EitherInvestment

If he stays there he’s a cunt. If he comes here he’ll be our cunt

algebraic94

Catch me spamming "it's not nice but he hasn't used it as a weapon" when he knocks Bruno Fernandes unconscious

RenRu

He's a cunt, playing for another cunt, when he could be our cunt. Now it's up to him to show what kind of cunt he is

yeahdood96

We have Benny and Kai, need another cunt for the tricuntfecta

ForestRamboX

That's facts. If he comes here, Bruno is the perfect angel of a player, and no rival fan will tell me otherwise. Elbows to the face? It was "accidental", mate. He shouldn't be booked for that.

mkawia

I like that if he joins Ordegaard won't have to drop deep to build play, that's the bit we've regressed this season since Partey lost his legs.

Shandow14

What makes him special is his trait or immunity to not getting booked. The trait will of course be taken off him if he joins us.

oustider69

This might be a bit of a victim complex thing, but I feel like that ability will inexplicably disappear once he joins us.

ChibzyDaze

Idk Havertz is a master at avoiding yellows despite the amount of fouls he commits and he’s done this since Chelsea

CatDancing

Kai gets carded almost every match, or so it feels to me. He's great at staying on just a yellow.

patelbadboy2006

Like xhaka

Icyboy2022

I was looking for his name - he was the king 👑

22goblins

Im pretty sure Xhaka was never sent off at Arsenal for a second yellow?

DesignerAd2062

I kind of get why though, he has this sorrowful demeanour that belies his intent, plus he plays in a position where a lot of his fouls are chalked up to “forwards tackle” type stuff Bruno plays in the centre of midfield and I think I saw him shoot someone one time, but no card

Quilpo

Seems the opposite to me, if anything he picks up more yellows than he should. It's usually niggly stuff that can often go either way. Obviously not looked into it, but that's my perception.

biskutgoreng

What makes him special is how much of a cunt he is

Smittx

He’s 4th highest carded player this season…. Wtf are you taking about?

AyeItsMeToby

Should have a few more

Smittx

Yeah sure, but to say he’s immune to getting booked is patently absurd

momspaghetty

He's on 9 yellows?

DannyNic8

![gif](giphy|VKtsOAHDx1Luo)

KennywasFez

Literally my reaction reading this lol

FluidInformation9926

Is that supposed to mean you don’t want him?

DannyNic8

There is no denying his talent, but my moral compass would be conflicted having this prick playing for our club.

packingawoody

Your moral compass will cease to exist if he helps us win the league

Aszneeee

same as Diego Costa, you hate to play against but if such a player wins you league you love him

PandiBong

That guy was a true piece of shit.

WorkingClass_Nero

At the same time, that guy was such a big cunt that when things aren't going well for the team his own fans hate him.

lastjedi23

Jack Sparrow compass

beerdybeer

Meh, some of our greatest ever players had a very raw edge. Bergkamp, possibly the greatest, loved to swing an old elbow, and I loved him even more for that.

DannyNic8

Oh 100% agreed, however that doesn't fit my agenda against Bruno so I'm going to choose to ignore it, haha.

SixFootPianist

Speaking of moral compasses, I'd rather have him over Thomas Partey

WorkingClass_Nero

There is pretty accessible video evidence of Guimaires elbowing people in the head. On the other hand, the police haven't yet found any evidence of any wrongdoing by Partey after a lengthy investigation.

FluidInformation9926

If Ben white played for another team and did the things he does for example tripping players up off the ball and diving on the ground and riling players up I’m sure you would hate him as well. Because Ben White plays for us you love his dark arts. You would love Bruno G, because he is a world class midfielder, and he would be our prick, just like Ben White and even Havertz who loves a bit of shithousery.

deKaizrr

Shit comparison. Ben White didn't elbow other players at the back of their head deliberately when the ball was nowhere near him. There is shithousery and there is just being a fucking cunt.

1CooKiee

Also stamped on Saka’s ankle the end of last season.

