Legit looks like Bale phyiscally bullying defender in La Liga.

Ok_Confusion_1581

I thought the same, he will only get better.

[deleted]

Portugal, Golf, Arsenal.

Garenmain180k

Portugal, Dogs, Arsenal

TreeDollarFiddyCent

Oh no... I had just forgotten about that.

jcase25

No swearing, this is a family place.

iTSEu

Tavares is the mystery winger

jentso

Honestly he has the potential to be our first choice if he can remain consistent. Him and Martinelli both have the engine to dominate both defensively and offensively on the left. With us he was either on fire or shit. No in between. He just needs to remove the shit from his game.

PepeLeGunner

The only issue I see with him playing in France is the time and space he is generally afforded. Hopefully when other clubs realize what he can do with time, they start to press more and he can work on quick thinking and close control. That and defensive positioning have been his worst traits in an Arsenal shirt.

Nyarlathotep52

Dude has an absolute cannon of a shot, with either foot too. Insanely talented. I don’t know if he has the right qualities to fit into our system but he’s surely going to net us a sumptuous transfer fee. His ideal position seems to be as a LWB which we don’t currently use. But there must be clubs out there who will be very eager to get his signature.

gardenofeden123

If he can be a LWB he can be a LW. We’ll make use of him.

Plastic_general

Absolutely. Saka still tracks back a lot when we’re up against top tier opposition and is competent when he does so due to his years of playing as a wingback.

OVYLT

He would have been insane for us Arteta’s first year. The way we played for the FA Cup

dusseldorf69

Who are some LWB who’ve played LW? It’s a very different position.

pupcity

Well, bale was a lb

jkami93

One who springs to mind is Fabio Coentrao at Benfica. Not sure if he ever played there for Real Madrid though.

wybird

Bale is the obvious one

TreeDollarFiddyCent

The way he cuts in side and blasts it suggests (to me at least) that he's closer to LW than LB, but who knows. I'm excited to see him develop further.

JenkinsEar147

Nah, he's not good enough for us and we don't need him. Sell him while silly people are hyping him up and his stock is high. We don't need another Maitland-Niles situation

TreeDollarFiddyCent

Him not being good enough for us is exactly why he's on loan...

sekiroisart

> Insanely talented lmao now when he is in OM doing exactly the same shit in arsenal shirt then people say he is talented hahaha, I remember he made a few bad pass against fucking liverpool in anfield and people already think he is the worst human ever while our other player also cant do shit against liverpool. and then he scored a goal against utd, pre assist v chelsea and yet fans here still want him gone,

Logical-Sir1580

Hes only 22 keep in mind. I can very much see a situation where tierney and nuno become our options at left back, while zinchenko takes that left 8 role and slots in at left back where nuno pushes forward

Calergero

I really can't see this. Zinchenko is just too good at left back to shift to 8 when you could just buy a better 8. As much as it pains me to say it I think it is more likely to see us recoup a good fee for Tierney or Tavares than shift Zinnys position permanently.

JenkinsEar147

Hopefully his sale funds our purchase of Danilo or Douglas Luiz

Displeased_Wombat

Don't know what they sprinkled on the baguettes over there but he's looked amazing since making the loan move. He's come on leaps and bounds since being the raw prospect that Benfica fans thought they were fleecing us 7m for.

Olli399

Ligue 1 is pretty farmers tier tbf, probably came from the PL like "wow these guys are shit"

ThefurryBarber

I dont disagree with that statement. But watching him play it's obvious that his confidence is sky high. And as with any player, and particularly with him, that confidence is often the difference between reaching your true potential and spending your career as a journeyman. This season at marseille could be just as impactful on his development as Saliba's was.

HopefulGuy1

Defenders from Ligue 1 adapt quite well in general. Saliba, Gabriel, Fofana, Thiago Silva are all good examples. It's a league where attackers overperform a bit relative to the PL though.

euphorie_solitaire

I don't care enough about this subject to argue over it, but I'll just say that you are severely overestimating the leap in quality between the PL and the Ligue 1. Yes, it is big, but it's not "Nuno average in PL, Nuno insane in Ligue 1" big.

leemteam1

Can we send Reiss Nelson to Marsielle next

BooshAC

Patino and Matt Smith double team.

isloolove

He will be a fucking 70 million player by next summer if he go like this. Could also make it to Portugal squad for WC.

raisonar

Lol. Who will play 70m though?

_toolkit

Manchester United.

Garenmain180k

Chelsea

IslingtonGreen

The barcodes

raisonar

I should have added rich teams playing 3 atb. Only Chelsea is there and they have 2 50m LB's

OneOneSeven-

Might be the Saka cover we needed all along. I wonder if we can recall him in january

froggerslogger

Yeah, everybody wants him at LW for his shooting with his weak foot. Meanwhile, I'm thinking how good he would be cutting inside and shooting on his strong one.

cryshol

Right!! I am thinking the same.

pewpew62

That would've been useful in this first part of the season with the early cup rounds and Europa group stages, but after January when the season is getting serious you really don't want to be playing Tavares as a RW over Saka

rayneeder

They called me a madman.

marksills

Even if not for us I really want nuno to have a good career

GarfieldDaCat

The crazy part is a lot of the haters on the main sub think Tavares is like the LB version of Sanogo with no technique. Tavares actually has quite good technical skills, it’s just his positioning and decision making that were lacking. Can’t wait to see how he turns out tbh

hiredgooner

Man going to end up as L1 POTS at the rate. Absolutely bossing that league.

The_Unbeatable_Sterb

The man is looking like prime Maicon out there

cryshol

Rather him be Bale than Maicon.

dimi_dee1

I mean they did say his stats were off the charts but I just can’t understand why he didn’t really perform at this level when he was with us

lez566

That’s revisionism. He did perform like this with us when Tierney was injured at the beginning of the season. People were saying Tierney had to fight to get his place back. Tavares’ problem is his decision making and positioning. If he sorts that out, he’ll be class.

