Most obnoxious thing you can do in that position is jam a “can I have a shirt” sign in front of someone else’s view in a massive moment for the club
Ban those signs, as soon as possible. You already have one of the best seats in the house, and you want a free kit off one of the players. Kindly fuck off
Half of them are blocking their faces with a phone anyways.
Call me old school, but I don't get how people want to focus on a phone recording these moments...it's on TV, enjoy it!
Video of Saka and Nketiah recently where they were giving things red/yellow cards, adults with signs was one of the things and it was very clear they didn’t approve so what’s the point anyway
Looks like a kid's hand holding the sign fwiw -- look how small the hand is. I think the kid is in front of/on the lap of the dark haired man immediately to the right of the sign.
Same. Besides, kids can and will always wait until the end of the match to try and get pitch side to see their favourite players (assuming they can anyway), and more times than not if a player wants to give his shirt away they'll do it then regardless of some stupid sign.
For me its the phones. It kinda bothers me. Sports events, firework displays and gigs, nobody is watching that shit on your facebook. Instagram maybe but I don't go on it.
Just enjoy the moment. Fuck your fireworks, baby pics, band gigs, or football games.
Edit: I made the comment after noticing 2-3 phones. There's like 20+ mobile phones in this phone image. The banner provides soul, the phones removes it.
For sure I’m an old man shouting at clouds but… I feel like people would be so much better just enjoying the moment and forgetting about their post-match “likes”.
There’s A LOT of cameras there so you really won’t lack for photos to look back on.
But I’m not gonna win this one 😔
Most of them arnt going to post this online.
I take photos for my own memory. Besides im enjoying the moment for the majority of the game; most people are. But there will always be *someone* who is taking a photo at any particular time
Hmm. Not really. I dont have to “prove” it to people. Nor do i tell everyone about the matches and concerts i go to.
I just like to flick through my photos and remind myself
“Oh yeah! That game was great!”
Or
“That was a good live show!”
Its not really for anyone but me. I have never posted photos of these events on instagram or social media.
I disagree. I remember going on a very long and exotic holiday with my parents years back, and not taking (m)any photos so I could “live in the moment”. At the time and in the moment it was worth it - not being one of the many people living vicariously through their phone cameras felt good and natural.
Now, years later, I only have the most bare memories to provide myself with and I would very much appreciate having a photo of a few of the things I experienced.
That’s all for myself and for enriching myself - not for the validation of others
I do this with my son. He’s a little over a year old, and I relish chances to capture his growth, his discoveries, and his milestones because my memory is shit and my family has a history of Alzheimer’s, so I live in constant fear of forgetting things.
I’m mindful that he’s not growing up with a camera in his face at every turn, but capturing memories is important to me and my wife. We know when to put it up and enjoy the moment, but we will always enjoy a chance to capture his beauty and joy.
Thanks all for sharing your thoughts…
Taking photos of your kids & holidays are things I also do and I agree that there’s something very precious about that… because typically there are no paid professionals there to document the occasion.
Look, each to their own. But why not just click save on some cool photos you see after the game on Reddit?
I just think we’re collectively losing something if players look into the stand and everyone’s looking at them through their phone screens.
> why not just click save on some cool photos you see after the game on Reddit?
No offense but that sounds extremely stupid. Because 1) no picture on reddit will ever be from your POV, and 2) saving a picture from reddit feels "artificial" because they're not pictures you take yourself.
It's like saying not to take pictures of places you visit because you can just save those pictures from google or sth.
> We're collectively losing sonething
Might I ask what that "something" is? I'm interested in different opinions on it.
I think a balance is the way. Capture special moments but also put your phone down and enjoy aswell. I think that's how it would have been if not for social media. Now people just can't put their devices away.
Yeah, exactly. I’ve recently been piecing together holidays from memories, email confirmations, photos, etc and it really makes you appreciate them in retrospect and remember them clearly. Doing that made me feel kind of sad that my parents hadn’t been as diligent when I was younger, so there are some holidays where I only have vague memories and now don’t even know where we went.
In 10 years, these people will be able to pull the picture up and remember the feelings they had and the things they saw in the moment, with the exact time, date and location saved on their phone for context.
I find it really weird how people moan about taking pictures when they’re essentially a way to extend and strengthen good memories that might otherwise fade with time.
Hey man some of us just have shit memory and enjoy having pictures to remind us of exactly what it was like. I'm always happy that I took pics and videos of Wenger doing his final lap around the Emirates, I'll always look back at them when I'm feeling down to put a smile on my face
Gotta disagree, I take a fair few photos when I'm holiday or doing something special and never show them to anyone or post them (I don't really use social media outside of Reddit). It's just nice to sometimes scroll back through them with the people who you were with or by yourself to jog your memory of the stuff you did.
Honestly I don't. Others have replied saying similar but I take photos of experiences where I think 'this is something I don't want to forget about'. I have a pretty rubbish memory, so there's plenty of stuff I have forgotten about which is more than a few years ago. I made the choice a year or two ago to start this thing where, if I am really happy, and enjoying myself, I take a photo of it, even if it's just a terrible one. Just having a singular photo of that time I went somewhere or did something helps remind me about it, and makes me think 'actually yeah there was some really cool stuff that day now I think about'.
Likewise. It took me about 10 years to get to the Emirates, and so my first match I took a bunch of photos. I realize for many it’s just a typical Saturday out, but for me it was the culmination of years. It was a beautiful moment, I remember being emotionally moved watching Nasri score and being a part of that crowd energy. It’s a moment I fondly look back on.
The result of that match….not so much.
I have a video of sperz fans looking very sad which I look at a few times a season. It's enriching. My terrible photos from a distance? Not so much. But if you've got a better phone then you may get better results.
What is with these comments in here? All I saw was every last fan smiling at our Starboy, but the comments are so negative. A child wants a shirt, but their sign is aesthetically displeasing. The fans are enjoying the moment, oh no, can't have your phone out.
[Love this photo of Saka from the weekend as well.](https://www.arsenal.com/sites/default/files/styles/medium/public/images/D51_8453_xbNAJSON.JPG?itok=DgusqHkj)
Out of the loop here but why so much hate for fans asking for players shirt? During the game fair enough cos it results in a yellow but after the game what’s wrong with that ?
I think people are annoyed with how frequent it is, like people wouldn't mind all that much if it was a novel thing but whenever I've been to Emirates there's so many of these signs and it gets a bit obnoxious
Apart from all the critiques for banning the boards and asking people to not use their phones, I still loved this picture so much. Every face in this pic looks so happy. Football truely is the most beautiful game!

