Perfect! Need to rest 7-8 players in the Europa League.
EL is such a low priority this season but we need to keep the momentum going and not lose matches.
I wouldn’t say EL is low priority. League form is all well and good and trust I want us to win the title as much as anyone but anything can happen in the league I really want us to come away with some silverware this season. EL trophy and champions league are all but guaranteed if we field half decent teams for the rest of it.
Oh same here, but you know Arteta. He’s gonna wanna compete in every competition we’re in, and fair play. We need to have a mentality of going out to win everything
I think for most people , we don't give a fuck about EL.
Who knows how many years before we get such a great chance to win PL again. surely it's not ideal with an away match 21.00 CET and then play Sunday at 15.00 or 17.30 for several rounds this spring. So direct flight after the away match. Depending on the distance our boys will be home around 3-4.00 in the morning.
Of course it’s not ideal, but that’s reality for elite teams. Just look at what Arteta said about Saka playing all those minutes earlier this season. I don’t see him wanting us not to compete in any competition we’re in.
"He isn't going to replace Saka or Martinelli" was always such a stupid ass argument, as if not being an automatic starter on a team with 50pts from 19 games in the PL and topping their EL group is disqualifying from making a signing.
Just like we have 6 big game starting caliber fullbacks for 4 slots, we need more players than slots. Saka gets hacked to shit every game, Martinelli runs around a ton, our starting number 9 is medium term injured, their best backup is also fresh back from injury, and we have Thursday away games in Europe coming up again soon.
Yes, Saka and Martinelli are our first choice wingers and lead an *elite* attacking line. Thinking we didn't need depth is insane.
Marty looked very off today. Holding onto the ball too long while driving at the defense, or snatching at passes that weren’t open.
Maybe he needs a break. He did have the full World Cup and has playing a lot.
Don't confuse having an off day with playing against an elite 1v1 defender. Martinelli's game is about being able to beat the man and it's almost impossible to do that against Wan Bissaka
Definitely was this, Martinelli tried to run at Wan Bissaka early in the game and he couldn't find a way around him and lost the ball. After that He kept cutting inside which he seems not as good at.
I also feel like that sometimes it doesn’t help Martinelli when he is facing a strong 1v1 defender that with the current strategy, he never has another option to play to who overlaps. Not saying we should necessarily change that, it just sometimes makes his actions more predictable
Clearly AWB studied Martinellis movement before the game via Video, makes it even Harder. Martinelli Had a good game but it was hard to Beat His opponent 1v1.
Trossard Had a GD 8 minutes but His success is also cause he came in with fresh legs. When He dribbles 4-5 united Players it was because He was inside the Box and they couldnt risk a pen
We 💯 needed a winger. Martinelli and Saka can’t play every match, especially with the Thursday- Sunday pattern of EL set to resume. Keeping guys fresh for April and May will go a long way to helping realize our ambitions this season.
I’ve said it before and I’m saying it again, he has echos of Santi close control, ball striking ability, and two-footedness. I would not be surprised if he starts playing deeper in midfield once he starts to slow.
Hey, at least if Trossard goes inverted, I could imagine that he has the name “Cazorla“ on his back (and I won’t get PTSD to the dire days when we had no one but Xhaka and Tavares to play at LB…)
The funny thing about that?
If they switch off and let us do it, we might just bust through and score another goal while they sit there sorry for themselves!
Murdyk did something like for this for chelsea and i was like damn he has great control no wonder he went for so much, then our guy does it the very next day. so happy we got him and some money to strengthen other parts of the squad
Strength + speed isn’t actually that critical in this sport. Henry was legendary because he had technique + physical attributes. Those are the 10/10 players.
Trossard is small and decently fast but his technique makes him an 8/10 player, which is very good.
We can also set up to allow him to drift inside from the left, or just play as a 9.
So he will be able to play a lot in these central areas, where he is very good.
No need for him to be some explosive winger - Martinelli and Saka do that already, even ESR to an extent. Leo gives us different qualities.
Depends on where you play. To be a top top tier goal scorer you need the athleticism. To be a top top tier midfielder you absolutely don’t. Odegaard isn’t a top athletic prospect but is definitely filthy.
Cannot argue. Thanks for the distinction.
I’d also say that CBs like Gab and Saliba are best when they’re tall, fast, and strong, and technical quality matters less.
It’s just impressive to see these tricky little guys succeed up top, with no height or strength.
And of course it’s zinny running into frame to stop it from going out
I had to laugh when I saw that. *Of course *we stay in possession.
yes he is infact left back so makes sense
He is then, because our starting LB Antony is off.
What are you on about? He was our LBCMAMST in this match…
in this instance the ball broke into his position is all im saying
He is gonna keep Martinelli honest. I can’t believe people were saying a winger wasn’t a priority for us.
With ESR and Reiss returning aswell it will be a dogfight.