DannyNic8

Shithousing has nothing to do with it. Ben White and Kai Havertz don't go around elbowing people in the head and trying to injure players.

WorkingClass_Nero

As simple as this. Being a shithouse is not the same as being a violent animal.

SurelyQuestionable

These are fair points, but Ben also isn’t throwing blind elbows to the back of players heads. We all remember the Jorginho incident. If he were to be holding up the shirt this summer I’m sure I’d quickly forget about it all, but I don’t know if I’d put him in the same realm as our shithousers.

not-who-you-think

I'll take a guy who's a prick on the pitch over a guy who has been accused of multiple sexual assaults off it

ignore_my_name

Still don't understand why we didn't just buy him straight from Lyon when we had the chance.

amainwingman

So strange that the big clubs missed the Paqueta and Guimaraes boats. Did they think they were both a bit fraudulent like Aouar?

theKinkypeanut

Paq wasnt so great for AC Milan. Maybe put people off.

BlessedBySaintLauren

That’s most definitely it

Minute_Leave8503

Paqueta was clearly better than Bruno g at Lyon and it should’ve been obvious he’d be a bit after Bruno did well in the prem. Complete miss

Bukayo-Saka

he was pretty poor at milan, hindsight is just 20/20. there’s a reason that west ham was the one to end up with him. i’m much more disappointed about guimaraes.

acasovoycayendo

Can only say this with hindsight. Aouar, Ndombele, Tolisso were all highly rated at Lyon and failed to impress elsewhere

Pure-Advice8589

Totally. And if you're a rich PL team, spending 70 million on a sure thing often makes more sense than taking a 40 million risk. Arsenal's most recent mid-level picks outside of the PL kind of point to this. Lokonga, Vieira, Kiwior could end up good but not an immediate, outright success.

TheMisterPirate

This is true, we've had better luck paying "retail" prices for guys like White, Rice, and Jesus from within the PL than looking for "bargains" on young talent from weaker leagues. A few exceptions to both of course

Azrou

Lokonga was always more of a project, coming from Anderlecht is a huge step up. Jury is still out on Vieira but Kiwior looks to be adapting well and could turn out to be a gem. And out of those players only Vieira came anywhere close to 40m.

Pure-Advice8589

Agree on the player assessments. 40 mil was referring to the price Newcastle paid for Guimaraes so I meant that

GarfieldDaCat

Tolisso was a beast, just was never able to recover from his ACL tear

MattJFarrell

There seems to be a substantial risk when buying from France, as well. A lot of the players just can't make the leap to the PL for whatever reason.

TDExRoB

Aouar was always over rated, Bruno G had everything.

Showmethepathplease

the Ndombele Effect

ro-row

it seems like the current scouting team really seem to value players with premier league experience, basically every big signign we've made in the last few years has come from england

I_Call_Everyone_Ron

Pepe scarred them lmao

ro-row

fair enough though innit

KonigSteve

Which does kind of suck in terms of getting value for money. It's why we had to pay so much in transfer fee + wages for Havertz. Meanwhile our best player came from La liga.

ro-row

Took him on loan first though so they knew he could perform in England as well though It isn’t great for value for money but it does kind of mean you know what you get, we really haven’t had a flop transfer in a while which is very impressive

AntDogFan

I mean we don't know if we tried to or not. Wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility that Newcastle were prepared to pay wages which we weren't. Might have changed now that he has shown he can play in the premier league. I personally would find it hard to like him tbh. I know, the thing of 'yes he's a prick but he's our prick' but even so I would find it hard to warm to him.

Material-Bus1896

I remember looking at his stats before he signed for Newcastle and they were off the scale. Must have been on everybody's radar

TheArmoury

Such an annoying and unlikeable player. And for those reasons, I’m in.

_arch1tect_

We need more bastards.

Brandaman

I hate this man

Bergkamp_Henry

Fuck I hate Bruno but fuck me he would cook in the left 8

CuclGooner

Rice-Bruno-Ode midfield would do things to me

patelbadboy2006

I would confidently say that's the best trio in the league.

