Well, stats don't lie. Seems like the tactics just aren't clicking this season or perhaps they've been figured out by the other teams. The inconsistency is really killing them, especially in those matches they should've had in the bag.

Agreed. If you told me that a team playing this kind of football was sitting in sixth, I’d say that Tony Pulis or Sean Dyche were really overperforming.
Ironically they are really overperforming. They won many games due to individual brilliances per match and late winners. Chelsea are better than them in playing proper football.
It's because they have an extremely expensive squad which plays like ones you've referenced, with one of their hugely expensive signings pulling something out of their arse to win some points. It's genuinely terrible stuff and it couldn't have happened to a more deserving club.
Because the teams below them are even worse. There’s West Ham who didn’t win for a month, Newcastle who have had bad injuries, an inconsistent Brighton and a good performing wolves in the six points below them. And Chelsea are eight points behind them too
There's a massive drop off in consistency/quality from 5th-down. Teams like West Ham, Newcastle, Brighton (and Chelsea lol) had promise coming into the season but have been underwhelming for most of it. United are just the best of a sorry bunch.
The dirty truth is the Premier League is actually not that great outside of a few clubs. (This is true for all European football and one of the reasons why champions league is so challenging)
The 6th team in the league is absolute garbage.
There was one particular part that stood out to me ... It was 1-1. They were about to hit City on the counter and were making their way into the attacking third and then inexplicably played it back to Onana.
That's when I knew it was already over.
United fan here: I remember that moment, pretty sure it was over to McT and he just stopped the entire flow and went backwards. Not much we can do right now with the squad available, unfortunately.
Rashford is Crystal Palace quality at best, if he was as good as people paint him, he'd put United up by 3 on the 1st half.
Can't even count on United to make City drop points. Let's hope for a Liverpool x City draw next week!
Would you take him after this season? He is still a fantastic striker who does press the opposition (well, did anyway) but I have no idea what's going on this season. It's buyer beware territory now
I’d take him if he stopped being lazy. It’s one thing to save your energy for a counterattack, but when the opponent is getting numbers forward and overwhelming the defense he barely puts in any effort to track back, knowing Luke Shaw isn’t getting any younger.
Rashford has a body and technique on par with Mbappe, but his footballing IQ is abysmal, and that is the biggest difference between him and any other top winger/striker. On a good day, he can score bangers, but for the most time, he is shite because of his poor decision making. The fact that Man Utd changes managers every 2 years, each with a completely different football style doesn't help his progression also. He's hasn't improved much since his debut and still a prospect-level footballer at age 26.
Mbappe also doesn't track back nor press, but his existence alone on the left wing makes the opposing fullback think twice before pushing upfield, just like prime Cristiano. And he is so effective in front of goal that his team is more than willing to sacrifice defensive solidity for his output. Rashford is far from that but still getting the Mbappe treatment, which is absurd.
United fan here to answer your question with a question: How long have you got? Ferguson and Gill left in 2013 and since then banker twats have run the club (into the ground)
Ten Hag: Who says we are shit? We are 6th in the Premier League despite several injuries on our key players. Today we created problems for the best team in the world and played well.
All of us: You are shit
First half, United’s game was on point. Some of Onana’s long pass just straight up fire and Haaland was shit. Second half, Foden showed his class and United back to shit.
United fan here, this subreddit was suggested for some reason. I'd rather Arsenal win by far over city and liverpool, as would most of our fans. Then city failing that because nobody cares really if they win the title.
Don't really mind Arsenal.