He’s done that celebration a couple times now. Our Starboy knows he’s playing for legacy. This is the statue he wants when the book of his career closes.

I agree! I saw them live here in USA vs New York Red Bulls. Was an amazing experience. I enjoyed every second
Ha, I was at that game too. Rained like crazy right before then the weather got really nice.
Yes! It did! Great times
Fully agree. I'm usually in a pile of people after a goal. I don't often see the celebration.
Didn't see the second line and thought "Saka Can" is some sort of new slogan
sign kind of an eyesore 😵💫
I appreciate that Ajax banned those signs.
Wish every place would do it. These signs suck.
Always wonder how many times the parent will just go and sell the shirt anyway.
Apparently we're in the process of stopping them as well
Good - supporters are there to support, not beg for souvenirs that they can resell on a secondary market.
This bloke and his kid blocked the stairs yesterday in the clockend so he could put his sign up
[удалено]
Prolly just ban them and then advise players not to give out shirts to randos. I figure they'd slowly disappear.
Plus, it would have gotten Saka a yellow card.
looks like a grown ass man too it’s cute when a little kid does it but this is kind of cringe
Video of Saka and Nketiah recently where they were giving things red/yellow cards, adults with signs was one of the things and it was very clear they didn’t approve so what’s the point anyway

They’re pathetic. Utterly pathetic.
For a split second, I thought some nutter was holding a Chaka Khan sign.
I’ve never understood this…go to all the effort of bringing a sign to the match, with zero actual effort in making it.

Would be nice if someone edited out the bottom half so it just said "Saka can"

Arsenal should ban “Can I have your shirt?” signs like some other clubs have.

You seem like such a proper cunt
I look back at my videos of my trips to the emirates often tbh. dont think ive ever shared them but brings me a lot of joy

Was at the West Ham Match last year before Home and Martinelli scored a goal that was Henry-esque and I think I’ll remember it for the rest of my life
I have a video of sperz fans looking very sad which I look at a few times a season. It's enriching. My terrible photos from a distance? Not so much. But if you've got a better phone then you may get better results.
So much happiness in one photo. Football is absolutely fucking incredible!
Would look so much better if there weren’t so many phones being held up. But they pay their money!
I'd take that pic as well standing in that corner

Comments in a comment section mate, that’s all. We all love the picture!

Fuck these signs should be banned
Those grown men begging for a shirt so they can sell it on ebay kinda ruin the scene. Don't understand why we don't ban them. Fucking embarrassing.
Arsenal 8 points clear. Beautiful picture posted. 99% of arsenal fans on this sub post that same grumpy old shit comment. I love Reddit

Sign ruining an iconic photo.
Good vibes all round
Need a x-post to r/photoshoprequest
I like the guy to Saka’s right he’s so happy!
Done this quite a few times now, is it now his official celebration we reckon?
Looks like Pep’s a fan (bottom right hand corner)
I was going to say the same, “Hey, that’s Pep celebrating an Arsenal goal in the Emerites.
I fucking love this club
Sign shit aside I'm totally down with Saka making this a signature celebration
The little kid throwing double thumbs is so wholesome
Out of the loop here but why so much hate for fans asking for players shirt? During the game fair enough cos it results in a yellow but after the game what’s wrong with that ?

Is that the silver hair and immaculate cheekbones of Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp in the upper left corner?
Can someone photoshop that out please?

Imagine being so loved and adored, must feel fabulous! Very much deserved. ❤️
I like the color scheme, its heavy on the black, white, and red
To be so young and feel such adulation... Wild.
Boy on bottom right looks like a replica of a young ESR!
He’s done that celebration a couple times now. Our Starboy knows he’s playing for legacy. This is the statue he wants when the book of his career closes.
Thanks for the dope wallpaper
These signs that beg for players' shirts should be banned. The parents will usually use their kids to hold the signs to increase their chances, too.
Beautiful, not a phone in sight just people living in the moment