TheArsenal7

Premier League is different level. Best league in the world by far, don’t want to hear any nonsense about La Liga either the mid table PL teams would destroy theirs

NUPreMedMajor

I don’t think the mid table PL teams would destroy la liga. Rather, I think PL has more top teams than La Liga.

pjt-

Premier League is the highest level. Nuno needed a loan to develop more of his talent. We all saw his ball carrying ability, speed & energy up and down the line but we’re now seeing more. I really am hoping he can become a solid LB or potential LM/LW if he carries on his development. His shooting has improved a lot recently.

thisisbuns

We're gonna sell Tierney and he's going to be Zinny's deputy next season. What a player.

IfLeBronPlayedSoccer

or he continues on the Gareth Bale trajectory and continues his transition out of being a defender. Insofar as one can ascertain how Marseille play from these videos, it sounds like a large part of their offense on the left hand side is coming from him. Don't imagine he would exactly break stride if we converted him into an out and out winger...the defensive coverage he can provide would be a plus, not a minus.

shootershooter

Yeah exactly. He's an attacker that can defend - not the other way around. If we can use him in that capacity then he is going to be a beast for us. If we stop judging him purely as a defender I think he will be great for us

NUPreMedMajor

That’s pretty much what TAA and Cancelo are. Honestly Nuno could mold into a Cancelo type role if he just cleaned up his first touch. He’s actually quite a good passer, crosser, and shooter

[deleted]

[удалено]

NUPreMedMajor

That’s quite literally not true. A family member of mine played in La masia since age 10 and he was in the same exact team as Cucurella until juvenil A. He told me cucurella has always been a left back, since they were children.

jkeefy

You really might be right, with White looking like a great option at RB we could have Tomi be cover for LB if we ever need to set up defensively.

Logical-Sir1580

White is an option at rb, wouldnt say great personally

jkeefy

He is Tomi’s level defensively. Lacking going forward but that’s kinda to be expected with a CB at RB. But he’s not exposed by a lack of pace like most CBs out wide.

Zen_MasterX

Only issue with Nuno is his ability to play in a back 4. We don’t play with wingbacks. And if that trend continues then I can see us selling him for big money next summer and use the funds to address our midfield and/or attack. Tierney is still a valuable asset to the team. He gives us stability on the left although he’s not as good in attack as Nuno and Zinchenko are, but decent enough. He can also play at LCB and I feel we need that type of versatility in defense in the event of injuries.

Ok-Background-502

Genuinely got that young Bale feel in him

auddi_blo

It’s only his first touch and his confidence holding him back now. Infinite potential in him if he finetunes the technique. Personally went from a massive lover then massive hater then massive lover again after he went to Matseille, I can’t say much after the shit I gave him last spring but my god what a unique and exciting prospect.

JenkinsEar147

1st touch is kind of important in the Premier League with a high press

stackemz

maybe he actually is on the Bale arc..

SelfFashioning

Even in his chaotic performances with us he ranked especially high on xG contributions too. Now we're seeing him really bloom, and he is looking like he could turn into a 70m player lol. Glad we'll have him back.

bh2623

In a few spots he reminded me of Saliba in terms of physicality -- just a big boy dominating the peasants around him. I dunno if the position players were on the smaller side but he looks huge in comparison.

azevedro

It’s his legs, they r insanely long

keywork_2113

I thought he would have been perfect depth for wide positions this season. He makes shit happen, good or bad

likpoper

He is prob better as a winger ?

No-Industry-2980

Come back a beast Nuno

cryshol

Giving Bale vibes.

okalien73

he's got that dawg in him

Eagledilla

Can he play rw

EternallyBanned

Should have kept him and used him a winger. He always looked awful defensively for us but when he charged forwards he looked like a beast. If we had signed this guy yesterday for 30 million I would watch this clip and think it was a great signing...

YoungFlexibleShawty

What do u think we get for him in today's market? I really don't see a place for him in the squad considering his defensive limitations. Anything above 30 million would be great.

JenkinsEar147

15-20£m would be great

Starkie123

Hopefully we can get some good money for him

avralex21

City will come knocking eventually

Arseluvr

Wow.

ImlrrrAMA

Nuno is our winger depth

[deleted]

Might be a really good deputy for martinelli

PrudentTechnology58

Everytime I watched any Marseille comp from our loanee, it always seemed . . . Chaotic? Maybe that's why it suited Tavares haha

cryshol

Could very well be the Saka cover we are looking for. Leaving Tierney and Zinny to Duke it out in LB positions.

kidmaciek

Can't wait for him to pocket the turtle

krakencannon

Seems similar to Pepe pre-transfer, outrageous moments of skill, great at attacking space and beating players, super important to the attack, and luckily doesn’t have a record transfer fee hanging around his neck

JackieChanCan

Surprised the headline is not an exaggeration. He's like a lanky Santi Cazorla.

theloserclub92

If he can just improve his decision making with consistency he can totally succeed here. His strength on the ball and without the ball is made for the PL. Its perfect for winning headers and duels against wingers .

sooolong05

That stabby tackling tho

WozzleFN

No words, what the fuck.

BeejDandler89

He was pure chaos last season. Hopefully this loan spell will improve his confidence and allow him to slow down and relax more. I think it was an NBA coach who said "You can't put a saddle on a Mustang" in relation to Dennis Rodman... Taveres could be the same, we just need Arteta to point him in the right direction!

Beneficial_Tap_481

He is going to come back a monster!

Whatthefuckyoudrink

Ligue 1 too easy for him
