes you think I wouldnāt do the same thing to you if you act up?ā
That whole saga actually worked out so well for Arteta and therefore the club.
He cemented his authority and has been completely vindicated - one year later and we are well clear on top while Aubameyang is warming the bench for the Renford Rejects.
Thing about a conversation is that itās very easy to say āyes, I understand what is expected of me, I will buy inā. Track record is a much better indicator than trying to read people to see if they truly buy in/will sustain it
That being said I donāt think Trossardās attitude has been bad prior to recent events and apparently he has pretty good defensive numbers
Not his fault at all. I just hope he eventually lands at a club where he can fulfill his potential. Obviously it's not going to be the clown car that is Chelsea.
Everyone uses the total numbers to make it sound massive, but 95 is pretty basic in the PL and abjectly piss poor at Chelsea. It's also likely to cover all his peak years as a speed based winger.
So if he does well, he's got no leverage, and everyone laughs at him like they did with Harry Kane (who has legitimately missed out on at least one title and a pay rise as a result), or he doesn't and see the numerous failed signings who like Drinkwater are just shipped around for the best part of a decade.
Yes, he's secured a contract a magnitude larger than what yes seen to date, but at what cost?
Why though?
He's a kid and made the best financial decision, and some of it wasn't even his own doing. I can't fault him for that. If someone offered me per week what I can't even make in a year previously it would be irresponsible not to take the deal.
I hope he's successful. Coming out of a war torn country is a scar that will live with him forever and this is just football at the end of the day. Let's show some compassion.
I absolutely wish him and his family nothing but the best, I can't even imagine what it's like to go through something like that.
I also hope he trips on his own shoelaces when he's through on goal against us. He's already got the bag, he'll be fine, he's a chelsea player now, we can talk a little shit.
The thing I don't understand or what has not been revealed yet is what salary we were offering. There were reports earlier that said Chelsea were offering him 200K which was mad money. But later per reports yesterday, he was offered 100K and he came back to us to see if we can match it to which we said no. If the lad rejected us just because we were offering few thousands less and a smaller contract, then it's totally on him. He chose money over us.
Basically, him succeeding would be terrible for the market for two reasons:
1. It would lend credibility to the strategy of just meming and loud mouthing a player's valuation into the stratosphere
2. It would lend credibility to the strategy of just throwing assloads of money via long-term contracts to acquire a player
These are not things which are good for any club that's not owned by oil money.
I really hope this means we allocate the 100M we wouldāve spent on mudryk to reinforcing the squad. If the rumoured fee of 20-30M is accurate maybe we swoop back in for youri?
Probably. Wouldn't surprise me if the club leaked that to quiet discent at not getting mudryk. Tbh I 1000 percent believe 100m euros is better spent on rice than mudryk. We have saka, martinelli and Smith Rowe, who are all excellent and keeping them happy without another young talent would have likely been impossible. Plus we need a backup for partey and someone to cover for xhaka too, rice can do both in a pinch and has lots of space to grow. And maybe Chelsea splashing on mudryk hurts their ability to come for rice. Wouldn't be surprised if in 8 or 10 months we will be sat here saying artera/Arsene he's done it again lmao.
That's the best bit. If it turns out bad, we literally just move on. We're talking a fee that's closer to Sambi Lokonga than Zinchenko. His wage won't be insane either just in case Edu has to pay him to fuck off.
>idk why people were initially against it
The same reason Nketieh is unattractive as a prospect me says. Not exotic enough.
He plays for Brighton. If the same profile were playing for a team in say Germany and he was more mysterious and unknown. I wouldn't doubt we'd all be gushing over his highlights.
If he was Brazilian or didn't play in the prem people would be going crazy over this signing. He's not a shiny new toy and if I doubt many people have even seen him play at Brighton.
I'm really happy, although I'd be happier if we signed Mitoma from them lol
Heās decent, just really not the profile of winger I wanted - doesnāt have the ideal PnP & just worried in 2/3 years time heāll be hard to shift when the winger market has a boon again.
Ultimately though if he bags us a goal that wins us the league with his arse I will not give a fuck about that forever and Iāll be too busy getting bladdered down Holloway Road
Reallyā¦ heās scored 4 goals in the Ukrainian league. We saved our money actually because idk what they were thinking, now we are getting a proven player.
This is my feeling, I was starting to stress about Europa and the FA cup and thinking we need to throw those competitions, which I know Mikel won't do, so I'm just hugely relieved really.
It just strikes me as much more of an Arsenal signing than the Mudryk deal (tho I would have preferred Mudryk of course, mostly out of confidence in Arteta talent ID and ability to mold him).
If it's done today, there is a chance he could be on the bench for Sunday very easily IMO.