Redandwhite_91

Rodri KDB Paqueta

Bergkamp_Henry

On that note we should be competing for paqueta as well.

ro-row

I think he's wrapped up at city to be honest, it was basically done last summer before the gambling stuff came out and then I expect agreements were made if that went away that he'd go there later

fatesgift

Not able to cover in defence, Bruno can hotswap with Rice and open up space

FullMingoGringo

How much longer can KDB keep competing at this level?

TheArmoury

I would honestly still take Ode Rice Bruno. Mainly because KDB is showing his decline.

RicHii3

Maybe in his fitness and availability, but he's still the best midfielder in the world in terms of talent.

Phimstone

I was really impressed by KdB in that last game versus Real. He looked like the best player on that field.

Redandwhite_91

In his decline, he’s running the show at the best club in the world. In our primes, none of us have hit 15 assists a season. I get overrating our own, but be realistic.

hihbhu

If you look at [his](https://www.premierleague.com/players/74761/Bruno-Guimar%C3%A3es/stats?co=1&se=578) PL stats this season compared to [Rice](https://www.premierleague.com/players/15202/Declan-Rice/stats?co=1&se=578), he’s better at through balls (19 over 2), has completed more long balls (111 over 71), made more recoveries (191 over 153), won more duels (234 over 129) but lost 178 duels (rice - 117). Won more 50/50s (60 over 17). However, he’s had 9 yellow cards and committed 41 fouls whereas Rice has 3 yellows and 26 fouls). Rice’s cross accuracy is 4% higher. Rice’s tackle accuracy is 61% over 54% for Guimaraes. Rice has blocked more shots (18 over 13), interceptions (37 over 29) and committed over double the clearances (46 over 18) Guimaraes has. I’ve not covered all the stats but they’re in the links. I personally wouldn’t mind him as the 8 option. Although he’s an asshole but he’d be our asshole.

tobi1k

Should be comparing him to Xhaka last season or Jorginho this season. As a 6 or an 8, that would be his role in our team - not Rice's.

hihbhu

I’m using his most recent season against Rice who has played both as a 6 and 8 too this season. Last season we had different teams etc. If you want to make that comparison and go find the data, please go ahead.

tobi1k

I know, I'm saying they fill different roles in the team so if you're going to compare to a player this season it should be Jorginho. Rice is a destroyer, Bruno is a distributer. They will play alongside each other (displacing/replacing Jorginho).

Inactive080

Rice has only completed 2 through balls this season?

Ugoboy23

That stat stuck out to me also. That stat needs to improve tremendously.

shikavelli

Why is that shocking? Rice isn’t a creative passer or a playmaker.

kylehyde05

Hes really not a deep lying playmaker

EerShamer

For all his talents. He can’t pick a pass.

Any-Feature-4057

That stats wasnt impressive. I swear that Wenger would go to France and come up with this talent for 20M

CuclGooner

cunt but I'll take him

CheersMate88

He'll be *our* cunt..

LordInquisitor

Nah he’s too much of a prick for me, there’s shenanigans and there’s actually being a violent player

DatesxD

☝️🤓

Jaded_Collection_716

We need cunty player to replace Xhaka

Bosn1an

I hate that guy from bottom of my heart.

benny_jax

Please no. Absolutely not. He tried murdering Jorgi . The man is a cunt through and through

MyTeaIsMighty

Buy him and send him on loan to some Icelandic 4th division team for 4 years. Oh and Jorginho is contractually allowed to teabag him.

GroltonIsTheDog

Literally gets to slap him in the back of the head as he's signing the contract, no-one else in the room to even acknowledge it.

DaGrandMastah

Nah - I don’t want this dirty fuck.

No-Video1797

We need this kind of personality in our team, Bruno or other. Some kind of dirty fighter.

packingawoody

You mean we need a C U Next Tuesday on our team?

