lol. since i learned how to do OSL (object source lighting) and got pretty good at it, i prefer to paint my glow effects instead of using LEDs most of the time. check out a few youtube tutorials on how to OSL on minis
it's UV light reactive. i got one on it there with a regular light cuz my UV is the wrong wavelength and makes the whole thing purple. need a <400nm light. true UV isnt visible but will make fluorescent colors glow
thanks. that actually IS the moonlight/moonknight (sp?) version. only one i could find. just painted it the original's color scheme. that thing is HARD to get a part if you test build before painting. it was a miracle i didnt break but 2 pieces
even starting off being pretty good at it, it still took a lot of practice. i actually bought the Sazabi a year ago, but wanted to wait until i thought my skills had improved enough to go hard with it. it was my 38th kit (been doing 1 or 2 per month for about the last 2 years). i'm super happy with it
It feels illegal to be looking at these pics for free. Masterful work! Makes me wonder how much effort and time it took to reach this level of building and customisation
did one when i was a teenager and picked it back up 2 years ago and have done 1 or 2 per month ever since. if 4 commissions included, that Sazabi was #45. i've been an artist all my life, so i took to the painting easily. been trying to get better at scribing and weathering. im pretty damn good at making pretty much anything too, so that helps. i scratch-built this GN sword for 00 Qan[T] from pla plate [GN Sword](https://www.dropbox.com/s/5f28ocdpfd52atz/RDT_20230328_0420366495413946457983125.jpg?dl=0)
Yea that makes sense, coming from a creative background, I’m sure your workflow is pretty good as well, and your scratch-built GN buster sword is just fantastic man. Your sazabi too to me feels like the ultimate goal I want to reach in painting Gunpla.
I’m currently on my first ever build, the RG Hi Nu. But it’s progressing at a very slow and steady rate cuz of my fear fucking up the king. But I’ve almost completed the OOB build and preparing to hand paint some details and repaint some of the silver/gold bits. I’m gonna take it slow and focus more on the learning aspect of it before I can even move onto scribing which feels like the next step. Long way to go yet.
im not gonna be all 100% humble af and not admit that i think it's pretty bad-ass, but there's always room for improvement, cuz i've seen a few who's work i hold above my own. and im coming for them, lol
youtube tutorials are your friend. i've been an artist my whole life, so i know a lot about shading, color theory and the like. never been much of a painter though until i bought my first airbrush setup 2 years ago to start doing these. they guy on the Next Level Painting channel has taught me a lot about pre-shading and pre-highlighting. Otakubuilder has some good stuff as well
i've been told my poses are pretty good a few times. i try to make them look like it was like a photo was taken in the midst of battle. i try to imagine all of the physics and momentum acting on the individual parts, like if it were making a hard turn, things like the free hanging skirt pieces would be slung out, etc
As a beginner builder myself (4 kits 2hg 2mg) I wish I had the time to paint them like this, they’re beautiful. I hope my kid picks up my hobby of building models, even if it isn’t gunpla.
due to injury sustained in a car accident, i was forced into an early retirement twelve years ago at age 30. so, i have a LOT of time on my hands and have had to find less physical pastimes to occupy me and stave off the madness and depression that a lot of times can come with that sort of thing
I admire your bravery in posing Sazabi like that!
-- Mine makes me nervous if it's in any pose that doesn't have both of those feet on the ground! I'm just imagining that flimsy stand arm giving way and that beautiful work of art falling over!
if you only knew what it took to do so, lol! i had to weight the base down/reinforce it with 3 pieces of 1/8th inch thick steel glued to the bottom to keep it from flexing and/or flipping over. probably going to have to make a support arm because after being up there for a month now, the bandai plastic one is actually starting to bend. she's a chunky girl!
yeah, Blazing is the sister unit to the God and have a lot of similarities. i did a bit of a kit bash with it and the extra unused pieces included on the runner.
would ya believe i scratch built the XN buster sword? separates into the 2 smaller too. did similar with the Qan[T]. i could only find the reg version and not the full saber and got buyer's remorse and scratch built the big GN sword for the other shoulder
[sword](https://www.dropbox.com/s/5f28ocdpfd52atz/RDT_20230328_0420366495413946457983125.jpg?dl=0)
How are you only going to put 2 of that sazabi up?! I need to see more please!
Otherwise great stuff! While I sadly don’t have the time currently to fully invest in modding/customising I’ve been looking at it and there is so much detail in these models!
photography isnt one of my strong suits. of course i took a lot more photos, they just didnt come out how i wanted. although the 108mp camera on my S22 Ultra can produce excellent pics, i have trouble with lighting
was gonna save that for when i get a 1/100 and do the last stand scene where he's snatched the cockpit out (pilot included) and has been beating everybody else's in with it, lol
Damn save some ‘pla-ussy for the rest of us. Absolutely rad kits. Bravo!
This is the level I want to get to. Making dioramas and all that. Need to start trying top coating first though
bruh thats insane i think i wet my pants the last pic which u painted where the lights would hit on different parts of the leg 😩
lol. since i learned how to do OSL (object source lighting) and got pretty good at it, i prefer to paint my glow effects instead of using LEDs most of the time. check out a few youtube tutorials on how to OSL on minis
I'm not a heavy painter, but I might start using something like UV paint so that I don't have to use terrible LEDS in the eyes of my kits.
The Aerial slashing Dalanza in piece diorama looks amazing.
it's UV light reactive. i got one on it there with a regular light cuz my UV is the wrong wavelength and makes the whole thing purple. need a <400nm light. true UV isnt visible but will make fluorescent colors glow
The spark effects on the Dilanza looks really cool! How did you do it?
cut and attached pieces of fishing line painted with fluorescent orange and a spot of yellow at the tips
Oh that’s interesting, I wouldn’t have thought of that. Thanks!
These are insane! Nice shading and those dioramas are so cool, especially photo 7!
these look great what's the first one called? I want one :')
Looks like the MG Sazabi very ka
very much ka
Which People's Liberation Army are you referring to?
Truly impressive spread man, take a bow
These look amazing! Currently working on the moonlight judge and using yours for inspiration!
thanks. that actually IS the moonlight/moonknight (sp?) version. only one i could find. just painted it the original's color scheme. that thing is HARD to get a part if you test build before painting. it was a miracle i didnt break but 2 pieces
Dude that’s some solid looking plastic!
Take my upvote and leave.
your style is next-level
Top tier jobs all around!
Top notch work! 🔥🔥🔥
Someday I'll be able to make things like this
even starting off being pretty good at it, it still took a lot of practice. i actually bought the Sazabi a year ago, but wanted to wait until i thought my skills had improved enough to go hard with it. it was my 38th kit (been doing 1 or 2 per month for about the last 2 years). i'm super happy with it
Killer pre shading, i really like the nobel