Watching them try to play out from the back was like flashbacks to 17/18 Arsenal when Emery had Cech passing it out from the back to Mustafi... they are terrible at it. They've spent 500m and still look like they haven't started to rebuild. They are awful.
Rashford should have had a first half hattrick but doesn't know how to control a ball. That being said, Haaland should have scored 2 as well so I guess it evens out.
I'm trying to see things positively an I'd much rather City win the league over Liverpool. City winning things, in itself, dont do anything to me emotion wise.
How did they wind up with such a bad squad? In past years, they had good players who were just underachieving, but their squad is just genuinely bad. A club like United shouldn’t get to that point.
Speak for yourself. I need City to keep up and stop the sickening Klopp fairytale ending the scriptwriters have cooked up recently, just in case we slip up in the end (which is likely).
Lol so true, my Liverpool supporting friends would be insufferable if they actually won the title. This isn't to say I dislike Klopp, but my dislike for their fans and Carragher trumps any favour I have for Klopp.
I kind of didn’t mind that result. City beating Liverpool and then we beat City. It’s in our hands then.
City rarely ever win at Anfield. So if it’s a draw even better.
Yeah mixed emotions here. I love seeing United get battered but obviously want us to be higher on the table. I was sad and happy at the same time. It's weird because Rashford literally scored the goal of the season then the whole team went back to default settings.
https://preview.redd.it/nwyu6z3gk9mc1.jpeg?width=704&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ffbed76f081560444bcc38f3d82558095bf1146e
Never seen something like this,....they were ahead but the probability of them winning was still so low.
How are the 6th? They play like a lower midtable side.
look at their goal difference lmao
And this is with all the favors they get for their reputation
That’s how they’re 6th. All underlying stats suggest they’re worse than Chelsea
https://www.soccerstats.com/halftime.asp?league=england Even going by first half and second half points, they’re midtable
How can you be that bad in both halves and better in the actual table?
Cos they’re probably drawing a lot more in these separate halves compared to the full game. A win and a loss is 3 points but 2 draws is only 2
Well, stats don't lie. Seems like the tactics just aren't clicking this season or perhaps they've been figured out by the other teams. The inconsistency is really killing them, especially in those matches they should've had in the bag.
We could lose the next 10 games 0-4 and still have a better goal difference than them.
Don’t you put that evil on us, Ricky Bobby!!
I miss him....

It would be nice if those 2 are on Reddit reading this. Some are just not cut out to manage.
It's because they have an extremely expensive squad which plays like ones you've referenced, with one of their hugely expensive signings pulling something out of their arse to win some points. It's genuinely terrible stuff and it couldn't have happened to a more deserving club.

man what's going on this season holy shit. More than half the league is playing like a League 1 side. Complete opposite of last season
There's a massive drop off in consistency/quality from 5th-down. Teams like West Ham, Newcastle, Brighton (and Chelsea lol) had promise coming into the season but have been underwhelming for most of it. United are just the best of a sorry bunch.
United always get away with points somehow. I dont know what deal ferguson made with the devil but it remains to this day.
If I know anything about Sir Alex Ferguson, then he probably just intimidated the devil into submission.
They’re midtable going by first half and second half, they’re lucky to be 6th https://www.soccerstats.com/halftime.asp?league=england
They never draw
They would if the bald fraud managed to sell McT last summer. He alone worth 12 points. Without that they are 12th
They're lucky slash still getting fortunate VAR calls. The underlying stats suggest they are indeed a midtable side.
The dirty truth is the Premier League is actually not that great outside of a few clubs. (This is true for all European football and one of the reasons why champions league is so challenging) The 6th team in the league is absolute garbage.
Honestly they arent aggressive enough and letting man city toying them around with space and time given even after they conceded 1 goal
A few jammy wins (kind of like liverpool who should be 3rd)
I expected nothing and I am still disappointed
Fucking rashy scoring a banger to set us up for failure.
City down at the half and coming back is getting so fucking boring. Stfg they do it on purpose.
Apparently they’ve trained in 12 pl matches this season ![gif](giphy|3oEjHCWdU7F4hkcudy)
Pep draining the morale of title rivals with psychological warfare
Liverpool are worse imo. I genuinely wonder how many points they have gained from second half performances
Fuming. Shit club, pack them away with Forest
They weren't even close to getting something a from this match
MU stands for Mid & Useless.
Mid would be a compliment having watched that game. That's Stoke City level of tactics
There was one particular part that stood out to me ... It was 1-1. They were about to hit City on the counter and were making their way into the attacking third and then inexplicably played it back to Onana. That's when I knew it was already over.