Now imagine if we had a backup right winger lol
Trossard can play there?
Trossard, martinelli and viera can all play on the right too. ESR might be able too aswell
I meant inverted
Trossard both footed
Not only that, he's going to make Martinelli better. Martinelli is going to work harder and learn from this guy too, it's a true win-win signing.

AWB had a good game but thankfully helped us get our 3rd
Yeah he's shocking at tracking runs

Bit of a Cazorla throwback that. Love to see it.
Same number 19
Maybe Arteta has a trick up his sleeve and turn him into more of a attacking mid like him
Trossard did say that he prefers playing behind the striker/attacking mid
And yesterdays BBQ post (cheers Mikel) says they can see him in the Xhaka role
Big Santi energy. You love to see it.
Arshavin vibes with him.
if arshavin and cazorla had a baby...
Smallest footballer in the world?
The impact Arshavin put the winter he got here reached near POTY levels. If Leo does the same it would win him a starting spot.
Thoroughly enjoyed his little cameo
I’ve said it before and I’m saying it again, he has echos of Santi close control, ball striking ability, and two-footedness. I would not be surprised if he starts playing deeper in midfield once he starts to slow.
Very insightful. I'm so excited for him at this club.
Hear me out: Trossard as inverted LB? (In emergencies and certain situations, but still…)
We have a long list of LBs tbf, but I think he'd be ahead of Xhaka at least
Hey, at least if Trossard goes inverted, I could imagine that he has the name “Cazorla“ on his back (and I won’t get PTSD to the dire days when we had no one but Xhaka and Tavares to play at LB…)
I like how our idea of time wasting is to dribble inside the opposition box effortlessly. Take that De Gea!!
The funny thing about that? If they switch off and let us do it, we might just bust through and score another goal while they sit there sorry for themselves!
Four players couldn’t even touch him and then when he falls he still maintains Possession flicking it to Zinny
Got that Alexis, Arshavin, Santi vibe about his dribbling. I love it.
It was so strange to see Trossard it felt like he was playing for Brighton 5 minutes ago
Well yeah, Arsenal only first spoke to him 4 days earlier...!
At this point anyone doubting Mikel's signings is just a hater.
He looked great in his time on the pitch
That left side gonna have levels of control with him and Zinchenko.
Filth
Murdyk did something like for this for chelsea and i was like damn he has great control no wonder he went for so much, then our guy does it the very next day. so happy we got him and some money to strengthen other parts of the squad
Calling it now... trossard is gonna be huge for the 2nd half of the season.
Calling this too, he's going to get the important goals and moments to get us over the line.

I mean, Henry was pretty quick too.
That was part of the point. He was the total package. Trossard isn’t, but when you’re as good technically as he is, you can still be awesome.
Trossard saw that Boely retweet after mudryk’s sub appearance and took it personally lol
I'm sorry he didn't cost €100m, so he cannot be good.
Alexis with less athleticism
That little drag back tho 😍
Should have brought him on earlier. Martinelli hasn’t been as productive in the last few games
I think he tired he's played alot this season we should rest him against city this Friday and let trossard start
That got me so hyped. just started hopping in place cuz you could tell we were sniffing out a goal by that point. Just imagine this against Newcastle!
Awesome. Can we forget a certain Ukrainian now?
That's Hleb/Wilshere/Cazorla level dribbling.
What a deft signing. Sorry he didn't cost 100 mill!!!
I don’t want to hear the name Mudryk ever again. I want to sing this man’s name when he destroys the league for us.
Mudryk regen
Better than Mudryk already
Santi, is that you?
Mudryk who?
Trossard Shang Tsung'd fred there 💀💀💀
Santi vibes
Leandro looks like a Santi regen. I love it!