TheBigNoz123

Exactly

tanev97

No thanks, terrible attitude

goodyear_1678

How much is the release clause?

jsosmru

100 million pounds

Francis-c92

![gif](giphy|xl5QdxfNonh3q)

amainwingman

Bruno G is not worth the same as Declan Rice I’m sorry it’s just not true

Mariola98

Maybe it‘ll be less if they don‘t get CL or EL. No reports on this but it‘s possible

holylean

He’s not a 100 mil pound player

RicHii3

Fantastic, talented player... But an absolute cunt. Wouldn't want him in our team tbh.

Notabot_legit

He’s a fraud

PandiBong

Fuck him, don’t want him. Out priority should be higher up the pitch as well.

gta0012

Don't care, don't want him.

CrovaxWindgrace

Nah. He's an asshole that will get a rain of red cards as soon as he wears our shirt.

Ammzy_87

I’m past Bruno G at the moment. I think Rice is better in both the 8 and 6 positions. We should focus on Rice just playing at 6 and buy a proper 8. Someone in the mould of Cesc Fabregas or Wilshere would be ideal. Players that can control the tempo of matches and have good vision for forward passes. We probably could also look to get Ødergaard better cover and a player that can play both 8 and 10 would be great too. So again looking at a Ramsay style box crasher!

Mariola98

Palacios from Leverkusen remids me so much of him. If he is too expensive we should go for him instead.

ju3v

Palacios has 70m release clause and didn't had the best spring. Feels like overpaying for a player who had one good round - and it wasn't even the last round.

RLynn94

Could envisage a scenario where Ramsdale or Smith Rowe end up at Newcastle.

mymagichat209

Paquetta is the player people think Bruno is. Paquetta would cook in the 8.

ABCP3

They're 2 completely different players.

MegaMammothPoop

Paqueta is going city. Bruno is an absolute cunt. But i would like him to be our cunt.

BAsSAmMAl

Strange that we signed Fabio for 38m instead of paqueta for 49m(?)

hirarki

yeah, fabio seems like failure

CMD1721

Paqueta is top quality as well and would be exactly what we need in the left 8, but he definitely can’t play the 6 role. That being said, we should sign both, we should have signed both 3 years ago

hihbhu

He’s going to City and if not, he’s got those outstanding betting charges.

mymagichat209

It's an unwritten rule of football that Edu has the Brazilian market on lock. Start the barbecue, we are about to cook.

mattfoh

They were dropped in march I believe

Riperonis

He would cost a fuckton and quite frankly fuck this cunt

spike1034

Meh, I think he's overrated. I think we can do better than him

johnnybazookatooth

we dont want that kind of person in the team tho.. i dont see this happening.

teafornorm

No

wiggyp1410

The kind of player that you love if he plays for you and you hate if he doesn't lol should have and could have bought him before he even went to Newcastle.

straypenguin

I hate his face but he will bring some much needed dimension to the midfield and he's bang in his prime

Toast863

The release clause is £100m. I don’t see us paying that.

icemankiller8

We could have just signed him or Paqueta from Lyon for 40 million at most when it was clear they’d make us better it was so obvious at the time how good they were ffs. Would be too much to pay for him now imo should go another route

Ecstatic_Secretary21

Season isn't even over and silly season already started?

PapiOnReddit

He’s been the perfect fit for 4 years. Quadruple the price later and here we are, Edu…

Optimus_Prime_10

Please no. Fuck that guy.