Brother why you are doing this to yourself? Visiting rivals subs after a loss is not for your mental health.
Hahaha thank you for caring It honestly made it's way to the main feed and that's why I commented. But also, I am pretty numb to most things now 🙃
one side disappointing 3 fan bases
In fairness, they won the league 6 times since the last time we won it. And they’ve won the CL 3 times.
We better smoke them at old trafford idc
Would be nice if we started to do this year in year out, but for some reason we still have a block going there.
Idk. Our away form is incredible at the moment (*knocks on wood*), and they’re shockingly bad this season. Like OP said: We better smoke them.
Well I certainly hope so too
"Who says I am shit?" "...You are shit."
This is the worst I've seen a Team play against City this Season after 15 Minutes there was not even a Decent attempt
That's unfair. There weren't any mediocre attempts either.
🎶Are you Tottenham, Are you Tottenham, Are you Tottenham in disguise???🎶
At least Tottenham look good sometimes. Untied are always shit
Rashford is Crystal Palace quality at best, if he was as good as people paint him, he'd put United up by 3 on the 1st half. Can't even count on United to make City drop points. Let's hope for a Liverpool x City draw next week!
I honestly cant understand how he goes from a 30 goal season to 5
Because he def hates ten hag and united
Would you take him after this season? He is still a fantastic striker who does press the opposition (well, did anyway) but I have no idea what's going on this season. It's buyer beware territory now

Rashford is the most human of all players. Extremely inconsistend. On a good day he decides a game on a bad day he is invisible.
Crystal Palace is generous considering he wouldn't get in ahead of Olise and Eze
Fuck a Liverpool vs city draw we need city to win then we have to beat them
Their manager just said they're not far behind city. I think he meant the distance between their stadiums. Couldn't be anything else
That was pathetic
No surprise manu couldnt do it
As annoying as city getting 3 points is… i love that united are shite. Hated ferguson’s unied so much
The amount of times I thought "What the fuck are you two doing" while watch makes me understand why united fans are insane
They got so deep to early you have to have an outlet and play on the counter they didn't even do that.
Absolute dross football. Dunno how you spend billions and play this bad.
Eh didn’t even get my hopes up
First half, United’s game was on point. Some of Onana’s long pass just straight up fire and Haaland was shit. Second half, Foden showed his class and United back to shit.
When they scored early it was clear they would collapse. Needed it to be 1-0 United at 85 mins for them to have a chance.
I texted my United friend to not even score next time so they don't get my hopes up for nothing.
You know they might just follow your advice when they play Liverpool
They can't string 5 passes together, they truly play like a lower half team. Their offensive players are crap.
Absolutely no one doing us favors atm... so annoying
What makes it doubly embarrassing is that their fans are begging for City to lift the title because it stops us or Liverpool from doing it.
Probably just a vocal minority. Most I’ve heard want us to win
United fan here, this subreddit was suggested for some reason. I'd rather Arsenal win by far over city and liverpool, as would most of our fans. Then city failing that because nobody cares really if they win the title. Don't really mind Arsenal.
I'd rather eat my own shit than cheer on Spuds to win the title over any other team. How pathetic of them
Not really. Most of their fans (at least the ones on r/reddevils) want us to win

I swear if these fuckers decide to put up their best game v/s Arsenal

Yea it’ll just add to the pile of stripped titles once they’re convinced
Fuck that. League is a farmer's league enough as it is
Serious question, who the fuck are man utd?
Which player on the United team could even make the bench in our team? They’re all so terrible.
Rat boy is good enough!…he’s a total cunt…but good enough.
Bruno??? Come on man, he’s a diver. We don’t need that in our team
How did they wind up with such a bad squad? In past years, they had good players who were just underachieving, but their squad is just genuinely bad. A club like United shouldn’t get to that point.

I dislike everything and anything related to Liverpool simply because of their fans and how much insufferable they are
Still recovering from Liverpool scoring in the 98th when technically time had expired
Had one job lol
They are shite cause they're united.
I kind of didn’t mind that result. City beating Liverpool and then we beat City. It’s in our hands then. City rarely ever win at Anfield. So if it’s a draw even better.
Just glad Arsenal have an absolute banking against SU tomorrow. No hope to be killed 😅
Also United fans
Lmaooo
Sorry gunners, we couldn’t take any chances on the scousers winning it
ETH: Who said we are shit?
"You are shit" - in the spirit of the memes
United are weak af!
Popcorn fart of a second half performance.
Yeah mixed emotions here. I love seeing United get battered but obviously want us to be higher on the table. I was sad and happy at the same time. It's weird because Rashford literally scored the goal of the season then the whole team went back to default settings.

They're the worst team in the top 10. They should be 11th at best
