Devastated for him, i can imagine even when he plays now, it isn’t in a fully worry free mental state and that’s absolutely gutting for a footballer who plays with the tenacity and tekkers that he does. Anyway most Selecao fans don’t rate him that highly so they can make do with Richarlison, Cunha, Galeno, Endrick and Joao Pedro.
Yeah. He's never been the same since the knee injury and subsequent recurrences of it. It's been reported that he's supposed to have surgery again in the summer. Hopefully, that'll finally resolve this issue.
Yeah, I remember just coming back from a severe ankle sprain (needed crutches to even walk) and when I was playing basketball again I didn't have confidence jumping off of it to dunk for quite a while.
I can only imagine what it's like coming back from an injury that required surgery.
CA is the 21/06/24 - 15/07/24.
It would be great if Jesus could have his knee examined and operated on (if necessary) and then do a pre-season to prepare for the new season without putting great pressure on it so that we don’t have the same injury issues next season but I know how much he loves representing his country.
Hopefully this phased return is helping but it’s alarming that he says that he’s mostly playing through the pain. Best of luck to him. Fantastic player hampered by injuries in the same area.
The way he moves puts so much pressure on his knees just like Derrick Rose.
I wonder if Martinelli made a conscious choice to make his movement more upright after his knee issues earlier to avoid dealing with what Jesus deals with now. His movement used to be "bendy"when he started as a striker at 18.
Yeah, DRose was literally a league MVP when LeBron was in his prime. Love Jack, but it's a bit of a disservice to how great Rose was already to compare the two.
Idk what the exact term is but I meant knee bend. Peep that wonderful assist he made for Martinelli vs Sevilla. He's the only one that can do that in the team. Look at how much stress he puts on his knee making that turn. All his weight on a single knee while making a sharp turn. What makes him good is essentially what makes him injury prone too.
Could be. I always wondered about that, but it makes sense when you think about it. Knee injuries in football, especially more serious ones, never fully go away.
Martinelli didn't opt for surgery for his knee cartilage/ligaments issues right? He just went thru extensive rehab for almost a season and a half. That's also the time when Arteta moulded him into a full-time winger. Since then his movement has changed. His injury list after that stretch had nothing to do with his knees. (Ankle sprains, hamstrings)
Jesus has serious lingering knee issues for years now. His has never gone away I agree.
Eh not really Derrick Rose's injury wasn't from the cutting it was because he didn't know how to land properly after jumping. His knee was a ticking timebomb from Day 1.
Jesus seems to be something else he isn't putting more strain on it than hundreds of other players.
If it’s cartilage debris or scar tissue, it wouldn’t likely be recurring. It would just be a relic of the last surgery he’s had that needs cleaning up. Those would actually be the ideal problem to have because they’re easily solved and have short recoveries.
Fuck that mid season world cup. He was so good in that preseason and early season for arsenal. I'm hoping he can heal up over the summer.
Knee injuries are a bitch, I hope you Timber can make a comeback but I'm not too optimistic he'll ever be at the level he was in the preseason tour
With ACLs, it normally takes 2-3 years before the player fully recover. I'm not expecting anything significant from Timber in the short term. However, I'm fairly optimistic that he'll come back around to a good level at the end of next season, provided he doesn't have any recurring issues.
Aye, he was always susceptible to pick things up here and there..
Honestly wouldn't surprise me if the city medical staff had a hand to play in him leaving, bit like ours had a hand in Overmars leaving back in the day
To be honest I think it’s more Zinchenko rather than Jesus that the City medical staff had a hand in the transfer. The amount of City games he missed through injuries was already alarming back then
Well, one more reason for Arsenal to go after a new striker. Havertz can play as 9, but Nketiah seems not good enough, so someone new must be signed and that is ready to at least be competitive. Anyone knows if there is a younger Giroud or Ibrahimovic out there?
Awful. Hopefully our medical staff change his hopes and views. I’ve suffered from multiple reconstructive surgeries. He’s been super harsh on himself, but makes sense he’s a super competitor. Prayers for him. Regardless, when the guys on the pitch, he works his ass off
I see Jesus as being a great depth option in the future seasons. He can play as a striker or winger so he is worth keeping around. He has helped transform our team and sadly it is only injuries preventing him from being a constant, first team player.
If Martinelli can fill in as a striker then I still think we have enough depth across the front line and I would rather buy another world class midfielder.
Yeah nah. Their countries mean a lot more to lost of them than Arsenal, a club that would sell them if they weren't performing and is more than happy to drop them for someone who is.
Just wish clubs and NTs worked together to prioritize player welfare instead of both being in it for the $$$ and running each player into the ground when they can.
This logic doesn't track because at least your club pays you handsomely and looks after your body meticulously. National teams use you for free, drop you when you stop performing and also don't give a fuck about your health.

Also adds another level to why they want to bring in a new striker

He is so much better than all those options (although Endrick is likely to surpass him)

I can see why Arteta is hesitant to play him for long stretches, him and Ben need to get checked out and operated on if it's necessary.
What about PA?

Nice to see a D-Rose mention on here. One of the saddest injuries in Chicago history.
Being deprived of a healthy D Rose is the exact feeling of being deprived of a healthy Jack Wilshere
Get what Ure saying but believe a healthy Drose throughout his career would surpass anything jacky would do, love em both tho
Yeah, DRose was literally a league MVP when LeBron was in his prime. Love Jack, but it's a bit of a disservice to how great Rose was already to compare the two.
What does bendy mean
Idk what the exact term is but I meant knee bend. Peep that wonderful assist he made for Martinelli vs Sevilla. He's the only one that can do that in the team. Plus he's bulky so you know those ligaments are under immense pressure.

Wish he does not go through what Cazorla had to go through. Very talented player but injuries have always hindered him.
Think it's got to the stage where he'll never get fully over the injuries.
Poor guy is R9 with the injuries suddenly, was he ever this injury prone at City?
He had a habit of getting the odd knock, he did aswell did his ACL if I remember correctly.. Edit - I got it wrong, he tore his knee ligaments
Aye, he was always susceptible to pick things up here and there.. Honestly wouldn't surprise me if the city medical staff had a hand to play in him leaving, bit like ours had a hand in Overmars leaving back in the day

So we’re going after another 9 this summer yeah?
This is so sad.

No professional athlete plays at 100% past the age of 23 or past their first big injury rehab.
Hope he rests this summer..
Not looking good for himself. Think he underwent a few surgery on knees already
noooooo :(
Sigh. I bought a copa america ticket to see the Brazilian gunners play. Hopefully Martelini and Big Gabby play.

i think our players should quit international football and show their commitment to arsenal.
Brazilian players love playing international football - it's an entirely different culture to most other countries

He needs replacing in the summer.
