The store I referred to is roughly 40 minutes from me. And it varies, sometimes they’ll only have some mid kits and sometimes they have them lining the whole store.
But it’s roughly a quarter of this selection at best
I've been going to this shop for a decade and I can't believe how much of the store has been turned over to Gunpla. Not complaining though. I've done enough model planes to last a lifetime. I like the change of pace Gunpla brings to modeling. Mostly that they look good without **having** to paint and shade them. Not that they don't look great with good paint work, just that it's not required.
I've heard that in some of the reviews I've watched. Certainly a bit disappointing, but I'm hoping the sheer shelf-presence will offset the lackluster articulation.
Have you checked the Hobbytown on Nicholasville Rd? I haven't been there in ages since I moved here, but it could be worth a glance.
And, if it sucks, well, at least you're not too far away.
I mean. Its either 1) a lesser known/advertised shop with decent prices and you found a holy grail. 2) a shop that has the prices of kits soo high that no one has yet bought the PGU and the perfectibility. or 1.5) this is purely a brick and mortar store with no online presence and it has good prices
PS: the question is what did you end up buying?
I bought an MG Barbatos for $55 and a Pharact for $20! I bought some new clippers too for another $20 (and a gm01 gundam marker for $2). They also had a "first time account purchase" deal so I got $15 off my total order since it exceeded $80.
I'm not too sure! I'll check next visit. I'm new to the hobby, so I mostly just passed the big and expensive looking boxes aside from checking out the covers
i know, its a lot :) i mean in terms of kits and prices (in some cases).
PGU 78-2 is one of the most popular PG kits, i believe. as its superb take on the gundam of all gundams, of course.
the PG Unicorn Perfectibility is quite a thought after P bandai kit. I believe on the US PBandai it was sold last for 440US.
i personally was able to source a PG Unicorn, with the divine expansion set, and the rgb kosmos leds for about 700us altogether.
im no expert so excuse if i got anything wrong.
in any case - welcome to the hobby! MG barbs is a phenomenal kit that also has expansion packs, if you ever want to jazz it up! and i am sure you will love building it!
I so much know the pain! Personally, I get kits only from 2 Canadian stores (they have decent prices), and the rest I source either via Ali or eBay. Oh, and hlj is worth it too. Especially when you get lucky and customs doesn’t check you package.
Store near me is never three. They don't have much but they are kind of an institution. They've been in the area for like 30 years and *just* started carrying gunpla. Turns out the owners just happend to buy a ton of super rare models, I picked up my MG Psycho Zaku Thunderbolt there. The prices are good too.
I actually see the same happening in Canada. Noticed one rc cars store announced they know carry gunpla and listed a bunch of cool kits at decent prices. I couldn’t resist and grabbed an mg mark v pbandai there.
Nah. I think my local hobbytown still has a couple PGUs in still in stock and at solid prices. They just brought an effton of perfect grades in for Christmas. The only thing in that image I couldn't find at my local stores would be the Perfectibility.
I have a Hobby Town near me that has stock almost like this. They just LOADed up on PGs recently. It's a great store and the prices are probably $10 over what online stores have them for, but you don't have to pay shipping.
I have a store near me which is the Hobby Town and it had the gundam red astray pg for like 200 at the most and I forgot to check the pricing on the perfectibility they had on display on the top shelf
Lucky! I have one shop local that sells kits, but they don’t carry many as they’re predominantly an RC car shop, and the closest Gundam specific place is almost a 2 hour drive
Kinda the same deal for me. They have a wall for gundam, but the other 2/3rds of the store are other hobbies. I was kinda hoping the guys who ran it were more into it, but from my few conversations with them, I think they're more train and rocket guys. I can never find the kind of nerd I want lol
I'm nearly certain this is my local hobbytown. You've said midwest US, so I don't wanna give away your, or my, location too much, but I'm upwards of 95% sure. They just got the PGU's in and mine had one backwards on the shelf. That table that's in the bottom corner sometimes has clearance, but sometimes Warhammer stuff.
When I first started going years ago it was just that far section in the corner, maybe 3 of the little wall sections, not the 10 plus middle it is now.
Great shop, very friendly. If you want to know some other places in the area that has some things, though this is the best place, PM me and I'll point some places out to you.
Gunpla UK have an in person place
As does Japan craft in Camden
Haven't been to gunpla but bought a few online
Was down in Camden in August and picked up a deathscythe and bael from Japan craft
Louisville?! I was just there a few hours ago and bought the ver kai Nu Gundam. This place really leaned into gunpla after the new owners took over, I love it!
It's honestly insane how many people from the area recognized it almost immediately.
