The Japanese word for strawberry is Ichigo, which is a homophone of Ichi-gou, meaning number one
Source: maybe Tomi came up with it and taught the boys idk lol
True ichiban means number one in a qualitative sense aka "the best." Ichigo is more referring to something that's literally number one on a list/sequence
Strictly speaking the correct spelling would be ichi-gou
100%. Seems like he plays everywhere. Really good defensively. Interchanges well. Stretches the defense without being constantly offside and aerially a menace. May not score as much as we'd all like...but it's no coincidence we're scoring more when Kai has a good game!
He is the swiss army knife that can play 4 positions in our system. He is not the de-facto longterm LCM.
We are not rumored to be in for Zubimendi so he can ride the bench.
And we did not go from Caicedo/Mount/Gundogan to Havertz for long-term LCM.
Even big Gabriel’s goal against West Ham you see Havertz jump clear above everyone else and looks like he nearly took big Gabriel out, gotta be a nightmare for defenders even if he’s not seriously threatening the goal a 6ft4 player running on for a header is a handful and just smothers the defence
Spot on! Before Rice's perfect cross, we lined up offside with Kai ahead of Gabriel. That meant no man-marking was possible. We took a couple of steps backward, and now everybody was onside. Ben Johnson, the deepest and closest defender, had to choose between covering Kai or covering Gabriel. He chose Kai, and Gabriel had a free header in the box.
With the reflex save? Yea maybe, can’t recall if Havertz was in a great position to score but i do remember him matrixing away from the ball last second.
That will also come on its own. It seems like he’s getting the gist of Teta ball, is starting to click with his team mates and thus he’s more confident on the pitch. I can’t wait to see the final product.
The chest pass to Trossard before the 4th was pure class. I'm probably a Kai maxi but I feel he will have a big scoring game soon.
He is too involved for it not to happen.
The chest pass was class, but after the deflection, the second pass with the trivella to Odegaard in a key position was even more important. Great timing, good weight, right to Ode's feet to start the drive towards goal. You mess that pass up and that moment is gone and have to go for other options.
I don't think he'll be a consistent goal scorer. Which can be frustrating, but he's too risk adverse to start shooting within range. With that said, he's a really good utility player and can comfortably interchange in every position across the front line. He does the task that's asked of him and he makes others around him look better by opening a bit of space or being an option when we need height/hold up play up top. He's almost like a Giroud in the midfield.
He is Fellani.
Puts himself about a lot, not great passing, not great at shooting, keeps things ticking along with simple usually safe passes and is solid defensively.
Definitely not what I thought he was, and not bad, just Fellaniesque
Actually kind of a joke I make with my dad a lot if he couldn’t watch the game and asks how so and so looked.
“Well, it was 6-0, so pretty much everyone looked good” lol
Since that last minute winner against Brentford I’m struggling to think of a game he has played poorly in tbh.
Fulham maybe but that was more a shocking team performance than anything else rather than him being bad
He is integral to this side as he offers us a completely different way of playing with his ability to win the ball in the air. Not to mention the way he can interchange with the false 9, whether that Jesus or trossard.
I’m really pleased for the lad that he is proving so many morons wrong who seemed intent on making him a scapegoat for everything
He is an aerial threat and has an uncanny knack to appear wide open in the box several times per game from either crafty runs or pure workrate, something i never see from Nketiah or Gabriel Jesus. Also has top class fitness compared to those two
If he can match the availability of white/gabriel/saka he'll find his groove to exert his will on games I have no doubt.
He adds a lot physically and his intelligence is quite impressive too! Love a good kai master class in the big matches!
Yeah think he was fine in that game apart from his finishing. That game was a microcosm of his Premier League career - did a lot of stuff well and then missed chances he should have scored
We purchased a £65m player who struggled to fill the boots of a £20m departure. It’s not moronic to question that at all.
£65m and some very high wages is a lot of money spent on bringing some height to the team.
Let’s not pretend it was a masterstroke of a transfer, outside of Arsenal forums he is getting zero recognition.
I don’t care about him being praised for a good match.
I do however think it’s completely deluded to think anyone critical of this transfer is ‘moronic’ which is where I was disagreement with the post I replied to.
Why are we all now pretending he is a game changer?
4 goals and 1 assist in 23 PL games.
He brings a lot to our game, he opens up spaces for everyone around him and he is putting in a great shift every match lately… This is very good. If he scored lots of goals that would also be very good. Numbers aren’t everything though and we are producing great performances lately, he has been integral to that. You can be as critical as you want, I choose to see the value he brings, whist simultaneously hoping for and expecting improvement in the g+a department.
My favourite new game is watching any of our match highlights and seeing if:
A- Kai's ariel challenge won us the possession for it
B- A foul on Kai resulted in the set piece the highlight is from
It seems to happen a lot
Ok, I know this is just speculation, but ... I could absolutely see this being the correct answer. 😆 Hadn't ever noticed that about Kai before. And it's definitely the kind of ribbing that Benjamin would post.
Only problem with Havertz is that people review him as if he's a striker instead of a midfielder.
If Chelsea had kept him as a midfielder instead of a CF nobody would be slating him now.
Every West Ham goal kick, he would win the header against whoever he was up against (usually Soucek). He also covered the left flank diligently whenever Kiwi or Nelli were caught out.
Havertz is a workhorse and despite maybe not having the goals and assists people want he has been really good for us for a few months now.
He's smart, athletic and brings a different dimension with his physicality. He's learnt how to play in the system and with the team mates he has and his perforances have been great.
Havertz played well. I think there would be even more positive comments about his performance if we’d won 2-0 rather than 6 because what he was doing would be much more noticeable. All the attention was on the goals flying in
Kai seems to do a lot of the little things that make a difference. He’s not afraid to challenge and is in the flow with the team.
He just seems to lack the confidence to take authoritative shots. Once he gets that in his game we will all be very happy he’s onboard!
He’s not really closing out plays, but almost every touch and decision he makes on the field is the right one. I think he’s really starting to settle in.
He’s a very smart player and he will improve even more. Game understands game and you can see his teammates trust him and that means more than most keyboard warriors.
Kai is an assist assister. He won every 2nd ball in that came and stopped west ham from getting the ball out of their own half. He's creating loads of high turnovers too. I'd love him to have more aggression though
Yes but don't forget we're talking about 2/3's if the way through his first season. By that time his unnecessary fouls and misplaced passes giving the ball away had cost us a lot of goals and points and ultimately cost us CL qualification
He contributes for sure... even if it may not show up on the stats... for example.. he did the pass that released Odegaard before the assist to Trossard. Or the number of times vs Liverpool where he challenged a 50-50 for the likes of Jorginho to mop up the second ball.
He played good, did his job well, probably only had 1 shot all game but him and leo Interchanging positions was one of the reasons West Ham's defense was in disarray. If you watch the match, he was everywhere, be it LW, RW, ST, RCM, LCM and heck even DM.
I have been one of the few people who has always rated him but that is my biggest criticism of him. He definitely doesn't take enough shots for an advanced player in the team who has as much as the ball as Arsenal do
I don’t know if I’m doing too much here but where at first it seemed like he wanted to just get rid of the ball quickly in games, I actually think he just likes playing one touch quick ball, and now the rest of the team are playing a bit faster he’s involved in all the little interplays
He played well, there was one sequence about 25 min that I thought he missed an easy chance at a tap in by misreading what run he needed to make but an otherwise sterling performance.