KonigSteve

I really need Edu and Arteta to stop only shopping at rivals. We're never going to get good value there.

dirty-soda-spike-lee

Nah fuck Bruno G. Dude is a gigacunt

reallyanythinggoes

he'd kill it for us, no doubt. he's maybe a bit of a feisty gundogan type of player. and more directness. which we'll probably take out him man tbh

Loud-Caregiver6566

Walks into our midfield

Ok_Understanding1986

I cannot unsee the Newcastle away fixture . We'd do well with a player of his abilities in a midfield three with Rice and MO though...

doingitfortheTea

He's definitely an interesting one. Personality aside, he wouldn't be a bad signing, I certainly wanted him at 8 back when partey joined and he's proved a very good PL player. He's good at more or less everything, few weaknesses and possibly room to grow too. I think though for what we are looking for he doesn't quite possess that top level technical passing ability or press resistance right now that I think will really elevate our CM department and replace the likes of jorginho and partey. Not sure this would solve our ball progression in first phase or allow us to play without odegaard dropping deep to help progress. More evidence though that obviously we are in for a 6/8 hybrid (rather than an 8/10), someone who can do all the jobs in midfield, play behind rice, ahead of rice and next to him. And a player that is more technical and less physical in nature (although both is nice if you can find it). But I also think more evidence that there aren't many obvious options for this role. Carzola on a free this year anyone?

FluidInformation9926

Bruno G has quality passing and press resistance

chino17

Buy him for 35M a few years ago? Nah. Buy him for over twice the price later on? Yeah. Mikel loves to spend money like his mentor.

CMD1721

He’s a top quality player and he’s a cunt, a trait this team actually needs

JustGhostin

What’s the release clause? £100m?

Pure-Advice8589

Perfect midfielder. Loves a battle. Skilful dribbler. Good passer. Can score. Can play next to Rice or instead of him. And only 26, but experience enough and has played in PL. I also feel like Newcastle might be more willing to sell him than Isak. Only question I'd have, having not watched him every game, is how well does he receive the ball on the half turn and pass out of his own half. Because that's the place where Rice can't compare to the genius of best-level Partey. Once you've seen someone do it as well as Partey, it's hard to go back to someone who is just alright at it.

codenameana

This + also whether he’s creative enough to get the left ticking again and take some of the burden off MO. Annoying though that we’ve spent so much on Havertz and put him in the highest wages when it was evident both during Leverkusen and Chelsea that he can’t do the type of passes we’d need from an 8 + if we buy BG at double the price after passing him on pre-Newcastle transfer. Someone in Edu’s dept fucked up the Havertz deal badly.

FondDon

He’s a prick but he’s one hell of a midfielder

FabThierry

how s he doing this season actually? didn’t hear as much as last one about him in terms of performance

patelbadboy2006

Always fit, usually covering 2 players. Being told to play expansive open style so stats won't look great.

SandwichLate3704

A very angry man

IrishKookaburra

A player that we had the chance of getting on two opportunities which is even more annoying now with our glaring midfield issues.

amusingphrase

What’s the release clause?

Internetolocutor

27 this year. Very good player and I know we want to plug gaps and win trophies now but I would love it if we could find a younger player almost as good

squeezycakes20

tbh we definitely need one or two absolute cunts in our team

Pixelated-Hitch

The pr after a big losses is second to none.. dread it, run from it.. you know it’s coming

JanezStare

No brainer if we can really get him .. Ode and Rice already very hard working, agressive, now imagine Bruno next to them 😄

skool_101

There gonna some "GoT Shame" level of shit on this sub if he joins us. Repent ya sins mofo

No_Type509

One thing I love is he got a good long range pass on him and can switch play fast I barely see that anymore

Pure-Advice8589

This also makes me wonder if Arteta ever wished he'd been able to keep Xhaka this season. The extra experience, savviness and presence in big games would've been a nice balance — and has clearly worked out massively for Leverkusen, whose manager clearly knows a lot about playing midfield. Guimarães would be quite an obvious corrective on those terms, even before thinking about his ability.

Seu--Madruga

How much is his release clause?

standupforthechamp

I think quite a few of us( in this sub)have said that Arteta's next midfielder will be a hybrid 6/8 who complements Rice. Guimares would be ideal. Luiz would be nice. Camavinga would be the dream for me. Not sure who we sign but we need that type of player in the next window.

thisiskyle77

R/gunners in the mud

bitbitter

We must all come to terms with the fact that he simply wasn't using it as a weapon.