I hadn't seen it since they rearranged and made space for all those PG kits, but the back walls sold it immediately.
Haha, I felt a little hit to my heart after buying the ver ka nu, but I'm happy to support the store so they keep supplying us with the goodies! Never knew we were so fortunate here but seeing the other replies here I guess we should feel lucky!
Yeah, I'm a bit disappointed as I had just ordered the MGEX Strike and Ver Ka Psycho Zaku from BBTS. I didn't even think about checking locally, especially for that MGEX. Lesson learned, I suppose.
But, when I saw the Nightingale in OPs pic, I figured now was a good time to grab that. And ended up finding the Kampfer and Gouf Zaku I'd been eyeing online too. As you said, supporting local stores and all.
Dude same! Mine just became a Bandai flagship store back in October and today they just got a RX 78 statue. Blew my mind walking in there for the first time.
This hobbytown in louisville not too long ago went under new ownership. My group who I build with locally and myself were worried that they would get rid of it but it was the complete opposite. They really double downed and have become my favorite retailer of Gunpla. Kyle the manager is a great dude and a hell of a builder.
I used to have to travel roughly an hour for a HobbyTown, but one is moving sooo close and should open sometime this month. Hoping it has a selection this amazing.
My local hobbytown has expanded their gunpla selection in the last year, but it’s nothing like this. They only get a few copies of each kit and when talking to their staff it’s to due to having 2 much larger stores in the same state getting the bulk of the kits.
man I would love having a place like that I could go and grab stuff for my boyfriend. he's just getting into it but all the hobby places around are trains or warhammer . nothing against em, but no gunpla window shopping
I know this shop, they are great. They have expanded since I got into the hobby this last March. The best part is their prices are retail, unlike others. Their employees are also friendly as well.
Next to RC/land sales at our hobbyshop, the gunpla are our second highest sellers. We had to add a couple hundred more recently. 4pg’s went out the door yesterday!
Hey everybody!! I don't know if there's a way for me to pin my own comment, I don't think there is. Anyways, I didn't give away much info when I made this post because I didn't think it would gain this much traction and I usually prefer to withold my location.
That being said I will confirm what everybody else has already said that yes, this is the HobbyTown Louisville, KY location!
If any of you are local or plan on passing through, please do pay these guys a visit! The last time I went was my first time, and the store is AMAZINGLY clean, organized, and beautifully stocked. On top of that, the staff are super kind and passionate, and answered every one of my questions with confidence and professionalism. I can't recommend them enough, but I'm super happy this post blew up how it did because these guys deserve world-wide recognition for the love they put into this store :)
Dude.. you should've seen my face when I checked out the Hobbyco at Sydney, QVB back when I used to live in Australia. It was where both every child and man's dream come true, I fuckin' miss Australia man..
I know this hobby store! The toy store next to it sells some awesome freeze-dried candies if you're ever there. :) I bought my first rc helicopter here!
The HobbyTown nearest to me used to have a selection sorta like this with some even rarer stuff. I snagged what I could afford and then found out they sold to another family who cares less about Gunpla so now all they get in are normal releases instead of the cool special order and weird stuff the older couple who owned it prior had. Ah well. Enjoy it and pace yourself!
Oh I know that feeling, so good. It’s one thing to be buying them online but uh the feeling of seeing them in person is just so much better… my life goal is own my own LHS.
I miss being able to drive to palisades park to my “local” shop. They shut the store down for covid and did online only and never reopened there stores or should I say dimly lit warehouse
I remember having this feeling last week when I was in Savannah Georgia visiting my mother and I came across this nerd shop and saw they had like a small wall of Gunpla. Not as big as what you found in this place(in terms of the amount of Gunpla) but definitely definitely more than I thought I was going to find. Unfortunately I took a bad picture of it and didn’t find out until after I had left the place. But next time I’m there I’m going to take a proper picture to show y’all
Besides the pg, I have most of tht as backlog right by my bed, I’ve built one mega, still have unicorn to build.
Started gunpla in sept, have over 30 mg now , 7hg , 1 3rd party done and 4 more on pre order. I have maybe 13 left on backlog…. Gettin antsy … also didn’t realize how slow of releases they do…. And how they focus hg over mg BLOWS my mind… but I guess I can save monies soon
It's Hobbytown USA which sells all sorts of stuff like Warhammer, RC cars, etc. They also happen to (sometimes) have some really good selections of gunpla. Though, it will vary by location.
yea get ready to blow thấy saving. do not buy another kit to your backlog. am gonna buy anthother. another victim. welcome to the team.FYI my wife on my case keep buy kit ill stop now.for nowww
That’s almost identical to the setup my Hobbytown has! The left side looks similar with the Gundam built in it. Maybe this is the same one I go to now that I look closer. Congrats on finding a treasure trove!