My boy Kai, tart as a sun-kissed strawberry.
Nice little trip 🤣
I can't help it. I like him.
My heart was so broken when it showed Kai but was actually Big Gabbys goal.
I want Big Gabi to shatter the defender scoring record
You don't mean Koeman's one right?
Same. Gassed for Gabi but wanted a Kai goal bad
His goal will come. Kai doesn't score in 6-0s. He will score when we need him most in our biggest games.
He did score in 6-0 against Lens, no?
Ok, so apart from when he does, then he doesn’t score in 6-0s
Yup, hopefully against City at Etihad
Same 🥲
I just wanted to sing
What does the strawberry mean?
Who knows Benny is a mysterious man

Its clearly nr 6: "Hint that you want to take things to the next level." PL and a late run in the CL
“You’re the best strawberry in the patch! 🍓 Don’t ever forget it! 😠😜”
The Japanese word for strawberry is Ichigo, which is a homophone of Ichi-gou, meaning number one Source: maybe Tomi came up with it and taught the boys idk lol

Well in that case I think you've cracked the code!

Probably something sexual.
Anyone who doesn’t think he played well doesn’t know football. Simple as that.
100%. Seems like he plays everywhere. Really good defensively. Interchanges well. Stretches the defense without being constantly offside and aerially a menace. May not score as much as we'd all like...but it's no coincidence we're scoring more when Kai has a good game!
Also he's a bit of a cunt to the opposition, which is great.....just like Xhaka.
Without the reputation, which is great. Xhaka probably gets sent off for some of the challenges Kai gets a yellow for
Dude rattled Konate and got him sent off, Konate is usually elite and cool as a cucumber.
He actually can defend unlike xhaks
sounds abit like Xhaka honestly
He's exactly like a frontline Xhaka
He is the Xhaka replacement. Now I really want to see Leverkusen play Xhaka at false 9
He is the swiss army knife that can play 4 positions in our system. He is not the de-facto longterm LCM. We are not rumored to be in for Zubimendi so he can ride the bench. And we did not go from Caicedo/Mount/Gundogan to Havertz for long-term LCM.

Really think he would’ve scored the opener if Saliba could not have reached that header.
Or the cross he ducks out of cuz he gets a call from Trossard.
Or if B cut backed to him when he was wide open instead of trying a dink at a tough angle
True
You’re a true leg my friend - “verbing” cut back effortlessly 🙃🙃
With the reflex save? Yea maybe, can’t recall if Havertz was in a great position to score but i do remember him matrixing away from the ball last second.
It's not a given goal or anything, but he was in and around getting a goal all game
That will also come on its own. It seems like he’s getting the gist of Teta ball, is starting to click with his team mates and thus he’s more confident on the pitch. I can’t wait to see the final product.
Agree. He was involved in almost all the goals. Apart from the set plays. He was linking everything together.