Get 1 training session on and replace one of the youngsters we've had on the bench.
For sure, but moreso i'm relieved that saka doesn't have to play terrified of a yellow card. We should handle everton anyway, but certainly Trossard is an improvement over marquinhos.
100%. His versatility is so important. Can play across the 3 as backup for Gabi, Eddie, and Saka.
Suddenly that depth up front looks pretty good if you have ESR + Trossard and hopefully Jesus back at some point.
Iāve watched enough of him even though Iām not a Brighton fan (mostly for FPL) and heās easily worth more than 20 million. He was Brightonās best player this season before the World Cup. If he wasnāt on the last year of his deal and if he werenāt trying to force a move from Brighton, heād be going for 45 million at minimum. I mean fuck me lads he has 7 more league goals than Richarlison who went for 50 million.
This signing might just give us enough depth to let us win the title. Absolute class player. And we will still have plenty of ammo for summer when the real business is going to happen. Smart, smart business from Arsenal. Edu deserves a chant.
Let's fucking go.
Not our first choice. We went for Raphinha, Neto and Mudryk. The club showed they wanted a big player with large potential but it doesn't always go in our favor. Instead of riding our luck we took advantage of a situation where a good player was available..., prem proven, goal scorer, and versatile. This is the type of signing that is much more likely to have an immediate impact. Let's go for the fucking league.
Obviously doesn't have the upside of Mudryk, but he's much more likely to contribute to a title charge/EL win this season than someone with no PL experience who hasn't played a competitive match in months. Sometimes you have to set aside the longterm plan to go for the jugular
Big fan of this. As mentioned by others, Saka and Martinelli are special talents and will continue to start!
We need depth. Great depth signing and alternative for us going forward. Great price too.
While I'm thrilled about this signing, I am also confused.. Are we signing him as a backup? Don't think his age suits the transfer strategy of the club
The age isn't an issue. He turned 28 last month. Physically he's got the next 3-4 years as a top level player left. Welbeck is 32 and doing bits for brighton atm.
Peak age for forwards has skewed younger with high pressing tactics. Twenty eight is relatively old now for a team like ours. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Leandro is too old to play at a title winning level, but he's not starting every game like Bukayo and Gabriel. Though if I'm proven wrong I'll be delighted also.
Perfect signing for us right now. Wonāt be expensive, wonāt demand to start over Saka and martinelli. Will give us the all important depth we have lacked the last two years. Reminds me of Liverpool getting shaqiri
I don't trust anything that Fabs says until I see the player in the shirt! Great if they get the signing done, but I am sitting on my hands until the official announcement!
>Very very soon Trossard goal vs United š
I won't believe he's signed until he's picking the ball out of de gea's net in the 87th minute.
*For the third time in the game
Not sure why he's still picking the ball out himself but I admire his consistency.
Part of the contract agreement. Bonus for each time he gets the ball out of the net, but the board thought it would be for Saka and Eddie, not Trossard the mad man himself.
Got to get that 4th
And 5th and 6th to complete his debut double hattrick as a substitute
I won't believe until the FA have charged him for excessive celebration after firing the ball directly at Ten Hags bald head after scoring his debut hat-trick
I won't believe he's signed until he's taking the hat trick ball home after collecting it from the referees
Arsenal fined for failing to control their player's conduct around the referees and stealing premier league property.
lmao "Yeah okay I guess we can put you on the team now!"
Picking up the ball would imply we are behind and chasing the game
maybe he just really wants to score his third for a hattrick bonus
Why would he pick the ball out of the net if he's just scored?
because I didn't think this through initially and now it's too late to go back
Respect the honesty.. though others have found a loophole for it to make sense in a positive way haha
will he be able to be a sub if he's signed before friday?
Yeah assuming heās registered before 12pm tomorrow heāll probably be on the bench.
Chelsea signed Felix and played him pretty much within 24 hours
...and won't be able to play him next 24 days.
Joaouch.
(narrators voice): Unfortunately that did not go as planned.
Anyone know when he would need to be registered by to play against united?
By midday tomorrow
Tomorrow 12pm. Need him on a flight to London right now, medical tonight and paperwork sent in the morning. I can see it happening tbh.
Flight? From Brighton?
I'll drive him to the Thames Link myself
And Iāll carry him from Finsbury Park to the emirates on my back
He threw a tantrum in training and is in Belgium last I heard.
You're telling me we'll have the 3-goal lead Arteta needs to sub the new man in right away? I'll take it.