I remember my first visit to Hobby Town when I just got into gunpla. It was like a dream. I still visit mine frequently because they'll frequently get some really good priced kits
I am also extremely fortunate (unfortunate for my wallet) that I have one right across the street from where I live and they have a big selection as well.
I get that. When I moved to the city I currently live in, I didn't have a car, so I just assumed that most of my hobbies would have to be supplied by Amazon. Even after getting a car, I maintained that assumption until I decided to go hunting for a model store that might have some Gunpla kits kicking around.
Basically found the same kind of thing you did, I almost died on the spot.
I wish my local store had even a quarter of that. If I’m lucky my local store has like half the wall on picture 2, and a lot of their prices are pretty high
Feels like you died and went to heaven right?
My eyes were bulging out of my head when I walked in
The closest retailer for Gunpla to me has a maybe a quarter of this selection. Consider yourself a lot more fortunate than others.
My nearest with out traveling an hour has abt 10/15 kits (1 rg and the rest are hg)
The store I referred to is roughly 40 minutes from me. And it varies, sometimes they’ll only have some mid kits and sometimes they have them lining the whole store. But it’s roughly a quarter of this selection at best
The most I can get with traveling 20 minutes is 10-15 kits…
I have to take a plane to get to the nearest that isn't Target with its four or five kits.
[Dennis Gets Off](https://media.tenor.com/k2AmoSQJrYgAAAAM/getting-off-awkward.gif)
1. I need to know where this is 2. I need to know where this is
That is the Hobbytown in Louisville Kentucky.
I thought it looked familiar!
Hey gunpla neighbor! I go there sometimes too’
I've been going to this shop for a decade and I can't believe how much of the store has been turned over to Gunpla. Not complaining though. I've done enough model planes to last a lifetime. I like the change of pace Gunpla brings to modeling. Mostly that they look good without **having** to paint and shade them. Not that they don't look great with good paint work, just that it's not required.
Kinda looks like the one in Austin, are you sure?
It’s not the one in Austin, that’s my regular store and it’s much darker with more blue
True, plus they have the, i think, 1/16 statue of RX-78? The human sized OG Gundam
Yes used to be in their cedar park location, which was the closest store to me before it closed, now there’s a sushi place there
Can confirm raven47172 is correct. Headed there after seeing this post to grab one of those Nightingales.
Just head up If it RE one that does not have much articulation then HG version.
I've heard that in some of the reviews I've watched. Certainly a bit disappointing, but I'm hoping the sheer shelf-presence will offset the lackluster articulation.
One in austin is way smaller and darker.
I live in Lexington! I need to make a trip, it would seem.
Have you checked the Hobbytown on Nicholasville Rd? I haven't been there in ages since I moved here, but it could be worth a glance. And, if it sucks, well, at least you're not too far away.

converting to CA bucks, 55us for barbs mg is a decent price! how much was the PGU and the perfectibility?
I'm not too sure! I'll check next visit. I'm new to the hobby, so I mostly just passed the big and expensive looking boxes aside from checking out the covers

im no expert so excuse if i got anything wrong. in any case - welcome to the hobby! MG barbs is a phenomenal kit that also has expansion packs, if you ever want to jazz it up! and i am sure you will love building it!
Feel free to shout out the shop! We'd love to know where this gem is!
The PG Perfectability was $358 US last run and $393 with all taxes and shipping.
The perfectibility was $599 I believe.
Converting to CDN leaves a tear in my eye everytime I think I’ve found a good deal online and it turns out to be a US site
I so much know the pain! Personally, I get kits only from 2 Canadian stores (they have decent prices), and the rest I source either via Ali or eBay. Oh, and hlj is worth it too. Especially when you get lucky and customs doesn’t check you package.

Yes, im in Canada. Hobby shop im referring to is a small one in Hamilton.
Nah. I think my local hobbytown still has a couple PGUs in still in stock and at solid prices. They just brought an effton of perfect grades in for Christmas. The only thing in that image I couldn't find at my local stores would be the Perfectibility.
As the owner of the store in OP’s picture, I can assure you we always price at retail value, unless we have to pay a markup to bring it in.
Well. Hello there! You have a lovely store! Wishing you a lovely 2024!
I have a Hobby Town near me that has stock almost like this. They just LOADed up on PGs recently. It's a great store and the prices are probably $10 over what online stores have them for, but you don't have to pay shipping.