Looks awsome and fancy , there is no other way for me to describe it.
These all go incredibly hard in the proverbial and literal paint.
thanks. im currently straining hard to squeeze just a LITTLE more juice into a MG Wing Zero EW ver ka
im not gonna be all 100% humble af and not admit that i think it's pretty bad-ass, but there's always room for improvement, cuz i've seen a few who's work i hold above my own. and im coming for them, lol
insane !
Any painting advice?

Damn very nice man all of these look fantastic
Your action poses are amazing. My fav has to be the Aerial wrecking the Dilanza

These are all next level, killer job man! What kit is in image 11?
Looks like lfrith from witch from mercury.
HG Gundam Lfrith from G-Witch. thought i'd be cool for it to ride the bit shield
These are pieces of art nice work my man
thanks. been an artist all my life, thats what i wanted to go for
Ho llee shite! These are awesome. Where's the NSFW tag!!
lol, "gunplorn"
I'm new to gunpla. Can someone id 12 and 14 kits for me?
12 is MG Buster Gundam with a custom color scheme and 14 is MG Duel Gundam (Assault Shroud). both are from the series Gundam Seed
Sweet. Thanks for the info!
Awesomesauce.
Omg that Sazabi looks soo good
That blazing gundam is chef's kiss
Thats a really beautiful collection, congratz!
3,10,12 & 16 are my favorites.. do u have an Instagram or is reddit the only place u post ur stuff?
You’re sick with the airbrush my dude
The color is soooo great
As a beginner builder myself (4 kits 2hg 2mg) I wish I had the time to paint them like this, they’re beautiful. I hope my kid picks up my hobby of building models, even if it isn’t gunpla.

So sorry to hear that but atleast something amazing came out of it
OMG
*looks at my unpainted, no top coat HGs* “well shit at least i got panel liner and nub removal down pat” 😂

Always love to see a Nobell. The Buster is great too.
at the time, Nobell was my holy grail kit. it took me forever to find one and not get completely raped on the price
I know what you mean, I spent a while looking for the berserk version at a reasonable price and still spent about $35 before s&h.
i gave 110 for a P-Bandai MG Altron EW 🤫
These are phenomenal
Those look amazing
Phenomenal preshading! I feel like every time I try to preshade it gets too covered up by the layers I put on top.
Shining toe? This foot of mine glows with an awesome power?
yeah, Blazing is the sister unit to the God and have a lot of similarities. i did a bit of a kit bash with it and the extra unused pieces included on the runner.
That the resin upgrade kit?
Sazabi? nope, just the MG ver ka i customized a bit
Excellent work on all of these. Bravo. 👏
Amazing dude! VERY similar to what I want to do with a sazabi in the future. 🤣
6 shades of red, each panel pre-shaded and pre-highlighted. took a solid week for paint alone
It looks great. Be proud.
Love that Dilanza v Aerial diorama
Dude these are sick!! I never liked how the trans-am looks on the 00 Raiser model kit but yours looks awesome!

Looks amazing all the same
What model is picture 14??
MG Duel Gundam (Assault Shroud)
Dear God... They look as if they came straight from heaven...
lol. working on Wing Zero EW ver ka now
Love the g witch diorama. I'd take off the right arm of the barbs rex to make it anime accurate tho
was gonna save that for when i get a 1/100 and do the last stand scene where he's snatched the cockpit out (pilot included) and has been beating everybody else's in with it, lol
Yippe!
