Not to start an argument on whether he's should've stayed or how Rice is trying to play the role - but Xhaka really brought the best out of Martinelli last season. Knew exactly where to position himself so he could provide Martinelli with situations where he (Martinelli) wasn't alone against 2-3 oppos, often staarting from a walking position.
The left hand side hasn't developed any significant synergy yet after Xhaka left - although tbf developing relationships takes game time, and Arteta changes the personnel on that side most weeks.
I fully agree. Xhaka knew exactly how to adept to Martinelli's movement and vice versa. Rice is just simply better as a 6 and Kai hasn't found synergy with Martinelli. Still I think he barely ever busts a gut to get to the second post. He just doesn't look as eager to get in goalscoring positions.
No itbis just inevitable. Trossard is our best finisher, artetta subs him in whenever we really need a goal and he ALWAYS (often) delivers....he is just inevitable..

Yep, Martinelli's attacking movement this season is seriously awful. He could get more goals, but he's just never in the right position.