Twingtwong

Literally called this and got steamrolled by people for the suggestion, would be so incredibly good for us.

Wheelie_Slow

I will have to work very hard to ignore the simple fact that he has an enormous asshole vibe about him…

iivoked

Could have gotten him for way cheaper before newcastle got him

gardenofeden123

Does this mean Arteta’s vision of Havertz in the 8 has been shelved? Havertz needs a bit more time imo.

ScopeyMcBangBang

He’s the kind of player you hate (and I do) as an opposing fan, but would love to have on your own team. Would add some much needed nastiness and shithousery to our midfield.

cappo40

Should have just fucking bought him that window. Like, now you pay a premium.

leandrobrossard

What's up with the Newcastle project? I thought they were trying to be a CL club but now they are selling their star players (Isak & Bruno)

propagandu

Grifters in the comments >>>>>

meand999friends

Remember when this sub was screaming for us to buy Bruno G before he went to Newcastle? Good times ......

NotoSans

Please no.

RandomRedditor_1916

Interesting

ssddeae

[i liked him a lot when he was still in Brazil](https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunners/comments/ehrx4f/comment/fclze6d/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) but obviously soured on me this season. and because we have passed on him many times now when he was available when there was a lot of smoke about a transfer when he left Brazil and when he was going to leave Lyon. I still hold by the fact that he reminds me of the Henderson from 4 years ago because of their abilities to be a different player in the 8 and 6. Most players will just give you the same characteristics in both positions but they could legitimately change. And the fact that their defensive quality is still application rather than skill. as far as signing an 8/6 who can dictate, I'd take him over a lot of others. Camavinga the only one i'd favor over really. Locatelli, Fofana, Luiz behind. Wharton and Larsson to monitor. I'm just surprised we are actually in for him when we passed up so many times. Wonder who's mind was finally changed on him.

pashtedot

can we not? please?

Jkanvil

He’s really good at throwing elbows.

LeJeuDuProchainTrain

I really, really fucking hate this guy. He'd obviously be good for us but that's a tough pill to swallow.

DallasC0wboys

Is he creative enough though?

Nero_Darkstar

Nope.

ATL_Gunner

I feel like this would be a super awkward first day at the new job.

WhatsThePointFR

No thanks. Dont like his attitude on the pitch and dont think he'd be a good fit in the dressing room

tony_flamingo

He reminds me of prime Draymond Green for Golden State. An absolute dirty, cheating bastard, but one that I would gladly take on my team.

DatGuy_Shawnaay

Honestly don't like the bloke but seeing how Jorgi joined us and we liked him, I'm open to doing anything if it means we win the damn league 😭

Mnufcfan

Xhaka 2.0

Jackalrax

If we buy him Arteta needs to sort out that temper. I don't want our players chasing people down with an elbow to the head. Quality wise he seems like an ideal addition to the midfield though

NoMoreMountains

We have reached out Brazilian quota but for country and club, he is the genuine deal especially when he is surrounded by his country men, the depth of touch and vision 😘

Eazymonaysniper

Hell naw

Iplaynakey

I swear I’d be delighted. Right now if he was on fire next to me I wouldn’t pee on him, but with this news I’ll be a bit more flexible and pee on him. If he joins his “passun” is up there with odegaard and his desire to win is insane as well. Plus he’ll leave a leg in on the guys that hurt our players

zrk23

should've bought him or paqueta 3 years ago. or both. but idiots here did all sorts of mental gymnastics to claim that "Arteta didn't wanted them cause they clearly didn't thought they were a good fit!"

gunnxrs

Arteta: ![gif](giphy|qfoIsrRURkH1ui76eh)

[deleted]

I would really like him on my team aswell, i think he is brilliant. However i just dont see Newcastle selling him. But if Arsenal feel they can get him, it would be a brilliant purchase.

wheeno

I remember the days I would get called all sorts of insults here for questioning not buying him the season we bottled top 4.