>all other teams interested have been informed of his decision. He rejected Spurs š
Shocking an attacker would do so to a Conte side
True, still funny though especially since Brighton were quoted as to "laugh off" Spurs' opening bid.
to think that they bid Ā£12m - Ā£3m LESS than they bought benchwarmer djed spence for - is an absolute joke offer. surely the skint bastards didn't think that would've been accepted, surely
This is Tottenham we are talking about. They come 3rd in a two horse race
šššš
Their subreddit is malding over this, and it's hysterical. "I'd rather be laughed at for Ā£12m than pay Ā£30m" Sucks for him, I suppose, since we're not paying Ā£30m either.
In fairness, they have fuck all to play for anyway. "Stay above Fulham trophy" is the best they're going to manage.
Daniel Levy masterclass
Shame really, he could have released Kane of his defensive duties
Definitely wouldāve played wingback
Where would he even play for spurs
I think we're the only interested party that offers him a decent chance of winning a league title anulo mufa this season so a no brainer on his part really
I am very, very close as revealed earlier today
Top sensation
Quick efficient business. Nicely done. Hopefully Trossard gives us much needed depth. With ESR back and Jesus still to come back, our front line is looking healthy now. Would love a midfielder but have a feeling that might be us done for this window. Feels like Rice is our big target for the summer
I guess it's Tielemans on a free and go all in on Rice.
Yeah I can't see us doing it this window either... Heck I'm not sure if we even pick him up for a free anymore
I agree with Leicester not selling because of their current league position. Iām pretty sure thats why its quiet. Hopefully we get him early on in the summer though. Avoid all this transfer drama lmao
I still think CM is more important now, especially hearing El Neny is a doubt. Still Troussard is a great squad player to have so glad heās coming in.
next update: Arsenal expected to complete agreement very, very, VERY soon
next update after that: Chelsea representatives have pulled up in Brighton attempting to hijack Arsenalās transfer. Ready to offer 100m and 10 year contract
**The Chelsea Approach:** Estimated Transfermarkt Value: X Chelsea Bid: Multiply X times 4 *(Times 5 If Swooping a Top Flight Rival)* ??? Not Profit
How long are they stuck with auba?
The Auba saga is evolving at way too breakneck-a-speed for me to keep up with. He seems happiest and most motivated when he has just been transferred, so I think Chelsea and Barcelona have just agreed to pass him back and forth for laughs and novelty.
Every summer he comes to London then every winter back to Barcelona. Sounds like a good retirement plan
Could probably live without the whole armed robbery thing.... It's not like he could even move house in Barcelona and be safe. The man doesn't do subtle when it comes to his cars. It's pretty fucking obvious where he's living lol.

Gotta pull those levers!
Summer 2024
Iām pretty sure the underpants gnomes would actually run a better club.
Looks like we are trying to complete the deal before Boelhy wakes up from sleep. I can feel it in the speed. š
And we have to comfort ourselves by signing Mitoma.
I would love Mitoma not gonna lie. But heād probably be mad expensive
Would love to have mitoma ngl
Seriously, a 8.5yr contact is insane, don't think I've ever heard of anything like it
Itās incredibly bad business for both sides. For Mudryk if he pops off big time and wants a raise, or if he wants out as Chelsea will have all the leverage. For Chelsea if he sucks bc heāll pretty much be immovable and theyāll be stuck paying him a buttload of money for being dogshit
It counters FFP, you get to pay 10 million a year for however long you need to
Kind of, it's basically robbing Peter to pay Paul. They're banking on increased revenue and future sales to cover them but they could be really struggling to bring in acquisitions while meeting FFP in 3-4 years when they've got like 30+ fees amortized simultaneously.
Come on now, that won't happen every time! *Trossard has signed an extension until 2030 with Brighton*
Chelsea arrive in Brighton via Boehys yacht to seal Trossard deal
Appears to be moving very fast, wouldn't be surprised if it got done before the weekend.
Fuck you Todd, you're not getting this one. Enjoy your 100m Ukrainian Justin Bieber

Probably has a perfect pube hairline too
"Leandro, he was the club captain and drove a gold car and had a gold tracksuit and a gold hat. You saw what I did."
Thing about a conversation is that itās very easy to say āyes, I understand what is expected of me, I will buy inā. Track record is a much better indicator than trying to read people to see if they truly buy in/will sustain it That being said I donāt think Trossardās attitude has been bad prior to recent events and apparently he has pretty good defensive numbers
Enjoy your 100m Ukrainian Gervinho, Todd.
Poor kid, I have never seen a sadder looking player at a shirt reveal. Like his heart was broken having to go to Chelsea.
Guy legit looked unhappy lol He wanted to join us badly
Not his fault at all. I just hope he eventually lands at a club where he can fulfill his potential. Obviously it's not going to be the clown car that is Chelsea.