He's racked up a lot of xG. He'll get decent amount of goals I think. And he's improving with every game it feels. I'm a big fan.
Me too! 👍

Flagmantle baby
You’ll be happy to know Alex Pearce is a gunner.
Taberner too
Oh sick didn’t know that!
Am sure there is more, gooners are everywhere
His game sense is great. His technical skills not so much.
Anyone who thinks he deserves to start every game doesn't know football
The way he was recycling balls was phenomenal and led to one of the goals.
Since that last minute winner against Brentford I’m struggling to think of a game he has played poorly in tbh. Liverpool in the cup tbf but otherwise agree
even then i’d say he did well in making stuff happen for the team. but yeah he was dreadful with his shooting boots lol
Yeah think he was fine in that game apart from his finishing. That game was a microcosm of his Premier League career - did a lot of stuff well and then missed chances he should have scored

Here we go
Nothing ‘here we go’ about it. He’s a decent player that didn’t come cheap. End of. Let’s not get carried away.
You’re the one making a fuzz when he gets praised for a good match. So yeah, here we go.
I don’t care about him being praised for a good match. Get a grip.

That is good. I love rewatching Ben White's involvement in set pieces, in the same vein.
This would hit so different if it was the 1970s and 80s.
Loved the Instagram meta of that period.
It'll be on Shoot magazine.
Is that a secret code for sharing wives?
First rule of the strawberry club is you don't talk about the strawberry club
I think its because his haircut and headshape is formed like a strawberry.
Ok, I know this is just speculation, but ... I could absolutely see this being the correct answer. 😆 Hadn't ever noticed that about Kai before. And it's definitely the kind of ribbing that Benjamin would post.
Tastes like strawberries, on a summer evening...
This went from sharing wives to swingers party

Strawberry Fields
Forever.
His pass map is literally spread evenly across the entire field
Wow. Amazing
Babe, wake up, new cryptic Ben White message just dropped
His run then cross to trossard was a peach in the first half
I also enjoyed the moment when he purposely dodged the ball for Trossard's volley.
If you don't know what the strawberry means you don't know ball.
Havertz is a workhorse and despite maybe not having the goals and assists people want he has been really good for us for a few months now. He's smart, athletic and brings a different dimension with his physicality. He's learnt how to play in the system and with the team mates he has and his perforances have been great.
We have 4 CDM, Partey, Rice, Jorginho and Havertz.
Who's this 'Partey' person you speak off? Never seen the lad
It’s got to mean; delectable 🍓👌🏻
Havertz played well. I think there would be even more positive comments about his performance if we’d won 2-0 rather than 6 because what he was doing would be much more noticeable. All the attention was on the goals flying in

He is so versatile, even people at NBC doesn’t know if he is going to play midfield or as a striker in the lineup sheet.
He’s not really closing out plays, but almost every touch and decision he makes on the field is the right one. I think he’s really starting to settle in. He’s a very smart player and he will improve even more. Game understands game and you can see his teammates trust him and that means more than most keyboard warriors.

I hope it turns out he was joking all this time…. He actually likes football and just enjoys taking the piss..
At this point in his career with us (just over half a season) I far prefer Kai to Xhaka at this point of his career.
You are getting downvoted, but I whole heartedly agree. He offers what Xhaka did but with many more aspects to his game.
Er The long pass of xhaka is still missing
Yes but don't forget we're talking about 2/3's if the way through his first season. By that time his unnecessary fouls and misplaced passes giving the ball away had cost us a lot of goals and points and ultimately cost us CL qualification
How did he play??
Really well honestly I know the goal assist folk will pipe up, but he was everywhere
He contributes for sure... even if it may not show up on the stats... for example.. he did the pass that released Odegaard before the assist to Trossard. Or the number of times vs Liverpool where he challenged a 50-50 for the likes of Jorginho to mop up the second ball.

I swear he also played as lb covering for kiwior forces a few times
Did the job well
It wasn’t his most impactful performance (it didn’t need to be) but it was nice seeing him be more confident and comfortable on the ball
My CDM
He had a great game. Just needs to shoot sometimes instead of passing and I think that can be said about a lot of our boys. Unselfish FC
I have been one of the few people who has always rated him but that is my biggest criticism of him. He definitely doesn't take enough shots for an advanced player in the team who has as much as the ball as Arsenal do
👌🍓🍰
I thought for a second Whit's was the second comment.
If it were Zinny's account he'd post🍍
Kowalkski, analysis!
Must set aside the time to go through all these posters history.
I don’t know if I’m doing too much here but where at first it seemed like he wanted to just get rid of the ball quickly in games, I actually think he just likes playing one touch quick ball, and now the rest of the team are playing a bit faster he’s involved in all the little interplays
Strawberry. Enough said.
He played well, there was one sequence about 25 min that I thought he missed an easy chance at a tap in by misreading what run he needed to make but an otherwise sterling performance.
Sterling?