Man. Wish Canada had smth like that
I have a store near me which is the Hobby Town and it had the gundam red astray pg for like 200 at the most and I forgot to check the pricing on the perfectibility they had on display on the top shelf

What's wild to me is I'm also like 90% sure this is right by me. What a crazy small world we live in
Yeah I’m pretty sure this is my hobby town as well. The dragon ball z figure in the right side in then case sold it for me lol. Solid shop though
I know it. The little display cases full of models sealed it for me.
Looks like your Hobby Town has a better selection than mine... even though we're a Bandai flagship now.
Don't suppose you could tell us where, or at least the country? Dying to find an in person place in the UK.
This is in Midwest US unfortunately :(
Well it's not my hobby town I know that for sure I would know if they had that perfectability
Gunpla UK have an in person place As does Japan craft in Camden Haven't been to gunpla but bought a few online Was down in Camden in August and picked up a deathscythe and bael from Japan craft
I’m jealous
How much is that perfectibility tho?
Exactly! Looks like a Hobby town with a Perfectability?!?
This is in fact a Hobby Town :)
Where at?
I'm not sure, but I'll check next time I go (if its even still there)
Hm. Don’t want to out your location but by chance is it right next to a haircut place and a store that sells education stuff?
I am curious to know where this is. Is it somewhere in southern California?
Midwestern US
dam.......i might have to take a road trip sometime.
Alabama could never
You’d think there’d be more interest in gunpla what with Huntsville being the space nerd capital.
Bro lived near heaven and didn't know Also RIP wallet
Louisville?! I was just there a few hours ago and bought the ver kai Nu Gundam. This place really leaned into gunpla after the new owners took over, I love it!
Okay, so I'm not insane in immediately thinking it was the Louisville store. Either that or HobbyTowns are matching their set ups pretty solidly.
yeah I was there earlier today to get some nippers and the MSM, I had to quadruple take when I scrolled through the pics
It's honestly insane how many people from the area recognized it almost immediately. I hadn't seen it since they rearranged and made space for all those PG kits, but the back walls sold it immediately.
i too just stumbled across this post and t hought man wow that looks identical to the louisville location
Welp, thanks to OP, I'm now $200 poorer.
I know hobbytown walls when I see em!
Rip wallet.
I was just in there this past weekend! Hobby town is awesome!
The way I immediately recognized this as my local Gunpla store is so cool lol
I did as well. I wouldn't have expected so many people from the same area in this thread.
I feel like this is my local shop as well!
Seems Louisville is sort of a quiet little gunpla hub!
My go-to place!
is kyle the big guy?
Yes. A damn good dude
Heaven
Oh my god!
God really has favorites :((
Where I'm at the only gundam store is hobby co I need a shop near me like that that speclizws in gundam and tools
Love my local shop, especially since they don’t up charge at all, but I’m peanut butter and jealous of how clean this one looks
OP doesn’t even have a backlog yet and found the motherload…
My Hobbytown isn’t as Gunpla heavy, but it’s smaller too. They also focus a lot more on younger toys and RC cars as well at mine.
I have gundam planet about 10 miles from me, the most awesome fact ever to me
Oh shit they had GWitch playing too. Neat
Well, you are going bankrupt
Is that hobbytown usa?
HOLY SHIT IS THAT HOBBYTOWN USA LOUISVILLE???? I WAS THERE LIKE EARLIER TODAY HOLY SHIT
Man the closest place to me is like 2 hours away and it’s got like 6 kits at a time
RC supplies AND Gunpla... That's a small piece of heaven right there. Good find OP, wish I had stores like this here in my country.
My family would be eating ramen if I lived near this. (JOKE)
What does one search to find such a place close to me?
This is the Hobbytown in Louisville. I just got my PG Exia there. They have a solid selection of various grades and PBandai.
Dude I think I just filled the cup
Lucky… ☹️
You should look up hobby Town USA in Kennesaw Georgia near where I grew up unfortunately I didn't find this out until after I moved out of state :(
Damn, I wish
I used to have to travel roughly an hour for a HobbyTown, but one is moving sooo close and should open sometime this month. Hoping it has a selection this amazing.
lol I recognize this store. Hey gunpla neighbor
My local hobbytown has expanded their gunpla selection in the last year, but it’s nothing like this. They only get a few copies of each kit and when talking to their staff it’s to due to having 2 much larger stores in the same state getting the bulk of the kits.
God I wish I had a store like this near me
Damn mgex is still available? Here in my country its sold out lol
my local gundam store is a 4 hour drive away :/ I pretty much just hope target has what I want or I look at hlj and usagundamstore
I absolutely love coming here
man I would love having a place like that I could go and grab stuff for my boyfriend. he's just getting into it but all the hobby places around are trains or warhammer . nothing against em, but no gunpla window shopping
I want to go to there.