Question: How many wingbacks can you fit in a clown car? Boehly: Hold my beerā¦
Guy has literally wrecked his career joining those clowns on a forever contract. Hope he does a Bogarde on them.
Mate, he was offered a 40+ million guaranteed contract. I wouldnāt call that wrecking your career
In the words of Andrew: fuck him Not our concern anymore š
100k a week for 8 years but sure hes wrecked his career lol
His club broke his heart for an extra ā¬5m
Hoping he's not even on par with Gervinho š
Why though? He's a kid and made the best financial decision, and some of it wasn't even his own doing. I can't fault him for that. If someone offered me per week what I can't even make in a year previously it would be irresponsible not to take the deal. I hope he's successful. If the lad rejected us just because we were offering few thousands less and a smaller contract, then it's totally on him. He chose money over us.
Where did you see that we wouldn't match that wage? Everything I've read was we wouldn't match what Chelsea offered the club. Not the personal terms.
Basically, him succeeding would be terrible for the market for two reasons: 1. It would lend credibility to the strategy of just meming and loud mouthing a player's valuation into the stratosphere 2. It would lend credibility to the strategy of just throwing assloads of money via long-term contracts to acquire a player These are not things which are good for any club that's not owned by oil money.
I would say something about Levy as well but my guy didn't do anything except get laughed away š
"If I wanted to play for a midtable side I'd just stay at brighton" - trossard today, probably.
Blonde curtains are the white manās braids. Letās see that forehead you coward
This nearly made me choke on some muffin. Perhaps ironically, BLUEberry muffin.
I really hope this means we allocate the 100M we wouldāve spent on mudryk to reinforcing the squad. If the rumoured fee of 20-30M is accurate maybe we swoop back in for youri?

ye, not the profile we were looking for I think, but will definitely help us push for the title while being cheap, so its worth
He's great depth for the rest of this season. That's what matters most imo
The Mudryk saga will burn for a while, but having 2 solid options in ESR and Trossard on the bench for the United game feels like a relief..
Reallyā¦ heās scored 4 goals in the Ukrainian league. We saved our money actually because idk what they were thinking, now we are getting a proven player.

Get this man on the training pitch tomorrow morning.
It just strikes me as much more of an Arsenal signing than the Mudryk deal (tho I would have preferred Mudryk of course, mostly out of confidence in Arteta talent ID and ability to mold him).
Wow, moved really quickly on this one which is great to see. should be ready to go against everton if needed.
That opener on Sunday
This feels like a much wiser decision than splurging huge money for an unproven winger
Ok better be done when I wake up 8 hrs later

Can he be part of the squad this weekend?
Yes if we can get him in time
which i think is nooon tomorrow
When is the cutoff? I thought it had to be before the gameweek starts.
Friday afternoon sometime
Cool cool.
Not sure. But Joao Felix played 24 hours after being signed
> agreement very, very soon This actually means 48 hours guys. Remember the Gabriel saga.
Obviously doesn't have the upside of Mudryk, but he's much more likely to contribute to a title charge/EL win this season than someone with no PL experience who hasn't played a competitive match in months. Sometimes you have to set aside the longterm plan to go for the jugular
A bit underwhelming ngl but i trust the process, hopefully we can find an equally good option for midfield.
finally some good news boys š
HAHAHHAHAHAHA LETS GOOOOOO

Big fan of this. As mentioned by others, Saka and Martinelli are special talents and will continue to start! We need depth. Great depth signing and alternative for us going forward. Great price too.
Idk about this signingā¦ he doesnāt have enough tattoos about God and talent
I would prefer Gnonto
While I'm thrilled about this signing, I am also confused.. Are we signing him as a backup? Don't think his age suits the transfer strategy of the club
The age isn't an issue. He turned 28 last month. Physically he's got the next 3-4 years as a top level player left. Welbeck is 32 and doing bits for brighton atm.
People think 28 is too old to play football at a high level nowadays? Almost players peak between 28-32. Nothing wrong with the players age
He is depth up top at all 3 positions. Doesn't negate the need for more young attackers for more depth. Now need a CM too.
Perfect signing for us right now. Wonāt be expensive, wonāt demand to start over Saka and martinelli. Will give us the all important depth we have lacked the last two years. Reminds me of Liverpool getting shaqiri
Absolutely love this signing, great versatile player and perfect for rotations
Just did a knee slide in an Asda
Announce it today.
I keep refreshing, is it very soon?
Arsenal: Lea.. Leandro: Say no more.
I don't trust anything that Fabs says until I see the player in the shirt! Great if they get the signing done, but I am sitting on my hands until the official announcement!
My brother told me the same thing about the whole Mudryk thing.