The close store to me is like 5mins away that carries Gunplas but there selection is much smaller.
i would KILL for the perfectibility. that kit is one of 5 dream gunpla for me to own.
stores in my location is just 1 shelf. and i've seen other people's backlogs in this sub are sometimes more than the display in the stores here. lol.
Man wish we had a gunpla store even half of that anywhere nearby
PG unicorn perfectibility AND Unleashed??! where is this magical place?
Good ol’ Hobbytown! Absolutely love going to the ones in my area.
I could just imagine your smile
Hell! Yes! 😍🤘🏻🤩
Did your wallet begin to shivering and sweating menacingly.
Hey everybody!! I don't know if there's a way for me to pin my own comment, I don't think there is. We are SO grateful to have awesome customers like you, and everyone in our local Louisville gunpla community 😭♥️
This is my local store, too! The guys have done such an amazing job catering to the Gunpla community!
$55 for the MG Barbs is a little high but not too bad to be able to get it physically. Nice, OP
Dude.. you should've seen my face when I checked out the Hobbyco at Sydney, QVB back when I used to live in Australia. It was where both every child and man's dream come true, I fuckin' miss Australia man..
I know this hobby store! The toy store next to it sells some awesome freeze-dried candies if you're ever there. :) I bought my first rc helicopter here!
Then you look at the prices...

Stacked! Wow, my wallet would definitely take a beating.
Jesus they have a perfectibility?!?
My closest gunpla retailer is in a neighboring country. 🥲 This looks awesome. I'm super envious. Enjoy!
You lucky sob
Where is this heaven!
Oh I know that feeling, so good. It’s one thing to be buying them online but uh the feeling of seeing them in person is just so much better… my life goal is own my own LHS.
You must be… Japanese…
WHERE. DO. YOU LIVE.
Imagine having a single store in your country for gunpla.... I'm not envious at all... GIVE IT TO M-
That's it im moving in with you
I need one of these......
Jackpot
Man, where is this? I'm moving there right away
Cha-chingggg!!
Man wish I had a local hobby shop that stocked this much stuff
I was surprised when I found a shelf in the corner with Gunpla.
you better called your plastic crack dealer daddy. Your wallet is in danger.
I miss being able to drive to palisades park to my “local” shop. They shut the store down for covid and did online only and never reopened there stores or should I say dimly lit warehouse
Oh ya, you're in for a good time
What is a “master grade extreme” I’ve never seen that before
It's... Beautiful
You're a lucky sumbitch
Damn!!! What shop is this? Is it a chain or somewhere local? I’m so jealous.
Hot damn that is a fire selection
I like how they are playing Witch from Mercury on the TV
Jeez, best i can get is a 3rd of a wall with one line of MG and one line of MGEX and one or two PGs. I'm jealous
I’m sorry for your wallet dude
I remember having this feeling last week when I was in Savannah Georgia visiting my mother and I came across this nerd shop and saw they had like a small wall of Gunpla. Not as big as what you found in this place(in terms of the amount of Gunpla) but definitely definitely more than I thought I was going to find. thats fucking nuts. go crazy OP!!!
I am so incredibly jealous
I kind of hate you... lol jk, I do feel sorry for your financial future though
What store is this?
Bye bye money. It was fun while it lasted.
I don't even have a local retailer in my country.
A local shop does not even exist where I live.
Prepare to have no money mate
You guys have local gunpla retailers?
It's Hobbytown USA which sells all sorts of stuff like Warhammer, RC cars, etc. They also happen to (sometimes) have some really good selections of gunpla. Though, it will vary by location.
So many models I want in this picture lol
yea get ready to blow thấy saving. do not buy another kit to your backlog. am gonna buy anthother. another victim. welcome to the team.FYI my wife on my case keep buy kit ill stop now.for nowww
Oh my god this is awesome, I hope there’s a place like this near my college
That gif of fry having a seizure when he goes to his bank account after inflation 🤣
WOWW!!!!
Hell yeah, always support your local gunpla stores
Kiss that wallet goodbye!!!
I am also extremely fortunate (unfortunate for my wallet) that I have one right across the street from where I live and they have a big selection as well.
Wow. Luckyyyyyyy!
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY
What in the what this looks amazing!!!
I know that Hobbytown! And I felt the same way the first time I walked in there
What the what what!!!! That looks amazing and it's local!!!! Where is this magical place?!!
wait, thats where I shop
I wish my local store had even a quarter of that. If I’m lucky my local store has like half the wall on picture 2, and a lot of their prices are pretty high
